yes for sure would reccomend running some lens support with the arles. This setup I am typically holding the lens. Matte box is polar pro with vnd but I dont love the VND. The matte box itself is nice though!
@ the audio is actually so good from it. I’ve tried like 4 different monitor configurations on my fx3 but they all feel awkward because of the top handle lol.
@ that’s what I’ve settled on! I tried really complex setups with like evf style monitor mounts, a rod going across, but ultimately wanted a simpler setup. It can just feel so close to my face when mounted along the flat part of the handle.
Good question, with this rig I am usually pulling focus off the barrel so I don't use rails but if I was using it in on a tripod or anything else I'd most likely have some rails and lens support on it. This is about the same weight as a 70-200 which on sonys website they show it on a fx6 with no support so I'm assuming its fine. however its better to be safe than sorry.
Never heard of it. JK with this setup im not really recording sound. I would have audio engineer use timecode sync if I intended to get sound. Best sound setup I have seen though is with the stock top handle and a mkh50 that setup has truly amazed me.
All you could possibly need - amazing dude
been down the rabbit hole of complex rigs. a monitor, vmount and nd system is really all you need. glad you liked it!
beautiful machine
🔥
FX3 continuously delivers for me
Very clean! I'd wrap the HDMI cable around the shaft of the top handle so there's no loose dangling but that's nitpicky!
The HDMI cable is super short so it can be wrapped around but a cable tie on the camera could tidy it up. Good eye!
You know it's a no bs rig when the monitor only tilts forwards and backwards. Ain't nobody got time to miss a shot! 🙌🏽
Haha there has been times where I wish I could rotate but they are few and I’d rather have a simple tilt!
very nice build. thanks for sharing.
Appreciate the support!
this is a work of art
Come hang out
literally my dream rig
You can do it bro! What camera are you rocking currently?
I mess wit it
fx30 video when?
@ if this gets 12 likes I’ll post one before sunrise.
That monitor mount is nice
I love it! swivel would be nice but I can live without it
Those Arles are clean!
Heavy but so so worth it.
Nice set up, what is the Matt box? Also I’m getting the. Arles, so I know they are heavy , you reckon long term need rods/lens support

slick !!!
Thanks Hugo!
Smooth!
Thanks Kye
Hi Cody !
Don't you use the vmount battery to power the camera ?
You definitely can! I’m just not in this instance. If I did I would power it just with a cable though and not the dummy battery.
May I ask info of mate box?
It’s polar pro matte box with VND if I’m being honest I do not like the VND but the Matte box itself is nice
cool! what brand wires are those?
The HDMI or DTAP?
Jealous of rigs that don't need internal audio! I'm stuck with the fx3 audio handle as a necessity 😭
Don’t get me started on the top handle, fx3 and fx6 top handle drive me crazy
@ the audio is actually so good from it. I’ve tried like 4 different monitor configurations on my fx3 but they all feel awkward because of the top handle lol.
@ what I have been doing is just using a monitor mount right on the flat part. If you send me a message I’ll send me setup
@ that’s what I’ve settled on! I tried really complex setups with like evf style monitor mounts, a rod going across, but ultimately wanted a simpler setup. It can just feel so close to my face when mounted along the flat part of the handle.
Dang.
kickflips and coffee soon?
love it! question , are rails necessary for such a heavy lens? or the e mount can take it
Good question, with this rig I am usually pulling focus off the barrel so I don't use rails but if I was using it in on a tripod or anything else I'd most likely have some rails and lens support on it. @@codylarosa i saw the 70-200 is 2.3lb and the arles is 3.59lb. so thats also a big difference. be safe brother
@@snickernick3651 According to B&H the OG Sony 70-200 is 3.3 lb / 1480 g the new one is 2.3lbs
Sound?! 🤷

I think you gotta like his comment haha
day 340 of commenting on rig videos until I see a shotgun mic for "run and gun" rigs.
mkh50 is the best hands down.
