    Love these! Thanks for sharing! I think some of them have a very Halloweeny feel to them. The tissue paper with the vintage photo oxide spray looks like a tree on the left side with lots of leaves falling. Then the small piece of pattern paper with the espresso spray reminds me of the Hound of the Baskersville. Love them!

    These look fantastic!!! Nice job. I love them all. I thought "treasure map" too with the darker one. You need a treasure map napkin or tissue paper!!! Think pattern piece is especially nice. But I like them all same. I wonder if coloring paper BEFORE putting glue on would be good??
    I've done 1 piece of white napkin with coffee glue before. It came out great. Just haven't gotten to making more. Thx for great video. Austin,TX USA

    Just found your channel. Love the technique. I will have to try it. I live in SW Georgia and it is very humid here. I wonder if you heated your oven to say 200 and turned off and place papers in oven over night if that would help drying and stickiness.

    I'm a little confused. When you use a bag from a cereal box, is that part of the paper when done? Or do you peel the material from it and reuse the cereal bag? Plus, you also mentioned mats. Where do you buy those? Your end result is beautiful!

    • @WonderfullyMadeHandcrafting
      @WonderfullyMadeHandcrafting  Рік тому

      I just use the cereal bags as a place to lay the napkins/etc. while they dry since the napkins don’t stick to it when you they dry and you tear them away. You could also use non-stick mats like this… shrsl.com/3vi13

    Is the rice paper similar to oil paper? How do you adhere it the pages of your book? Glue?

    • @WonderfullyMadeHandcrafting

      I’ll have to look up oil paper, so I’m not sure exactly… I use them as pages in junk journals with a pamphlet stitch, or I have created pockets with them by just using my Bearly arts liquid craft glue. :)

    Please don’t be offended, but why is everyone calling this “rice paper”? I do traditional Chinese brush painting, on Xuan, or “rice paper”..which isn’t actually made from rice. (Henry Li, a professional artist, has some videos touring a traditional paper factory in China)
    This glue paper, (which, to be honest, is something we used to do in the 60’s and make pins and stickers cut out of it..but we just called it glue paper), is NOTHING like actual Xuan or “rice paper”. I have probably 8 different types, raw, (unsized), semi-raw, (partially sized) and ripe, (sized) papers, both handmade and machine made, as well as Korean bamboo paper they call rice paper. NONE, even the paper I sized myself with alum and peach sap gum, have a plastic feel like glue paper.
    Just trying to understand how this got renamed “rice paper”?
    Your video and others were recommended next to my Chinese painting friends videos. I highly doubt this would be a good medium for watercolor.

    • @ruthsonger2178
      @ruthsonger2178 Рік тому +6

      Point taken. BUT if real rice paper isn't made from actual rice then someone could argue that it was misnamed too! It's best not to get too hung up on names and just go with the flow. Of course, if you are using rice paper as a painting substrate then you should already know the difference in the same way that I know the difference between real "onion skin" paper and whatever it is these days they are calling onion skin paper. Creating is supposed to be fun and not a splicing and dicing of words and names.

    I've don't comment often on video's but if your going to recreate a persons video you should give them a mention. Treasure Books, had this Rice Paper video out before yours and she explained how she came up with the technique of doing the edges of paper like you demonstrated. Lets all raise each other up and not step on anyone's back to do it.

    • @WonderfullyMadeHandcrafting
      @WonderfullyMadeHandcrafting  Рік тому +1

      Hi Missy!
      Thanks for watching. I didn’t claim at all to come up with this technique. I simply thought I would video my process and share it with my own followers. I’ve seen this done by many people on UA-cam and didn’t know who came up with it “originally” (although someone else on here commented that this has been done since the 70’s). I’ll happily add her video to my description, although that’s not who I originally saw it done by here on UA-cam. I’m clearly not attempting to “step on anyone’s toes,” just thought I would share my process. You’ll be happy to see her video tagged in my description now. Again, thanks for your input and have a wonderful day.

    • @WonderfullyMadeHandcrafting
      @WonderfullyMadeHandcrafting  Рік тому

      Also, as you can tell from my description (which I’ve copied and pasted), I didn’t claim it was “my idea”…. I saw it done by so many people I didn’t know who the “original idea” came from.
      From Description:
      “I know that creating your own faux rice paper has been trending here in the papercrafting community, and I decided to jump on the bandwagon and show you how I created my own using Dollar Tree Supplies.”
