This definitely gets my SDFX fix i've been looking for a long time. No one seems to do messhuggah jazz metal nowadays and I've always wondered why. Also, No oath is a beast and that Vigier is looking spicy :)
Having made this I can tell you that the reason most people don't is that it's 1) very difficult 2) financially irresponsible. I'm glad it's a little SDFX fix for you, I've been hungering after one myself for a long time!

This is great! Love the Shane Lane signature too. Those guitars are so easy to play it almost feels like cheating.
It's great to see someone using spacings with the cymbals to create the illusion of speeding up/down. More people need to use that nifty trick.
Absolutely, without the Shawn Lane sig I don't think I could have played any of these solos. I'm a huge Shawn fan and it's an honour to own one.
Cymbal spacing trick here is nifty, I definitely want to take a day sometime and just experiment with a bunch of filthy metric modulations. >.>
@@FreepowerUG I have a SL signature too but have forbidden myself to use it. If I do, I am terrible on all other guitars afterwards.
Another trick you might want to look into is displacement. Gavin Harrison has a book called Rhythmic Illusions, it's full of great ideas for creating some very interesting rhythm stuff.... but in the wrong hands, it could do great things - terrible, yes, but great.
@@ShredTraining I balance it out the ease of the SL by playing a bunch of extended scale 8 string 😅

Man this was a delight to come across, somehow missed this upload! I will often relisten to a riff heavy album that you have previously featured on the channel and think "oh right, i wonder if he has uploaded recently" and come check in. Well today i see you have been hard at work with this awesome piece, and we get a full breakdown to boot! This is great. Also the moment you said "No Oath" I knew it would be polished as hell. Love hearing all the influences pop up throughout.
