Truth, bass is only important in bands that actually use it. Maiden did it correctly, and he only used finger plucking which is a huge thumbs up. A lot of 90's punk also made use of the sound bass can produce and turned it into the actual focus of the rhythm. But most people don't understand bass.
Well, the song itself (The Trooper) is about the Crimean War, and the cavalry charges on horseback. So...the galloping kinda makes sense. :) I'm an old school metal head, listening to Maiden since the 80s. Love your rendition of it! UP THE IRONS!

My friends and I would record on mini disk and adjust the different layers through an actual board to sample songs / record. Very cool not just to watch you do your thing but seeing how far software has come.

I know it was meant sarcastically as a joke, but imho Steve Harris' "galopper" bass style was essential in quite a lot of Iron Maiden songs. This arrangement does actually sound quite flat because of the lack of bass.
I personally liked it. It sounded more interesting and like a band was inspired beyond just "use the sheet music" and made something more unique with it. The original does sound better, but I could see the version you made doing well
I am not too old to not appreciate hearing the Zoomer generation remake this classic song, Nik I think you did this great justice while adding all of the new innovations made in metal and core music, gives me hope for the future, after I pass away, metal won't die but it will thrive in your hearts. This highlights my issue with a lot of modern metal: bass guitar is obsolete. Steve Harris’ bass drives Iron Maiden as much as the rhythm guitar. With extended range guitars and tons of low end dialed in, bass just disappears. Anyhow, this was a fun video and your talent is very apparent. New subscriber.
