same here - i cruise around youtube a lot just hitting random links that look like they might be interesting. the name all them witches caught my eye, so i clicked and ... wow, these guys are fucking brilliant. best "find" of 2019 (so far).
It's impossible to understate how much KEXP has done for rock music... great hosts, classic interviews, unbeatable mixing/sound, and of course exposing gem bands to those who want to discover them. Thank you from a long-time fan from Canada!
Another band discovered through KEXP - these guys have great energy, super tight, moody grooves and fantastic overall sound from a 3-piece.

I just cant fucking wrap my head around that this was basically live recording and not rehearsed in the studio for days. What in the actual fuck, this sounds better than alot of albums, while basically being a live show, wtf...
I know, man. They're so good, that their albums *almost* pale in comparison to the live versions; never the same song twice... That's when you know a band is really good hahaha ;)

I don't like the super compressed drums. They sound more natural on the studio version. But the rest of the band sounds amazing

every kexp version is better than every studio version for ATW it seems. i really cannot get myself to like the mix / vocals for much of their studio works :/ these KEXP sessions are near flawless too i dont understand
These guys are so dialed in, it's wild. Even if you know nothing about music, you know these guys are doing something special here. Very cool.

Rock has become a diamond in the ruff. I am also out of the loop on many rock bands & found ATW from a reddit post with 3 upvotes on their second album. It really is a shame corporations are trying to kill the genre in order to destroy antiestablishment & individual expressionism. They want the kids to love their corporate authorities and listen to droning repetitive rhythm's like hypnosis "lofi" / "relaxing" / "chill" 80s videogame synth beats. It's horrid to see a whole musical style come under planned obsolescence over ageism. What's worst is, those kids grew up accepting the world of their parents given without true rebellion, unlike many generations prior who didn't want to be their parents & chose to live their own lives. The youth claim to be different but they are just like the parents of the 40s & 50s trusting all forms of "new" authority, they love being immersed in the collective without valuing their individual uniqueness. I'll bet your old enough to remember the word Normal wasn't apart of the lexicon until the nuclear family and once again we have, the "new normal". Rock shouldn't be normal, it's for the misfits & outcasts.

I've "discovered" bands such as Umphrey's McGee and ATW that were 'new' to me over the years. And then MUCH credit here to KEXP, NPR Tiny Desk, and other such avenues

My skeptic friends would fall asleep if I played them this. There's nothing amazing about it. It's a bunch of thirty year olds trying to be hip and retro, pushing buttons that Hawkwind and the MC5 pushed forty-plus years ago.

The only real way to sell people on music they didn't find themselves is to get them to go to a live show. That worked with my friend who didn't care for Ty Segall until he saw him live.

That's so fucking wild to see a GemsOnVHS comment on an All Them Witches video. I follow and watch your videos on the regular (I love some Sierra Ferrell, so fucking good!!!).. So many great musicians you highlight for the world to see!!! I suppose it makes sense that they played in your living room at one point with all the time you spend in Tennessee.
this dude has the craziest rick bass I've ever seen, a part of it's been cut off and its so grimy looking. Absolutely iconic though.
He bought it off a leftie player who'd done it.
And then had a luthier in Nashville make a copy of it for touring. I think the luthier worked with Eastside Music Supply in Nashville as well.

I need to express my extreme gratitude for KEXP for this performance. This was my introduction to All Them Witches a couple years ago. They’ve since become damn near my very favorite band. So much so that I went to Austin Tx to see 2 of their 3 nights last week and good lord they absolutely delivered. Perhaps the best live performance I’ve been to in the last 20 years. Exceptional band.
I wanna go.
The host is superbly casual and professional at the same time..
All that’s good in music is right here. I can hear the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Floyd, Jimi, Black Sabbath, Santana and early AIC and yet it’s all their own. Incredible! Who said rock was dead! I’m obsessed! @allthemwitches you are blowing my mind!

I am blessed to live in Seattle and just have kexp always been there for me. From live music down the street to always having the radio in my car tuned in.

I never leave comments in videos. I feel I must here. This is "one of the best" if not "the best band" of the past decade.There are few artists that can compare, and I find myself comparing "other music" to "them" rather than "their music" to "others".

But they are great. There is zero gimmick to them. No ones wailing at the top of their lungs through the whole song, the guitarist isnt beating off the whole time. They're playing songs, for the song. Theres lots of restraint in their playing. Lots of space and nothings ever rushed. To me that makes them a great band

I'm not lobbying people; listen to whatever dubious stuff you want to. I'm simply expressing my opinion as someone who cares about music, makes music, and has spent thousands of hours listening to the bands that this band is being compared to. A band needs to do something other than cop the vibe and style of [INSERT NAME OF COOL OLD BAND] to be remotely as good as it was. Elvis impersonators are not as cool as Elvis was. The Monkees were not as cool as the Beatles were. If you want to be as good as the immortals you can start by writing a great song.
There seems to have been a Quentin Tarantino-ation of our culture, where it is considered a great artistic virtue to make references, nods, and asides to old movies, music, and even entire decades. Either that, or people are truly lacking in ideas and therefore go backwards in time to pirate them.

The fact that you say they are lacking in ideas is laughable. Compare their first LP to their last and you will see.They are never the same, you are never the same, nothing's ever the same... You have no idea what you are talking about. They aren't better or worse than any of the bands mentioned, they are different and that's what makes them great.

I’m a drummer myself, and f**kin hell do I dig this band - and especially the KEXP sessions. My first love moment was with Jonathan Wilson some years ago when I was at home on sickleave.
Anyways.. I’ll give to all of them here, but mister guitarist is totally RIPPIN’ it on Blood and sand.. LOVE that guitar sound.. sends chills over the whole body. Rock on dudes!! 🤘🏼🔥🍺🍺

Just saw these dudes last month in a basement under a church in Philly. One of the best and most professional sounding heavy Rock bands out there. Heavy blues, heavy psych and Stoner Doom, you can’t go wrong with that.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned that "Stranglehold" Nugent guitar sound here. Pretty badass.
