- The electronic variable ND filter of the Sony FX6 is such a convenient feature to have. I can see this as such a key feature for documentaries that change location frequently. I hope technology will somehow allow this to be able to put this feature in bodies like the A7s iii.

Great test Niko! Just got my FX-6 and found that regardless of my settings, when I select auto ND it tends to really underexpose the image/use more ND than it needs in darker environments. Is this why you bump up auto exposure first? Any explanation would be much appreciated, I'm a little confused. Thanks!
Hi Sam! As far as I can remember, all my settings were fixed (Iris, FPS, Shutter Angle) then I set my exposure compensation to +1.7 so that the Auto ND will adjust for that. Try bumping up the Exposure compensation and see if it satisfies the exposure that you need.

On the FX6 is it possible to switch on Auto ND and Auto ISO at the same time? Wouldn't that be the ultimate? If it's too bright ND will knock it down, if it's too dark ISO will ramp up. Or do these two functions fight each other and screw things up?
If you are in cine EI mode, there is only 2 iso options available anyways, but if you shoot custom, they wouldn’t fight, you would have to set your iso manually

On the Menu, go to Shooting>Shooting Display>Emph disp dur REC>On

There is no "best function lens" for a camera. Always base your lens on what type of videography or photography you do.

If run and gun, FX3. If you're doing more studio or professional shoots that you could setup more, the FX6.
