This film was released in 1907 and was directed by Segundo de Chomón in France. A sculptor creates several faces in clay following each up with a slap for some odd reason.

This looks like a carnival/side-show act, must have been entertaining to see it live. I'm sure the sculptor had something funny to say about each face.

The odd reason is he's hyper and needs to do something with his hands constantly, so once he makes an image, he must immediately start tearing it down. (Just a theory.)

I think it’s about the material as well. You have to keep this mud warm so it’s easy to transform it in something else. And we can’t forget the flex, create such a peace of art and destroy it immediately. It’s like saying ‘i can do this any time, no bother’
