First time I heard about Cynthia I thought she was a badass unstoppable force of nature. The I played Platinum and found out she's actually a cinnamon roll who happens to be a very strong archeologist.
Cynthia is ambiguous on a lot more than where she lives. In Black and White, a trainer mentions that Cynthia supposedly goes swimming at night as part of her exploration of a nearby area. However, that same trainer mentions that if anyone tries to get close to Cynthia at night as she's doing this, she goes running, and actively mentions that Cynthia doesn't want anyone to see her in a swimsuit. Between that and her hiding where she lives, it suggests that Cynthia herself does not like opening up to or exposing herself to other people (no, not in that way, you perv). She is very guarded with her personal life, never letting anyone ever truly get close to her. This characterization seems very consistent across every incarnation. Normally, this guardedness suggests insecurity, but considering she never lashes out against anyone when faced with it, it seems like she's just embarrassed by what she hides. Like she has interests that she doesn't think aren't bad, but she'd rather keep hidden anyway.

Getting closer, she saw him and became enraged, and splashed water into his face. She turned him into a Large Stag and set his hunting dogs onto him. He ran as fast as he could but couldn't outrun his specialty trained dogs.

Everyone loves Cynthia. Her final battle was so epic and she was the first champion I ever fought. Also, she makes good appearances in the anime, games, and Diamond and Pearl Adventure manga. (Not pokemon advertures. Diamond and Pearl Adventure is much better). She also has a backstory and a personality.

Honestly, I fell in love with her because she was just helpful and appeared so much , open to talking to you all the time, and giving you tidbits of who she is. I think what really did it for me though is that I never really caught onto her being the champion, so when I met her there I was so baffled at how humanized this champion was. Impactful tbh. Gen 4 is underrated!

+BJGvideos I don't think it was that bad, I do however, don't like how they didn't make him battle/made him look much older than he is. I like that they made him have an alter ego, it was smart since no one would have suspected him being the master mind behind Team Galactic. Only the anime version doesn't make you feel sympathy towards him when he technically dies at the end. I love all versions of him the same regardless.

Probably the only one where he looks like he could be relatively close to his actual age is DPA but even that puts some massive strain on the timeline because he would have had to have been in Galactic in his mid-teens for a certain other character to have gotten involved. Sure he has the same name and looks almost the same, but his entire goal was something he says in the games he'll never do because it would mean he could never accomplish his goal. He says directly in Platinum that he would never "go off somewhere alone" (and yes I know he stays in the Distortion World but he isn't stuck there and can leave as easily as you and Cynthia do). And he basically tells everyone that the new creation is only for him. Yeah I know there's that scene after the speech, but it's almost certain that he meant the godly power was only for him, because he later confirmed that there would in fact be others there. I feel like the anime writers played up to the "world only for me" line and decided they knew everything they had to.

I think they made Cyrus that way to turn him into a cliche villain. I guess it was less more tike consuming for the writers instead of expanding his character. Cyrus as a character had so much potential to be one of the greatest villain in DPP, heck maybe the whole series. Its too bad. I felt that Ghetsis fell victim to that as well.
I can still remember that I fell in love with Cynthia from the pokemon specials manga when she barges into team Galactic hq and that badass battle that ensues. Another memorable scene (though Cynthia isn’t directly involved) is when her Garchomp sees Cyrus in Cynthia’s hometown and outright attacks him; it really shows the independence and personality of her pokemon
Considering her team..... I'd say MeGaLoVania, coz [S] wake describes very accurately what happened to my team on my first league attempt when I reached her.
Team Rocket sell a cone to Cynthia during the Unova junior cup, thus tricking other people into buying every ice cream they own, due to her popularity. It's one of the few episodes they do something honest that ends in a total success

I love her. Cynthia is the only champ that legitimately had me sweating through the fight. Her Garchop and Spiritomb gave me a really hard time and I won that fight be the skin of my teeth, with one Pokemon left in the red.
If you survived that fight with more than one pokemon, ESPECIALLY in Diamond/Pearl, but also in Platinum, then you either used Action Replay or were a god. You could've bought 999 revives from the store, used none of them against the 4 and she'd blow a hole in them so big, the titanic would look like a bug bite in comparison.
Cynthia is confirmed to be in Sun and Moon, though all we know right now is that she competes in some kind of tournament and you can battle with her or against her

Cynthia's my favorite champion. There's a little nostalgia there since pearl was my first, but her involvement in the story, appearance in other gens and overall personality makes her the greatest for me.
Same. Diamond was my first game as a kid. But I don't think nostalgia has anything to do with it. Cynthia is just straight up the best Champion, or at the very least second best.

to this day, i really appreciate how relatable she is as a character. yes, her and her Garchomp are ultimately unbeatable (since her last appearance), but she is pretty relatable in a lot of ways. her seemingly humble childhood, her apparent humble start as a Pokemon trainer, her passion for ruins and history, and of course, her love for ice cream. at first glance, she just seems like some strong character that no one can ever defeat, but she has a lot of qualities that give her a more down-to-earth feel, and i really appreciate that about her character.

If your core character trait is curiosity, it’s extremely easy to become one of my top ten favorite fictional characters. Cynthia definitely fits that description and then some.
Just a neat thing regarding what you said around 6:23; in the Pokemon Masters mobile game Cynthia says that her interest in archaeology comes from growing up near the Celestic Town ruins as a kid. So you were right on that call!
Considering that I'm using a Garchomp on my diamond team. I think that (in my own head cannon.) Cynthia takes the player under their wing and helps them get stronger.

I like everything about her. Her skills, her sense of style, the music that plays for her (reflecting her aim for greatness and elegance) and even how cute she can be.She's kind, powerful, an avid scholar...What's not to love? Plus she uses some of my personal favorite Pokemon.And she also looks the best out of them all imo.
I mean she techinically isn't. if you play as May, Leaf or Kris them technically YOU are the first female champion Also let's be honest, if she was a man, you wouldn't even acknowledge her
it'd be really cool if after you beat the champion and become the champion yourself, you could go into the "champion room*" and once you step onto a plate, it'd say, " Oh, a challenger is approaching!" and you battle them. * Champion room is just a name a gave to the room in which you find the champion
Fun fact, Cynthia takes up 3/5 of the hardest trainers in pokemon history. DPP, BDSP, and Volo all are some of the hardest trainer battles, and if we really needed to we can include Unova Cynthia making her take up 4/5 or exclude DPP and make it 2/5. Yeah, Cynthia is basically badass, and probably will be one of the if not the toughest trainer battles of all time for a very very long while
What I really like about Cynthia is not only she is a beautiful, great Champion, but also unique as a Trainer. She is smart, badass, had a nice taste of clothes, and an awesome theme. Her appearances in the anime/manga are pretty cool, no doubt, but it's really the games that made her stand out. Like Red, the rematches in Platinum and especially the new Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl made her a very powerful opponent, with her absolute highest level being 88 out of her Garchomp. She's the definition of tough.
These episodes would be SUPER helpful as a resource for anyone who does any kind of Pokemon roleplay. Keep up the good work, and also don't worry about it being too long. The UA-cam algorithm won't mind that much. Ish. I'm willing to watch a longer one/two parter. Also I RP Pokemon... And I play Giovanni. If you think this one was long, I imagine that trying to talk about ALL of Giovanni's appearances in all the media would be the death of you.
Awesome video! I besides Diamond and Pearl adventures (the one with Henrietta and Mitsumi) and Pokémon Platinum I haven’t seen Cynthia too much. The slight differences in her personality and appearance was super cool to find out about, and that fact about the other manga where literally everyone has to team up to defeat Cyrus was super cool! I can still remember that I fell in love with Cynthia from the pokemon specials manga when she barges into team Galactic hq and that badass battle that ensues. Another memorable scene (though Cynthia isn’t directly involved) is when her Garchomp sees Cyrus in Cynthia’s hometown and outright attacks him; it really shows the independence and personality of her pokemon

I love her. Cynthia is the only champ that legitimately had me sweating through the fight. Her Garchop and Spiritomb gave me a really hard time and I won that fight be the skin of my teeth, with one Pokemon left in the red.
Cynthia is lucky because they didnt put in barraskewda in sinnoh
If you survived that fight with more than one pokemon, ESPECIALLY in Diamond/Pearl, but also in Platinum, then you either used Action Replay or were a god. You could've bought 999 revives from the store, used none of them against the 4 and she'd blow a hole in them so big, the titanic would look like a bug bite in comparison.
I surfed her whole team away. Like every other trainer in the game.

Cynthia's my favorite champion. There's a little nostalgia there since pearl was my first, but her involvement in the story, appearance in other gens and overall personality makes her the greatest for me.

to this day, i really appreciate how relatable she is as a character. yes, her and her Garchomp are ultimately unbeatable (since her last appearance), but she is pretty relatable in a lot of ways. her seemingly humble childhood, her apparent humble start as a Pokemon trainer, her passion for ruins and history, and of course, her love for ice cream. at first glance, she just seems like some strong character that no one can ever defeat, but she has a lot of qualities that give her a more down-to-earth feel, and i really appreciate that about her character.

Fun fact, Cynthia takes up 3/5 of the hardest trainers in pokemon history. DPP, BDSP, and Volo all are some of the hardest trainer battles, and if we really needed to we can include Unova Cynthia making her take up 4/5 or exclude DPP and make it 2/5. Yeah, Cynthia is basically badass, and probably will be one of the if not the toughest trainer battles of all time for a very very long while

Cynthia has always been my favorite pokemon league champion, she's just so cool and powerful!!!! :)
What I really like about Cynthia is not only she is a beautiful, great Champion, but also unique as a Trainer. She is smart, badass, had a nice taste of clothes, and an awesome theme. Her appearances in the anime/manga are pretty cool, no doubt, but it's really the games that made her stand out. Like Red, the rematches in Platinum and especially the new Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl made her a very powerful opponent, with her absolute highest level being 88 out of her Garchomp. She's the definition of tough.
These episodes would be SUPER helpful as a resource for anyone who does any kind of Pokemon roleplay. Keep up the good work, and also don't worry about it being too long. The UA-cam algorithm won't mind that much. Ish. I'm willing to watch a longer one/two parter.
