Really fun to watch you put this together. Dating myself here but it’s so cool seeing all the tools you all have for mixing. My friends and I would record on mini disk and adjust the different layers through an actual board to sample songs / record. Very cool not just to watch you do your thing but seeing how far software has come.
Well, the song itself (The Trooper) is about the Crimean War, and the cavalry charges on horseback. So...the galloping kinda makes sense. :) I'm an old school metal head, listening to Maiden since the 80s. Love your rendition of it! UP THE IRONS!

Maiden has one of the greatest bass players of all Time…huge oversight lol
Truth, bass is only important in bands that actually use it. Maiden did it correctly, and he only used finger plucking which is a huge thumbs up. A lot of 90's punk also made use of the sound bass can produce and turned it into the actual focus of the rhythm. But most people don't understand bass.

It would actually still sound great with the original vocal track. I am a Maiden nut. My absolute favorite metal band hands down. I say you did an excellent job bring the song into the style you wanted while still honoring the core of the song.

I know it was meant sarcastically as a joke, but imho Steve Harris' "galopper" bass style was essential in quite a lot of Iron Maiden songs. This arrangement does actually sound quite flat because of the lack of bass.
As a bass player, that was funny! But there would be no Iron Maiden without Steve's bass playing.

yea because the actual mixing on the guitars sound like if they put a concrete block wall between the mic and the amp
Dude whenever you listen to a song and think 'man that sounds so big a powerful' it's because they got the bass mix right. Strip the bass out and the guitars don't hit as hard. Bass is important for every band.
Crownicus my old band kicked me out because of some drama and justified it by saying "bass isn't needed anyway so fuck that guy" a month and a few gigs later they came crawling back asking me to join again because they realised the songs were shit without bass, they were told not to bother performing again unless they found another bassist lmao

I remaster old songs that I really like. I just did a couple Megadeth songs, because I wanted them to shine. I hate how badly old stuff is sometimes mixed, or worse, when some oxygen theif from 2012 shoved it up against a brickwall limiter and called it "remastered".
