      Here most of the restaurants are fast food chains, especially after corona lockdown. Here the fast food food workers hate door dashers because they have more orders to fill since the lobbies are mostly closed to sit down eating. They are paid hourly so to them the slower the better, so our orders are last in line even though you may have been first in line. DD orders typically arrive in the store before we even accept the order, the workers see our orders before the drivers do. It's the way th DD app works. I have friends working in subway where they get the order 10 minutes ahead of me seeing it for acceptance.
      Taco Bell wants dashers to walk into the lobby to get their orders. Why????? Because at taco bell they are timed at the drive thru and have to meet Taco Bell corporate guidelines on wait times. So if we Dashers have to go to counter, our orders are not timed. Which leads me into what happened to me today.
      Today I went all the way thru drive line to announce my pickup to the store(taco bell), I was asked to come inside, (5 minutes used up after arrival waiting in drive thru line) I get inside and see my order on the drive thru screen, (4 small items on my DD order.) I watch 8 orders that came after my order get priority and filled as my DD order was ignored on the screen, after ten minutes standing in the lobby I commented that they were killing my pay by taking so long, and that I was a tipped employee and not a hourly worker, and that DD customers actually pay a premium for their food as opposed to regular customers, and why was my order being ignored? One of the cooks told me to get out and never come back and threatened to have me fired and reported to DD for questioning them about what was happening. He asked his manager to get me out of the store and report me.
      This is not the first time that workers have been hostile to me as a dasher. We have a schedule to follow delivery times to be met and honored, how can I give my customers great service if the whole system is broken that I'm working within???? Super frustrated here. Hourlies are hating on gig workers.... When I worked for ALDI all paying customers are the equal instacart left shipped etc etc none were looked at as hostiles.
      DD makes money from busy times, the store owners maximize profits by getting the most productivity from their workers when they are busy, that is until customer service tanks. Most of the time we are not allowed to tip the restaurant, kitchen crew, wait staff personal at the establishments we frequent, were not getting paid minimum wage from the businesses either. Maybe we should? Would we get better service? That's a possible fix if all delivery drivers started tipping our associates in the businesses we frequent. But it does not feel fair because they are getting a guaranteed wage and benefits and are not destroying their vehicles for work..... Help!!!!!!!

      @@krustysurfer that explains what happened the other day at Taco Bell! The main location Uber Eats sends me to made me go inside after spending a long time in the drive thru. They informed me that the lobby is open until 3am. -bear in mind that each location is different: I was kicked out of the lobby of a different Taco Bell because it was now 10pm and “the lobby is now closed”, even though there were still people eating inside (the only location that is even doing inside dining!). BTW UE seems to be paying for the wait time, so as long as the time and mileage numbers meet my criteria, I have no problem accepting Taco Bell orders. -$$ without burning gas!

    Thank you. I never noticed the Delivery number until watching your video. I just started with only 14 deliveries so far and I had all stacked deliveries yesterday except 2 deliveries. I delivered 10 in 47 minutes. So far my average is $17.69/hr. I watched a few of your videos and only accept $1.75/mile. I am in Las Vegas and the tips have been awful. Also, the Customer lowers the tip after delivery. Not sure why when I drove directly from pickup other than my stacked deliveries. It is bait and switch. I think Uber should not allow it and only lower the tip if they can prove there was unexceptional service. People will complain to get something for free or reduced. This has abused the Customer's always right privilege. I think the same should go for Passenger Services as a lot of Driver's will not go back driving in Las Vegas because they have lowered the rates too much and not making what they made before the Pandemic.

    Here in Montreal we are not seeing the expected tip on order requests, so we need to really use other metrics to pick orders, typically tips are good and we can get to $25 or so per hour, but some days the tips don't follow as much. I tend to decline orders from restaurants where the order values are really low, as the tips will typically be lower as well. I prefer Sushis over Dairy Queen ;)

  • @stainsafe2000
    @stainsafe2000 3 роки тому +5

    WE could never make that much here (3500 a week). Even with 45 hours of work time and taking the best offers you can get, I cannot break the 700 a week mark. You get so little back for the mileage put into your car as well beyond the tax exemption. It's an issue of there not being a constant flow of high volume work during peak times, like Mike and others in large cities have. You make a 45 hour week average of 13 to 16 an hour.
    All of central florida east is sporadic, sluggish, with only once in while heavy peak times where the map even lights up. Only acception is new smyrna beach portion which is somewhat better on the weekends. It looks like door dash has a predominance in the area from looking at their busyness at the same time over the area as wide with their program on.. I also know this from having previously worked with doordash in this area. I hope the job mix in with postmates work will make it better for us. Only problem is they moving very slowly on that. The whole thing is very discouraging. It looks you can only rely on ubereats as a part time job here. Anyone else in my area had any experiences to mention.

    • @OscarLachapel
      @OscarLachapel 3 роки тому +1

      Try ignoring those orders if they're not big during peak times (or normal hours)... And see what happens, even if you have to go offline and online again multiple times, it will not take you that long and may be highly worth it.. If you take small orders they are going to send you more small orders, and some bigs too to make it look good, but at least try what I'm telling you and lmk how it goes for you

    • @stainsafe2000
      @stainsafe2000 3 роки тому +2

      @@OscarLachapel it's worth a try but the big problem during peak time is low volume in general or the rush ending at 7pm. This is while door dash stays lit up in the the red. Their marketing team has not done a very good job here. There's only so much u can do.

    Question, I have a minimum of $2 a mile. Sometimes an order will come in for McDonalds for $5 for maybe 1.5 miles or something, would you take it or hold out for a bigger payout because technically it is paying well more than the $2 a mile minimum but might take 10 or 15 minutes to complete. Pay close attention to those that get +$2 and $3 peak days often. I prefer areas and towns with more houses than apartments since they're easier to search and identify. Don't feel bad about declining orders. Of course it's a gamble but sometimes you are missing on better things by giving into desperation.

      I just looked for a few moments and saw the hours and earnings and it was for 7 days. Typically I’d ask for the screenshot but didn’t want to pry too much. 80 hours a week is not sustainable imo for both the driver and vehicle

    If you hit a great hour, another bad hour will come. The nature of hospitality is some good days and some bad days. $43 an hour consistent over 80 hours is just not something I would ever imagine would happen

    What about apps like doordash where you need 70% acceptance to continue to get top dasher benefits of anytime scheduling and better orders? This looks like alot of declines that may lead to loosing good benefits.

      Top dashers do not get better orders. They can schedule an extra day out and can dash anytime but those really aren't good enough benefits to take crap orders and killing your car. Work smarter not harder

    I could make $400 - $500 a week just in bonus earnings if I had the time. Uber Eats is paying out $48 for 8 deliveries in four hours pretty regularly for lunch and dinner in my market. I'm part-time so I try to capitalize on 2 or three of those shifts a week.
