Clicked on this the moment I saw it. How have I not seen this until now? I'm so happy to see this. EITS is a group that means a lot to me. They were the first band I heard at the age of 13/14 outside of any mainstream radio context. At that time I didn't even think an underground context like that existed and that blew me away., sending me off on a treasure hunt for music for the first time in the early days of file sharing and Myspace and the like. They were also the first group I'd ever heard play without words or singing and I still remember being baffled by that idea even though it doesn't seem so strange now. "Your Hand in Mine" still hits hard for me, since I think about how it helped me with a lot of inner grief and loneliness at that age what with having no friends and generally feeling distant from everyone around me. EITS fixed the hole in me and now I'm a lot better as a person. Essentially, I just wanna say, thank you for being there.
Excellent comment! cheers!
I haven't been this happy to see something in my subscriptions in a long time.
I first saw them live in 2001 and i was blown away. I've loved them ever since. This is nostalgia juice for me
their concert is one of the happiest moments of my life.
Same
I used to photograph concerts for a living, have been to hundreds of shows and seen probably close to 500 artists live and I wholeheartedly agree with you.
The first time I saw them live I felt so good! 😊
How strange, innocence... My wife decided she wanted to leave me during one of their shows, so I like how we can represent two sides of the same coin!
before falling in love with their music I saw them basically by accident. I heard there was a show at the Wilma
in Missoula MT. I went by myself but it wasn't till a couple weeks later that I really appreciated what they were doing.
One of the best performance of Explosion In The Sky. I watched it over and over again. I came back to listen it again before the end of 2022. I didn't realize this video was from 6 years age. Time is running so fast....

Everything about this band is so good.
2022 and still always coming back for this amazing performance!
These guys are from another planet
Nah, just Texas.😉
Compositions are insanely complicated and its takes ages to get so precise. One mindblowing band!!!
I teach at an inner city high school in New Jersey and play EITS every morning while the students enter the class while I slow clap.
thats how you reach these kids?
The principal walks by my classroom and does this i.imgur.com/o8YPxGg.mp4
How do I reeeeeeeeach these kids?
Fo real... i use to work at an old people home serving coffee and a lot of them were distressed, unhappy, and didn't want to be there just sitting down in a lounge area because their orderly's didn't want to deal with them. I use to blast EITS and they became so tranquil that it looked like they made their peace, accepted their faith and were ready to die.
Proximus Daviticus EITS... the new lorazepam
Your group speak volumes about what you are !!!
true musicians, true artists. really happy to know there are bands like this still around.
I saw them this year for the first time and they blew me away. Truly one of the great musical experiences of my life.
man I wish I was there or at any of their shows..
I saw them live in Houston. I wept the whole time. So moving. So beautiful.
The whole band seems like they're musicians, Pure musicians.

I seen and got to meet these dudes before they played and I was like a complete fan at 17 years old, never forget that gig. Now I'm 31 and seen a lot of bands but that's still one of my favourite gigs ever. What a band.
Dude. I just turned 31. I listened to EITS when I was 17 too.
Saw them in concert last August, totally recommend it, the light show absolutely adds to the experience.
Kinda wild knowing that I've been listening to these guys for 16 years.
Wow, bro, are you still listening to them? If so, that's amazing! I ve been listening to their music for only 13 years, but that's a million events in life, experienced listening to their tracks!
Your music really touches me, makes me feel being loved~
thanks from Hong Kong💕
Great pleasure to see them perform. Love from Turkey!
I weep when seeing them live

I had a really shitty day, then I watched this and I'm feeling better now.
Seeing how the magic is made in no way takes away from this magic

Awesome to see global locations noted by fans. Love from a Hawaii boy in Indiana!
Chee pono!
I found this band in 2016 and instantly fell in love with. I used to listen to them without really knowing anything about them. It's so nice to actually see you all and hear you play 💖💗
and it's actually so crazy I found them in youtube so randomly with my high school boyfriend when we were teenagers. I still feel so connected to your music. He passed away a few years later, but I still feel a bond between him and your music. Thank you for that ❤🩹
Interesting sounds. Original... great song titles too! Hello from England ✌
Two things that I really love; explosions and KEXP!
Thanks!
The ultimate combo indeed..
KEXPlosions
man this was exciting when they came out with this new music. seeing them in concert is one of things i want to do most once pandemic lockdown is over
They are worth the ticket price and the bag of shrooms.
@@gumborambo4540 haha i'll hold off on the shrooms, but yes they are
Best 29:55 mins om my day. That was awesome.
They are not in it for the money. Great stuff, very unique
Their performance at Royal Oak in 2011 was absolutely spiritual. Cold Dead is one of my absolute all time favorite albums. Incredible
cold dead❤
So good. I love their discography but that one stands out the most for me
what a gift to this race
So beautiful!
This version of Wilderness sounds way way better to me than the one on the album. Somehow more organic and much more emotional.
WOW SUCH a powerful performance! I love the Dulcimer!!!!!!!!!
man, what amazing music.
Great job KEXP, as always - Love from France
Esta música calma el alma y aclara los pensamientos, el Post-Rock es lo mejor!
OMFG is that Thai/ Cambodian instrument (Khim - a hammered dulcimer) I just saw??? I've been playing that thing since I was little, all for traditional songs of course. And I've been their fan for a long long time....Khim in post-rock music....this is so unbelievable lol You guys are super cool!!!
Absolutely was blown away by the performance. I'd heard, only once before, of the hammered dulcimer; unfortunately, I cannot recall where. i totally enjoyed the performance. Thank you to both Explosions In The Sky and KEXP :)
" The hammered dulcimer probably originated in the Middle East about 900
A.D. and is related to the much older psaltery. It spread from there across
North Africa and was brought into Europe by the Spanish Moors during the
12th century A.D. It is possible that hammered dulcimers were played even
earlier than this in Ireland, where they were called "tympanons."
Throughout the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the dulcimer remained
a popular instrument in both eastern and western Europe. It was known
by different names in different countries. For example, the dulcimer was
called a "tympanon" in France, a "hackbrett" in Germany,
and a "cymbalon" in Hungary."

Coldplay's Life In Technicolor uses it a lot
Tibor Roussou Check out "House Of Waters"
amazing!
Very nice performance, nice setup. Cheers from the Netherlands ✌😆
Awesome driving music!
Never heard them before. OMG! Just brilliant.
Thank you very much KEXP. You guys always trying to do your best. Great job! Greetings from Turkey.
GREAT!
PLEASE surprise the hell out of me by playing a song off of Wilderness on Feb 6 in KC.

16:34 "People who don't know us by name, know us by sound"
That was me for 6 years lol.
Hey KEXP team. Can you please add at which point in the video the songs start? I would be more that happy, if you added this start time thingy in the description. Greetings from Slovenia :)

Great interview. Great band. Props for this all around.
This is the greatest timing, see the in four days!!
I love the clanging of the spring reverb at 2:39
love Explosions in the sky
Awesome! Coño Explosions is the best!
Wow
To me these guys are still the lords of post rock. Still unique and creative
The ending really made this.
Back again!
kexp should get Mogwai to come in and perform
And God is an Astronaut ...and The Mercury Program. ..and Maserati. Dammit there's too many good post-rock bands.
I'd die if KEXP got The Mercury Program to perform in the studio
tortoise, isotope 217, etc
Iceage
That little KEXP studio would collapse under the sheer weight of Mogwai's guitars!
Amazing performance ❤
just amazing.
Thanks for the upload!

Thanks KEXP!
Holy dopamine rush.
For some reason, even though I watched them stream live from Coachella in 2012, I never thought to look up EITS on UA-cam. Level unlocked.
Thanks KEXP!!
Wow so amazing
beautiful
Legit AF.. RESPECT
This "Hammered dulcimer" sounds like "Qanun", it's amazing.
It's actually more like the Santur. In fact, it probably is a Santur.
They look similar, but Qanun is played by plucking, whereas Santur is played with small hammers (hence "hammered dulcimer").
Both of these instruments have spread quite far from their Persian origins.
I’m pretty certain it is a Khim from Thailand, judging from how it looks and sounds.
The instrument's name is SANTOOR the ancient IRANIAN instrument which is played in Iranian classic music.
