The Bee And The Rose (1908) Segundo de Chomón

  • This early silent film was released in France by creator / director Segundo de Chomón in 1908.
    The film shows springtime birds spiraling around the screen them appear several ladies in bee costumes. They do a dance number around the flowers and the queen bee appears and moves about with them and then leaves. The flowers them turn into ladies with flowers in their hair and the bee and flower ladies dance.
    Meanwhile the queen bee nearby dances with and then is pulled away by a costumed man dressed as a spider. He gives her a flower and disappears. When she breathes in the fragrance of the flower she falls unconscious on a rock. The spider appears above her and attempt to make his web however the bee ladies appear and swish him away. They wake the queen and they all dance around and the film ends.
