I’ve met Elias and the rest of the band this year at their show in Minneapolis. They are great people, very friendly! I had the opportunity to speak with each of them, and they even signed my copy of PITFOL. They are the kind of musicians who remember your name. Elias is an artist, you can tell by the look in his eyes. They were never rude with me or my friends(we’re from Mexico). Maybe they are a little bit shy? I don’t know. But they have become my current favorite band. They have something to offer to the actual music industry. It is important to listen and observe far beyond. Good arrangements, great lyrics, an excellent guitarist, and a killer base. These guys got everything! By the way, seeing them live it is a MUST, I loved the violin and the piano somehow it reminds me of The Velvet Underground. Rock n’ roll is more alive than ever!
I remember meeting Elias at an iceage show back in 2014, he was reading a book before the set and I said hello and he looked at me super kindly and introduced himself and shook my hand. He signed my t-shirt too, was super sweet :")
Same, great guys but they really need to figure out how to deliver the new album live. When they played in Brussels the guitarist was all over the place (there even was a moment where Elias got out of character cos he was so done with it) and here the sound mix is still out of balance.
I finally had the privilege to see them live last night after waiting for 4 years. I’ve heard and read rumours that they’re hard to talk to, so I was a bit hesitant to talk to them at first. But I quickly spoke to Elias right after the show where I thanked him for coming and explaining that I’ve been waiting for a long time for them to stop by. He seemed humble, friendly and quite talkative. I was either lucky or he actually appreciated a thank you compared to ‘hey, can we get a picture’ or some deep analysis of his lyrics which probably happens every night.
Funny how Elias says that "everything is about the now" when he preforms on stage, because when they play they have a way of completely forcing the audience to focus on the now in the most compelling way imaginable. They will forever be one of my favorite bands for this quality, if not many many more
Not rude, he's from Scandinavia - it's a cultural difference. Same deal with Northern Europe. It's a performance and they probably have persona's they've made for being on stage
Everyone is commenting Elias' response to the band's introduction. I thought his response was out-of-the-ordinary, mysterious, and captivating. It drew me in. I love Cheryl Waters as much as the next KEXP viewer, but that silent eye contact was downright cool. Also, the bit during the interview about trying to draw attention to the present moment was fascinating and compliments the initial coolness.
These will be huge, I really really loved this noise for the last 3 weeks, I only just found out they’re danish, not that it matters, I’ll be caning their tunes for the foreseeable
General Observations: Elias is Hot Elias’s English has improved Significantly Elias nodded and said nothing when she said welcome because that’s what a real punk band would do Drummer has one sleeve rolled up higher than the other and has 2 sets of back up sticks Bass player some times only plucks one string (very concerned) Elias made an interesting Scream during pain killer Elias is wearing a boss suit jacket
i mean i guess. but which era of bad seeds does this remind you of? None of the bad seeds albums i have heard are as upbeat and guitar driven as iceage. But their slower are certainly very Bad seeds reminiscent, i'd say
Robbie Dadomo-Edgington Go and listen to No Pussy Blues anything these guys have written I bet, I don’t actually listen to Iceage I just clicked on it because I do it with all Kexp videos they’re quite good though!
And not everything has to have a perfect vocal performance this is one of the most no fucks given bands and the fact that they are so critical acclaimed is amazing

If you see them again this year, please tell them Colombia's waiting for them :(

Yeah, they remind me of The Velvet Underground too, and also The Bad Seeds.

I was at that show too and they signed stuff for me as well!

When she introduces the band and the singer just down right denies to say a hello like most bands. Down right cold.... like an ice age....
l laughed so hard! xD
l guess they never go out of character in their shows
I see what you did there haha
He did nod tho, so I guess it’s something. Lol.
Yeah that's just rude
Not rude, he's from Scandinavia - it's a cultural difference. Same deal with Northern Europe. It's a performance and they probably have persona's they've made for being on stage
the silent nod at the beginning wasn't rude, it established his character from the very start and drew the audience in with the mystery

Right, I don't think is a big deal... Has not anything to do with punk
This being said I think I would have said hello myself
drew you in? oh my god please. WAKE UP .
So great that they didn’t lose that punk energy from the first records. Iceage has something to prove by themselves.
Ice Age is a really cool band! Very high energy. Would be awesome to see them live.
I'm seeing them next month, looking forward to it
@@jakelandon7170 how awesome!

The first song sounds a lot like venus in furs from the velvet underground.
adore beyondless
The drums are great
Communions next please! :)
Johan looks sick, but I still love him a lot
I went into a public restroom, and then I saw the title of this video, and I literally SCREAMED “HELL YE!”, damn this video got me too exited
you can tell Elias has so much to say but his english only takes him so far and then he gives up
kinda
@@mrbiba-iq4qm he's like that in danish too though
@@RemeziMusic I think he just is introverted then
This is unbelievable, it's so good
The guitarist looks like Jan Curtis! Awesome band!
General Observations:
Elias is Hot
Elias’s English has improved Significantly
Elias nodded and said nothing when she said welcome because that’s what a real punk band would do
Drummer has one sleeve rolled up higher than the other and has 2 sets of back up sticks
Bass player some times only plucks one string (very concerned)
Elias made an interesting Scream during pain killer
Elias is wearing a boss suit jacket
as a bass player I find it more difficult to pluck one string than multiple. When I see bass players do it nonchalantly I get a bit jelly
xddddddddddddd cringy af
Hopefully you don’t mean Hugo Boss jacket. They made uniforms for the nazi’s
Your comment is so on point. Love it.
groovy!!! the violin is dope. the bass is crazy
so happy that Johan is healthy again.
was he ill at one point?
Never clicked so fast
Best band in the world.
Elias is so fucking gorgeous and his voice and music is art
got to appreciate those little segue in each song to another
iceage é uma banda do caralho, a performance é maravilhosa
Seattle is sacred. Great interview. Even better performance.
I never realized it but the singer kind of sounds like how tommy wiseau talks.
Now I can't un-hear that :(
Oh. Hi doggie.
Jsksjdjdjjsis yes, oh god, no, why
Oh thats cold.
Hurrah for Ice Age!!!
Proud Of My Boys !!!!!!!
Good thing that there is no one in the comments asking them to come to brazil
COME TO BRAZIL !!

Hahahahahahaha

COME TO BRAZIL!!!!
that scream during painkiller is some serious andrew eldritch stuff, love it.
Getting Bunnymen meets Swervedriver from this performance for some reason. Never made that association with IA before...
Just great!
Dicen que Elias no saluda a la Sandra porque su novia no lo deja
Oh no. Someone is speaking the despacito language
Se enoja la Sky

That violinist is wild!
Love this band. Vocals kinda reminds me of Leonardo Di Caprio in Gilbert Grape in a real bad mood but it's ok. Songs are great.
Yes!!! haha
yesss
Props to Mrs Waters, she handled this dude like the professional she is! 💪🏽
boi he said thanks for having us
Ben Waterman he didnt answer crap when she asked him questions about the band...

The singer is way too excited when he meets people, he needs to calm down.
Jonathan Franzen at the violin
What a cool edgy sound. Love the violin!! They are awesome!

Great people skills
Philip Lane mood
Why doesn’t he just put the headphones on
willJL20 so he can hear himself sing and control his voice.
Incredibly tight band.
The singer looks like he hadn't washed his hair in 20 years
lol
Bad Seeds
I was getting that too
i mean i guess. but which era of bad seeds does this remind you of? None of the bad seeds albums i have heard are as upbeat and guitar driven as iceage. But their slower are certainly very Bad seeds reminiscent, i'd say
More like Nicks other band Grinderman
Iceage > Grinderman

yesdssssss
this violinist is identical to Dax Riggs with glasses
Skinny hipster Dax
These guys are Nick Cave fans.
Frontman's not great at the old introductions is he?
I've heard them in other interviews and their English isn't great, you can kind of tell it's why they don't want to talk a lot or anything
yeah, no I highly doubt that that is the reason
the frontamn has an american gf, so really dont think that's why
Era do Gelo
هذا الرجل معقّد مثل الفيزياء و مثير مثل طلقة مسدس ويعبث مع أصدقائه بالزمن
I’m surprised they even spoke back to her
Does anyone feel like catch it is very much inspired by "Venus in furs"?
There’s something about men who sing

solipsistic.
Johnnny popped too many Xanax gotta stop listening to that trap rap shitty face tattoo garbage and escape the coma
best Ian Curtis wannabe i've ever seen
meh
no soul.
directly from 90s... But with much less talent
Name any band from the 90s who sounds like Iceage does?
Slowwhands Hopefully none because he can’t sing lol. And the music is just noise.
More like raw post punk from the 80/ very unique energetic stuff that the average listener would not understand.
Also music is noise
And not everything has to have a perfect vocal performance this is one of the most no fucks given bands and the fact that they are so critical acclaimed is amazing
The singer is so groany and miserable sounding. The music is good the vocals are trash.
Bad vocals are a staple of punk rock, I don't see the issue
You need to listen to more punk rock or never say that again
Violin ruins it.
Wow awful.
Dude on the fiddle is slaying it.
