Clever kit of plastic soldering the "hybrid" seat base. I'm impressed. Thanks for your video, Günter/Nürnberg
Very cool process for bonding 2 seat pans into 1. It's almost a shame it will be unseen once the seat is upholstered. Thanks to Penny who is an absolute rock-star videographer. Adds so much to the videos. Thank you both for such great content. Cheers. ❤👍👍
Thank you so much Rick, we both put the hours in with all this, and it makes it all worth while when it's appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the video.. take care and have a great week sir.. D&Pxx
when it comes to sport bikes and the modern collection of street fighters, seeing people work with repairing plastic is always helpful.

Wow, a very effective tool. I didn't know such a tool even existed. thanks!
The upholstery you removed is plain upholstery, in the sense that it is made from a single sheet of vanilla. If you go to a professional upholsterer, or, if you stitch a DIY designed cover from several parts that will follow exactly the required shape of the foam... and the stiches itself has all kinds of patents for decoration... it came out of Suzuki's workshop.
But you already know that.
The foam sculpting is first, want a low but firm seat pad and the cover will be a bigger challenge! Never done stitched covers before, but how hard can it be lol
@@Moonfleet41
From five parts, it is very difficult.
And if the fabric is thick, then it's even harder.
Difficult even for professionals.
But it's worth it.
Nicely done, Del! Extraordinary use of the staples. I did something similar last week on the MIL. I plastic soldered her food bucket to her neck. Works a treat although her voice is a bit muffled. Hope you both are doing well! 🏍️👍🏍️
So the simple addition of a hands free food bucket also muffled her voice... DOUBLE WIN brother..!! You must be delighted !
@@Moonfleet41 I suppose so! Yes, yes! I’m off to the pub!!! 😎
Hiya Penny and Del - great video! You showed your usual persistence in getting that seat pan fitting just right. I have a hot stapler too and have found it very useful! Sometimes it can be hard to hold steady while the plastic cools, so I use compressed air to speed things up... it's a real help! I am also impressed with that epoxy applicator - those mixing pens can be a pain to manipulate. Very nice job getting that epoxy applied and smoothed out - I look forward to seeing the seat develop!
On a personal note, my own fleet of motorcycles doubles in size today - The 1999 Suzuki Bandit 1200S will be joined by another legend of reliability - a 1992 BMW K75S. I'm very much looking forward to wrenching on and riding it. As always, dear friends... be well, take care and ride safe. Happy Friday!
Congratulations on the new arrival, you must be excited to have a new toy to play with.. they make pretty funky streey fighters and chopped down bobber style customs too.. or are you gonna just live with it standard and enjoy it.. either way, it's probably our live us, so good investment aye.. Thanks for your wonderful and kind support as always, have a fabulous weekend too and stay safe,, D&Pxx
Great stuff as usual 👍
For me that seat needs minimal foam to keep it low ,just for better lines on the bike ,and I would cover it in black alcantara
But that's just my opinion
I think this bike is going to look the mutts nuts 👍
A couple of interesting tools I have never seen before. Staples and glue guns. Sure making your job easier!! I've always done it by hand. Now can't wait to see how you fix the seat. Great job video.
Glad you approve, it's something I've done a few times and I'm sure you'll agree, it's always good to start with a good foundation!
Totally agree!
Another nice job. Im useless at the stuff you do. Don't have the tools or the patience either. But I just love watching your channel.
Thanks mate 👍. we really appreciate your support!
Nice one Del 👍
That's a handy looking piece of kit👍
It's great when you show the somewhat 'unusual' workshop tools, kind of a "Mmhm..... I could use one of those" kind of moments 👍
Keep up the good work Del 'n' Pen 👍
Thanks Paul 👍 glad you approve mate!
Wow, they are an upgrade from using paperclips Del. Didn't know there was such a tool. I know you did a plastic welding video years ago. But this is definitely so much better because it's a specialist tool.
Obviously, there's no getting away from the toxic cyanide fumes, though, and carful with the remains of those staples as they have a habit of finding tyres.
And not only do you both produce the content, etc. But find time to read and comment on all our comments, Del and Penny x
Thanks Marc, 10/4 on the fumes, we had the extractor fan on and the door open too provide flow through of air and it is minimal as that tool is very efficient. Always appreciate your kind and wonderful support, have a safe week, D&Px
Everytime, i am stuck with how to go about a part of my motorbike project, you bring up a relevant video.
Thank you
Most welcome mate Glad to help!
Very satisfying job, should be very strong seat base, great video
Thanks 👍
That was a clever way to make the pan originally. But your attachment method is light years stronger. And I gotta say it... the original job just wasn't done with the two colors showing. In my opinion, you should do your very best with a job and not bothering to color match the plastics with a simple coat of paint just automatically shows a willingness to cut corners. Does it show, some might ask? Yes. Yes it does... every time the seat is removed... Why do "good enough" when you can do your best?? I will never understand that. If it was a big expense, then I get it. But a coat of paint?? Come on, man! Even a Dooms Day bike deserves all the attention to detail you can give it. Happy to see that seat base went to a better home :)
Thanks mate.. glad you approve, primarily i just want ot make it stronger and durable.. the whole bike will get a coat over of fresh paint once the contruction work is all done.! have a great week and take care buddy.. we really appreciate your kind support. D&Px
Some might not know that it was even 2 bikes.
Brilliant! Now the initial idea has been allowed to come into it's own with great execution of materials and workmanship. I have had a few great ideas over the years which I just wasn't able to really get over that final assembly hump, that have always haunted me. My OCD is seeing those two "ears" on the front tops of the seat base that poke up and cross the angled line of the tank, and wanted to reach through the screen to lightly trim, lol.
Has ha, sounds like you should be building a bike yourself mate..!!
A great how to for plastic welding repairs and fabrication ! with some great tips like on your previous videos ! Thank you Del 👍
Thanks Paul, Glad you enjoyed it mate.
Awesome video brother !!! Very impressive the plastic welding !! Makes it so much stronger adding that epoxy in the end !! Btw , I had no idea there was a tool to squeeze the glue out , I was using my fingers all this time 😂, great tip brother !!! Stay safe guys cheers from New York !!! 🎉🎉🎉
Hey Renzo, thanks for you all your kind messages, we appreciate your support! Yes, with the glue, it's a product, the two tubes come moulded in to one piece and exit through one nozzle and the little mixing tube tips make life real clean! The only problem is, you have to be quick as the glue goes off in the tube once it's mixed and you only have about 5mins from the moment you squeeze the trigger!! Have a great week both, take care and be safe, D&Px
Never seen those tools and process before. Good video. A successful surgery !
Thank you.
Good job pal,it great to watch
Man, that's such a more efficient way of plastic welding then the old way I saw you do it WAY back in the day... with a soldering iron and paper clips. Same effect, just faster and easier.
Exactly that brother, I reckon the manufacturers watched us back in the day and designed a proper tool for it! Works really well and it's quick and easy. Have a great week both, stay safe, D&Px
An eye opener to a job I may never do but will keep the thought in the locker many thanks good video and intro to some tools I had not seen cheers
Thanks buddy 👍, a borrowed tool, not mine this one, but if I do need it again, I think it would be a worthy investment! Glad you approve...
Great video Del and Penny, excellent job mate. I have just bought one of those kits, because I know I am going to need it LOL. Penny and you enjoy the last part of your week. Cheers
Thank you 👍, appreciate your kind support, still overcast and grey here, but getting warmer thankfully, hope you're enjoying the sunshine! Ride safe there, all the best from us both, D&Px
Top job Del. Is there no end to the wonderful selection of tools you have collected over the years. Im very envious
Great design by the previous owner but those plastic welding staple guns are the dream. Another useful weapon added to the arsenal 👍🏻
Sure thing mate, makes a fabulous job of joining dissimilar plastics, and as ill be sitting on it, i want it durable..!
Nice job and nice song!
Good job Del😍
Thank you 😁
Hi Del... Great work as always mate.
Can i ask where did you get that 2 part plastic epixy adhesive...I've been looking for a good one to repair a car bumper.
Thanks JR (london)
I showed the tube on screen before i started, it's readily available online from many sellers.. Picked mine up in a local motor factors so no link im afraid.
👍👌😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
a proper belt and braces job i like it

Will you go see your friend that made your seat cover for your Harley!? She did such a great job!
Not this time buddy, not in the budget!
@@Moonfleet41 okk no problem i know that the result will be as awsome as everything you touch 😉 here in Québec we say "sur la coche"!! It's an expression that means top notch 😁
Yes, I'm not too proficient at the old plastic repairs. But as with everything it comes down to equipment and experience. I've had shed loads of goes , with the wrong equipment! 😅✌️❤️
I used to do all mine with cable ties and a soldering iron and copper staples from the cardboard boxes, and it still worked ok as long as you do it right! Am not sure it's about the equipment, maybe just the technique lol
Del , i do miss the invisible coat hooks mate 😢😢
Had to leave them at the other unit sadly lol when I went looking for them, I couldn't find them!
Well worth doing. Good one.
Great job sir. But I think it may need a new colour. The black is tired. Sorry to say.
Can easily be freshened up at the end aye !
Don't you dare use the old cover, lol
Nice job again Del/Penny I like the way you introduce tools and products and show the correct way to use them always learning from your channel
Thanks so much, we're glad you enjoy, D&Px
Fanplastic result!
Thanks, another lovely one :)
Thanks again Tony, always good to hear from you.
