Thank you so much for suggesting 223 I think I’m finally done with load development. Shooting tiny holes and pushing just over 3k!! That’s all I wanted. Definitely keep your eye open for a carbon ring with this round. I’m pretty damn sure that’s what was causing velocity spikes and making me blow holes in the primer every so often. It was really strange I was using n550 and it was looking really good. I’d load up like 5 rounds at 29gr 2 would shoot fine then the 3rd would run super hot blow a hole I’d scratch my head and the next 2 would be fine. It was throwing me for a loop till I bore scoped the barrel today seen the ring cleaned it off then when back out and now it’s consistent. I’m gonna take another run at 550 but at least I have 1 awesome load! Thanks again
I think the guy is right if you want to do good at PRS. You seem to jump on the latest and maybe not the greatest new cartridge. 6 BR or BRA is a proven (easy button) cartridge with tons of great load data that works. Enjoyed the video.
Glad to see you're alive and well! I dig the new rig. Back to the DPC I see. Hell, I launched some 134 ELD-Ms at 3,250fps from my 32" 25CM last weekend. I just wanted to see where the top was, I'm not gaming with mine.. and I suppose I can see where those fella's telling you to tune it down are coming from. Gotta get all of the fundamentals dialed in first. Don't work too much, try and enjoy all of the nice weather you can.
I love that 25CM... and it has a place. For me, coming from competition pistol shooting, this whole PRS thing is a learning curve. I get in a shooting sport and expect to be on top... not the case with PRS. So, it has become a challenge..... "I'll figure this shit out!...I hope". We'll see. I need the fundamentals dialed for sure....
@@imjustadude it’s a process were you have to drill a hole through the bottom of the case that’s stuck. And you tap threads in the case so that you can use a bolt to pull it out. I’ve used the system to remove stuck cases in a die before I started using lanolin to prevent them from sticking. Midway USA is where I purchased mine and it is called stuck case remover. It looks like nearly every reloader company sells them at least the popular brands. I don’t think it would be a problem using the dye that it comes with. You just need to use a socket and an extension to get it down in there. Good luck, my friend!
@@justflylow Except I believe the case head is gone.. He needs to wrap an old cleaning brush in patches and glue, stuff it up in the half a case, let it dry.. and give it a tug like a 15 yr. old! I use an old cleaning brush with a thick rubber "condom" stretched over it. I've easily extracted 50+ pieces of brass from bolt guns to ARs. .223 to 35 Whelen.. With enough Hot loads, it inevitably seems to happen. Even with minimal headspace/shoulder bump.
@@benbowditch9265 if the case head is missing then he could use an easy out to get it free? It must be more complicated than that. A dry wall anchor might grab it if the head is missing. I know he doesn’t want to damage the chamber so I am sure he will find a solution. If all else fails he could have someone with a chamber cutter and run that in there. It would peel out the brass with ease.
Just wanna throw this out there. I’ve got the 22 arc (so pretty similar) and I have never had load development take this long. There is obviously some wicked potential but I still haven’t quite got it dialed in just yet. I’ve managed to get the 75gr bergers done (.3 ) but I’m really struggling with the 88’s. probably 8 different powders so far. Atm we’re playing with n550. Good luck my friend. This cartridge is a sweet beautiful bitch
N550????? Really? Funny, I accidentally ordered some of that for my 25 Creedmoor, and after I realized I'd messed up, I wondered what I'd use it for. Let me know how the N550 works for ya. For the past year I've been doing load development for the 22DPC. Hornady finally released load data for the 22ARC (I was loading down 6ARC data in the past). I've noticed that what the big H has put out for the 22ARC is a bit conservative compared to what I've been running in the 22DPC. The 22ARC is supposed to have a bit more case volume vs the 22DPC. Whatever the case, I've had pretty good luck with CFE223 at 27 grains with the 85.5 Berger and 22" barrel and 27 grains of Varget in the bolt gun 22DPC... I think. I've done so much load testing with this round I really can't remember what's what, gasser vs bolt, 22" gasser vs 18" gasser. I have a ton of it on my channel. I need to watch what I've posted in the past LOL!! The 18" and 22" barrel I'm shootin on the gasser is a 1/7.5 twist. Kenny (from dpgunworks.com) sent me a 1/7 twist barrel for my bolt 22dpc. It seems to stabilize the 85+ grain bullets much better. What twist rate are you running?
@@imjustadude I’m running a 7 twist on a 24” bolt gun. Still waiting on the 22” proof barrel for my gasser but it also has a 7. I’ll have to give 223 a try I never had much luck with vargit. My goal is to get the 88’s moving at 3000fps that way the ballistics will match my 7 saum hunting rig out to 1000 yards. And I can use it as a sort of trainer. I managed to get there with the n550 but it was blowing holes through the primers lol. Good thing you posted that vid a while ago that convinced me to keep my safety glasses on. 550 was happier in the high 2800’s. I’m using Gordon’s reloading tools to get load data. It’s like quick load except free. They don’t have 22 arc yet so I’m using 22 ppc and correct the case volume with grains of water I measured from my own 22 arc cases. You should give it a try. I’ve found it to be pretty accurate. Hornadys load data is so limited and you’re right it is pretty conservative. We just need to be careful what muzzle device we use lol (seen that vid too)
I think staball match is too slow of a powder for this cartridge? I don’t think you’re getting a full burn. (I’m not 100%) maybe a magnum primer?? So I was watching those bench rest guys and they have a bunch of they’re main cartridges loaded up and then a few with 2-10ths more powder and then a few with 2-10ths less and they’ll move between them as the temps start to change. Just a suggestion. This really is a challenging cartridge
I've been working on it for about a year. There are some powders that work very well. I'm just trying to find one more consistent. On a bolt action, it's Varget. On a gasser, it has been CFE223 and everything in between depending on the bullet weight.
Just too much. Little juice for the squeeze I guess. He runs a 6BR, hasn't changed the set up for over 4 years. When he gets a new barrel, it's from the same guy with the same reamer. His deal is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And, once you get tuned in to "what you shoot", don't change it. I'm one that's, "let's try this or go with that...". Not him (and I get it), he sticks with what has worked in the past and doesn't change anything. He's sponsored and can get anything he wants, he simply said, "I've been running this for years and don't change shit". He did say me trying to learn or perfect this sport with a 25CM is silly. There's better rounds out there, all of which are very capable. Shoot a 105 or 109 grain 6mm at 2750 vs a 135g 25 cal, what are you gaining? Maybe more splash, but nothing on recoil, so it's a win/loss secenario. Dope is almost the same, so why run something with more kick. I have to agree I suppose.....
No, but I've had that for a bit. It's funny, in some of my old videos and I watch them now, I'm like "what the fuck are you doing?". Most of the time if it was raining and I was on a short table, I had to make it work. I wouldn't shoot like that now. I told this pro PRS shooter, "I'm a 16 time + national champion in offhand pistol shooting, but have a hard time getting into the top 10% on PRS centerfire rifle....". He picked me apart, but the bipod wasn't one of them. I would like an Accutac or (and it makes me cringe) MDT bipod.
I see. It may work for you, but if you want to give yourself the best chance on the bench, I'd get a good rear bag like an edgewood and a Sinclair F-class bipod or a real benchrest. look at what benchrest shooters use. They use it for a reason, and look how small their groups are. I agree with your friend on the 25 creedmoor vs. 6br, for the most part. a 6br will be much easier too shoot and they are so easy tonload for. I started F-class with a 308 and a biood like yours. that was a hard combo to shoot consistently. my second year, I switched to a 223. it made it much easier to learn to shoot, and my score went up, actually. now I can shoot about anything with confidence and good results.
@@imjustadudeoh yeah, and quit messing around with that preferred barrel blanks stuff. they're a crap shoot. get a bartlein, krieger barrel, or a mullerworks barrel. brux is good also.

There is a tool to get stuck cases from dies. The idea might work but you will need a long drill bit, long tap, and a long bolt.
Do tell
