i have two questions. using the cinematic frame lines for instance 2.39:1. will the jpeg be the whole frame or just the frame crop? this is a great tool when using this as a directors viewfinder on set, but would need to retain the reference of the frame lines to be really beneficial. my sl crops the jpeg to 3:1 or 16:9. next question is whether one could install the asc firmware on an M10P? would love those settings on mine.
The ASC edition is such a beautiful design, but I can’t believe you put that hand grip on it, it completely ruins it in my opinion. The leatherette doesn’t match and it cheapens the cameras look with the two-tone color, why not just buy a standard Silver M10 P if you’re going to use that hand grip. It’s like buying a 1969 Porsche 911 and then putting a aftermarket body kit on it 🤦♂️ to each his own but I strongly recommend removing that hand grip, cheers
He still had the grip from his other M. Doesn’t mean he can’t get a black grip later on but wants to use the one he has now to have a secure hold on this outrageously expensive collectors item...
It would have cool to see the frame lines as they appear during actual Live View use. In this video, you had the lens cap on, so we saw the frame lines but the image itself was an unnatural all black view. I also wish you had taken a couple of images with the 2 different color profiles. Even if it was just a screen shot from the back of the camera, it would be cool just to get some idea of how different the 2 profiles are from each other or from standard profiles. Instead, we got a rather long segment on how to focus the rangefinder....even though that particular feature hasn't changed in an M camera in like 50 years. Otherwise, it was a good video.
I see you aren't able to turn "Exposure Clipping" to "Off." I have the same problem with my base model M10-P. How does one turn it off? Good video, BTW. Thx.
Enjoying your videos, thanks. I am thinking of getting one, I think its going to keep the value, I can get one for 16.000 eur ex vat is that a fair price? Its new.
Directors viewfinder are common since a lot of time but still actual. It’s used mainly on big sets, when the cinematographer is discussing a shot with the director. This to avoid mounting dolly, crane……in case the shot will not be made….
Hi math, I have a personal question to you... Would you go for *Xiaomi Mi Note 10* or rather *Huawei P30* when it comes to photography? Still don't know if I should wait for P40 that would probably smash Mi Note 10.... What's your opinion? :)
Never tried a Xiaomi phone, sorry, but with the Huawei P30 Pro you can not go wrong. I am currently looking at the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, video will come next days to my channel. Camera is even better but no more Google Play due to the US/China trade tensions. Workarounds are in place but a pity nevertheless.
Рік тому+1
This is probably the closest experience to using the leica M I’ll ever get.
Una critica: ma come si fa a fare un video su questa fotocamera con quell'impugnatura? Perdonami ma è come mettere i cerchioni verdi ad una Ferrari. Grazie comunque per il video.
Engraving black on black for all dials: For this leica is a beautiful design and not stupid (if this is done on other cameras). LOL. It looks quite tastelessly ornamented with a golden lens. It screams loudly: " Look at me and my owner. He must be a very rich guy, don't mess around with him. I used to have a M6 TTL in the 1990s and it was a very good camera with no issues.
@@mathphotographer I entirely agree. ASC is my favourite Leica limited edition release. I just think if I invested in this edition than less is more. And looks/taste wise, I think the battery grip takes away from the cameras beautiful all black look especially when paired with the gold 35mm (conflicting colours etc). Either way, love that pragmatism is priority for you as it is in many cases for me! Just watched your SL2 video. Enjoyed your knowledge. Thanks!
The grip is terrible in many respects. Not only do the colors conflict with the overall aesthetic (presumably the look is a big reason you purchased this special edition) but the leather embossing on it is of a completely different pattern than the camera body. Yuk! Do it right or don’t do it. “Pragmatism” is a wake excuse and not a believable one either.
Was hoping you'd show a comparison of the ASC cinematic color profiles to the default color profile.
Why do you put that unmatching grip on it?

now it looks even more gay, in my opinion...
The grip is a pragmatic add-on ... it really helps to hold the camera. Design is important but grip is more important.
@@mathphotographer I don’t think @DavidGrigorian has a problem with grips, per se. His problem is that you have a silver grip on a black body.
@@mathphotographer If the grip is more important then you probably just use DSLR. People like Leica because of the design, not grip.

Absolutely. Such a waste of video, sadly.
Great to see you modify the feel and set-up of your LEICA to your liking & workflow. Cheers! 🍻
Thanks and indeed makes a difference.
Only Leica would make an homage camera dedicated to cinematography that doesn't shoot video.
HAHA, yep.
I see you aren't able to turn "Exposure Clipping" to "Off." I have the same problem with my base model M10-P. How does one turn it off? Good video, BTW. Thx.
nice video but you never came back to the ASC profiles so we could see the different looks produced. thanks
Can you use that adaptor with a tilt shaft PC lens?

Just a Classic... & beautiful Camera..Im sure it will grant TIMELESS pictures of wonder..When Time Stood Still..♥️🤔📚⏰⏰⏰⏰⏰⏰⏰
Is the LCD screen matte or do you just have a screen protector on there that is matte? Because my normal M10 P has a glossy glass LCD screen.
Screen protector from Leica, original. Matte finish and anti-finger print, not expensive and easy to apply to the LCD.
What filter are you using?

Wonderful camera, get the black base handgrip please, better matching color.

Seductive and expensive. I love it!
If you hold it in hand you will never again give it away :)
Wunderschöne Version
It's a beauty!

Beautiful camera! Someday...
Best Camera for me!
Also the PL mount serves the purpose of a directors viewfinder….not to use it as cinema camera….
u can show the cine look expl pics how they look....
Great video, but that ugly hand grip ruins the aesthetics of the beautiful camera.
A special Leica for cinematographers And without video? Makes no sense
just go get a black grip for that camera mate
you are looking at over £7.000 to £15,000 of LEICA M10 AND THE LENS

Yeah dude you ruined it by adding the hand-grip.
matter of pragmatism when shooting :)
