    Cows milk is for baby cows. Human milk is for baby humans. Cow's milk has many negatives for humans (intuitively it's totally un-natural), including being a high allergy food and most people around the world are lactose intolerant. Think about it, the biggest, strongest animals on the planet - with the biggest bones and bodies - do not drink cow's milk. Children can and do get calories and protein and calcium - all around the world - from so many other healthy plant sources. A fruit smoothie with coconut milk and/or nut butter will have plenty of fat, calories and protein, at a greater health advantage. Add kale or collards for plenty of calcium - and more bioavailable calcium at that. And without setting up our children for diet related disease later in life. And then of course there are the serious environmental problems with dairy farms, as well as abhorrent animal cruelty - taking baby cows form their mothers at birth. Families around the world are raising children without cow's milk and many of these cultures are far healthier that Americans - who have been brainwashed by the dairy industry - including the dairy industry, profit driven nutrition education in classrooms across America.

    a lot of babies with cows milk allergy also react to soy... so if they can't have either, then how can we give them the nutrients they need? what can we give them to replace it

      If allergic to both, you can try pea protein milk for children over 1 year.

    My baby is 17 months old and has suffered constipation since she turned 1 when we switched her over to cow milk. For the last few weeks, we switched her over to lactose free milk but that hasnt helped at all. Tonight we started giving her Silk organic unsweetened Soy milk. Is there a brand of soy milk that you may recommend?

    • @JillCastle
      @JillCastle  Рік тому +2

      I've heard some littles struggle a bit more with constipation and dairy - soy (unsweetened) is the closest substitute to cow's milk. I think Silk is fine.

      Whole milk is a good place to begin - it's higher in calories and a good source of protein. If cow's milk isn't tolerated, soy milk is a nice alternative with similar nutrition.

    My daughter is 14 months old, and we’ve been trying cows milk and it really seems to be hurting her stomach. I’ve been looking into different milks I can give her, and I found Silk protein almond and cashew. It also has pea protein as well. 10 grams or protein, 130 calories, 2 grams of sugar and 450 mg calcium. Would this be a good milk for her? My next try would be ripple milk!

    • @JillCastle
      @JillCastle  2 роки тому +2

      Soy milk has some fat in it which is still needed for brain development at this young age. Some of the plant-based milks have no fat, and that's something I'd avoid. Discuss with your pediatrician. :)

    • @JillCastle

      Soy has more protein and similar calcium and Vit D to regular milk. Almond doesn't have much protein, so if you go with that, you'll want to make sure she's eating other protein-containing foods (I"ve got a new video coming about this topic!)
