Something you missed in the games, which is hard to notice sometimes, is how silver battles. Early in the game, when he doesn't care about his pokemon or their feelings, silver never uses any healing items, but from memory in the last fight with him he does use full restores. This shows a real change in the character that shows that he cares about the pokemon he trains. Its very subtle and never directly mentioned, but a cool detail still.

When I first saw Silver, there was no question that I thought he was a jerk. Let alone, criminal for the Pokemon he stole. But, looking back, I was kinda a jerk to him myself... I didn't know what everyone called him, and even if I did, I probably would've done the same thing I did, I named him BUTTLET. Hearing him talk trash about strength, I always thought, "God, this guy's a douch." Like I said before, I didn't know his actual name. I heard from my friend when she was talking Pokemon, she mentioned "Silver" I didn't want to look stupid and ask her, "Who the hell is Silver?" and just said, "Hmm." When I got home, I googled Silver and found out he's the rival of SoulSilver (which was the version I was playing at the time). After defeating him in the radio tower, the time where he realized everything, I was all, "Finally you realize." By the time he was becoming more acceptive of things, I learned to like him a lot. I wanted to know more about him and didn't want to finish the game to find out. I went back to Bulbapedia and I was nearly CRYING when I learned his backstory. From that point, every time I beat him, I was thinking, "CAN I GIVE YOU A HUG?! PLEEEAAAAAAASSEE?????" Every time he said, "I'm still too weak. I'm not strong enough yet. I won't give up my dream of becoming the best Pokemon trainer," the thing that really hit me was the fact that he wouldn't give up. I always admired that trait he has, but I was also thinking in the end when he is at Stage 2 (Pokemon evolution reference) "Silver, you're already the best. You're the only trainer that could give me a challenge." In my eyes, becoming the best isn't about getting all the gym leaders. Sure, it would be nice to have 16 badges clipped to your jacket and the bragging rights of beating Red, the thing that makes a trainer the best trainer, is love, loyalty, respect, persistence, kindness, and acceptance. I was shocked because in the original version, his backstory is like a huge joke, I mean... There wasn't a lot to know, except he was just a jerk. I kinda agree the fact that it's a good trainer and he's also my favorite rival, but let's be honest... I've played as Red in Red, Blue and Yellow version when I was 5 or 6 something like that, so for me even if Silver is my favourite rival and is a good trainer, Red is the best trainer of all time and will ever be...

Here we go! I'm relaunching the Character Study series for 2016, and decided that Silver would be the best way to do it! What do you think of Silver? (click read more to read some boring behind the scenes stuff) So, yeah, I've decided to relaunch the Character Study series. I've actually been planning this for a while and have been slowly working on it for the past couple months, planning to release it next month. Unfortunately a certain event (which I'm sure avid Pokemon UA-camr watchers will know what I'm talking about) happened, which forced me to move up the full on release and production of this video by a month. That definitely impacted the quality (at least in my opinion), and on top of that this video tried to talk about one of the biggest Rivals of the games. I've never dealt with a character that has so much info before, and because of that this video sort of drags on in the Game Section. I'm trying to improve though, so any kind of feedback would really help for the next one!
+Mr Buddy Thanks a lot man!!!! The video was great. I would love it if you can make more character studies. How about green/gary i would love a character study on him.
+Mr Buddy I had a bootleg rom from Pokemon Gold way before it was released in America. The main character was called LD I think it would've supposed to be Gold. But the rival's name in that game was Wolf. Don't know why tho. I also noticed that the original artwork for Ariana in Pokemon Stadium 2 looks very similar to Silver original artwork for Gold and Silver.
Silver is, and has always been, my favorite rival. Some of the modern rivals(such as Cheren) have development, but none have any changes so drastic as going from hating the very idea of friendship and stealing a pokemon to becoming best friends with that stolen pokemon. Also, no other rivals have interesting backstories. Also, I might be a little overly-obsessed with gen 2.
In my opinion I want to have a Rival simliar to Silver in Sun and Moon. A Guy who gets a huge Character Developement during the Story. And maybe that they maybe grow friends to the player in the end. Personally the G/S/C Games were always my favorite and Silver always was my favorite Rival. It was much later that I used to know more about him (even after the remake and the manga) and I was surprised that my favorite Rival got such an interesting Backstory.
and now we all know that your rival in sun and moon is just a happy little dog (cuz Hau) i really wish that there would be more badass rivals than those happy rivals. they just dont seem like rivals to me -_-
I prefer the more "friendly" rivals. It's nice to have someone who's supporting you throughout your journey; it's like your own virtual friend. I'd much prefer that rather than having someone like Silver who's constantly putting me down.
well i would agree with you but considering how environment and the place i rather it be a friendly rival, i would rather have the hardcore strength rival in like the B&W game (first game not second)
Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more. He developed so much that if you compare gold/silver arc and heart gold soul silver you start questioning yourself: IS THIS EVEN THE SAME PERSON?
+Estthew Sheehan I don't remember what I used to call him, but I could never call him James cuz it was my character name XD James was like the only male name I knew as a kid and for some reason I always played the male character. I probably named him some sort of insult when playing it... as most kids do XD
I would love to see Silver a lot more in the anime other than Generations. I have never gotten the chance to play the older Gameboy and DS games since I didn’t have enough to buy them in the Philippines, but I’m really interested in Silver’s character (the reason why I’m watching this video). I think despite him being in games I haven’t played, he might be one of my favourite rivals.
Ok, haha actual feedback now. What a great video!! I really loved it and enjoyed how you explained all of Silver's motives and background! You put a lot of effort and care and it shows! While My favorite version of Silver is the Adventures version, I do understand why you didn't want to spoil anything for any potential new readers. Great video! I'm really glad you made it!
Maybe if we end up getting a Let's Go series for Johto, then we could possibly get more answers about Silver like who his mother was and if he ever tried to take back the other Pokémon he stole.
I prefer the manga because the character evolves and you see him grow. Besides, his story is better done, especially when he is small, even in small flashbacks, you get the idea of what his life was like, and why it is like that, in fact, you see that the boy is much more friendly and calm in the manga than in the video game, not to mention that there are characters that he has a certain affection for in the manga, something that does not happen by any means in the game.
i wish silver would make more appearences in the anime and the newer games silver is my all time favorite rival and the only rival that i love and hopefully when ppl make all these pokemon fan games im hoping silver wil be in them and will continue to amaze me
If you could go more in-depth about the manga versions that would be great. Pokemon adventures is undoubtedly my favorite manga and it would be interesting to see more people talk about it.
This was a great video on a great character. Silver is the best in my opinion because of his development from a power hungry character to a caring trainer for his Pokemon. He has an interesting background, which is being the son of the former leader of team rocket. His awesome battle theme captures the darkness and competitive side that Silver has as well. The rivals after don't receive the the type of development that Silver gets because of how friendly they are on my opinion. Friendly rivals aren't bad, but since they already start out loving their Pokemon and you the player, there's not much you can do to develop them into something memorable for the player.
I LOVE Silver! He's my favorite rival! And, while I am a bit embarrassed to admit it, Silver's the Pokémon character who I have the biggest crush on! He's just so . . . *Fangirling*!!! I never play the original games of Gen 2 but I have played HeartGold and SoulSilver and I do read the Pokémon Adventures series. Each time I see him, I get super excited and simply love every moment of him (even when he's being a total jerk and abuses Pokémon). He has the most development of all the characters in the entire Pokémon Universe! I love his personality and how he grows as a character! At first, he seems rather one note and is nothing more than a total jerk, equal to that of any of my bullies. However, he sincerely picks up life lessons and develops more to his character. This is better shown in the Adventures series where he develops a sense of sarcasm, brotherly-love towards Green (the girl), and even gains an interest in a cartoon! I laughed so hard after that last one as it was both so unexpected of him and shows an insanely cute and childish side to him which I've been dying to see! If I lived in the Pokémon Universe, I'd want Silver to be my rival or, better yet, a travel companion! Of course, I'd probably just follow him around despite his hate for it like Mairin did to Alain. I'm not a stalker and I wouldn't do such a thing because of a crush! I'd follow him around because of my concern for his and his Pokémon's wellbeing and would want to teach him about the power of the bond shared between Trainer and Pokémon. Besides, I'd like to travel with a strong Trainer as I'm not exactly the strongest or most confident Trainer in the world (not that I'm a bad Trainer who could only raise weak Pokémon but because I'm not very athletic and am very clumsy (again like Mairin)). Either way, Silver is the best rival and one of if not the best characters in the entire Pokémon Universe!
Honestly when I first watched this video I never heard of him but I got interested I kept researching him and now I got Soulsilver for him specifically(I love the game now) and now I love the manga(pokemon adventures) and game character he's in my top 2 favorite rivals now
I watched that newish pokemon movie for the first time the other day, the one that retells Ash and Pikachus story and revolves around Ho-Oh and the rainbow hero stuff. The villain in that movie, Cross, reminded me of Silver a lot. I think he was strongly based off of him. Silver is my favorite pokemon character, my first pokemon game was Crystal, and i fell in love with him as a kid. Even back then i was impressed by his development throughout the game. I cant believe im only just seeing this video, Silver is so underappreciated and overlooked. I ship him and Blue/Green so hard. Hes so presh in the manga.
Wow ! Just wow... I haven't touched/watched Pokemon for a long time..The last game I played was Pokemon Ruby..My first was Red and second was Gold.. From the time you mentioned Team Rocket, I had a hunch that Giovanni was his father..Seems like when Silver heard about Team Rocket being back, he thought that his father was back too . That's why he was hunting down Team Rocket when you bumped onto him, to go find his father and maybe show him how he has grown to be a great trainer, before you crushed his "strong" pokemon team.. Like Giovanni, who was looking for strong pokemon in Red and Blue but with the meddling of the player he finally realised that Team Rocket was a bad organisation and he had to disband it. Silver also realised that he was walking the wrong path. Like father, like son! That's also why he decided to change his goal so that when he meets his father in the future, he will see how great his child has turned out to be..Much like the player in Red and Blue. Thank you sir, for feeding my mind with many-many theories :D
Hey Mr. Buddy. A horse that I've had for about ten years (I'm only 14) is passing away at some point this week. Hearing this news made me pretty sad- but watching your stuff has helped make me feel better.
+HippoPig21 I'm sorry for your loss :( I can't imagine what it's like to lose something that's been in your life that long. I'm truly sorry, and i'm glad that my videos are helping you feel a little bit better.
Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. Also, she's passing away naturally- she had a good life. Truly, thanks for all the kindness- really wasn't expecting that.
Silver to this day is still my favourite rival! One other thing to note is that in HG/SS after you've fought him in Kanto, if you go and visit Professor Elm his assistant will say that Silver actually tried to return the starter he stole, and was then really happy when Elm let him keep it. This shows that he tried to make up for what he did, and the fact that he was really happy that he could keep the pokemon shows the bond he has now developed with it.
Ash:Silver come on let’s fight together! Silver siping his cup of chocolate:Jessie,James, meowth, get out of here Team rocket:yes sir Ash:how did you- Silver, walking away sassily :special privileges
In a rom hack of fire red called dark violet, silver or kamon (his name in the rom hack) played a somewhat integral part for the story of team rocket and actually catches deoxys for the intent of stopping his father from capturing mewtwo and establishing a new world order. And in the end when team rocket was disbanded, the "celebi time travel" scenario in HG/SS happens and after that he told the protagonist that he released all his pokemon including deoxys and plans to start new in Johto..
I love this series. I hope you will elaborate more on the manga (but i totally understand why you didn't in the video). And i would like to see you do a video on Cyrus or Cheryn
really intelligent analysis, hope this series continues. Great watch! I especially like how you compared his speech from the start of the game to that at the end. Nobody else really seems to be doing this kinda thing, so keep it up. I always wanted Silver in the anime, somehow thought he would make a sinnoh appearance. Definitely do one on Paul as he's my favourite anime character, Iris would be a good point of study for the future
My first game was Crystal and I started with a Totodile. For the longest time growing up, I hated Chikorita just because I associated it with Silver's character. xP IMO though, he's by far the best rival. He has Gary/Blue's meanass personality but a lot more depth, without being a pushover like the later rivals. I've always held Pokemon close to my heart for the kinds of important life lessons it taught me as a kid, and ironically I think having Silver as my first rival helped reinforce those lessons. Because of him, I always wanted to build friendships with my Pokemon and treat them with kindness, so I could prove I was a better trainer then him.
That video was amazing, I wish I had more feedback but really it was perfect, providing a in-depth analysis of the complex character from the game while also touching on his other versions, but the focus was on the most important version.
In the Pokemon I choose You movie the antagonist is a character that draws a parallel to Silver. He is not blue, or Gary, but believes that the path to strength is the same as Silver's. You may want to check that out.
I've always like rivals like Silver and Gary, characters that want to seriously beat you and that you want to beat in return. A friendly rival doesn't feel like a true rival to me but instead just a friend who oh so happens to be on a Pokemon journey just like you.
+Mr Buddy Ss was my first game ever, but you explained more than I could of, but I knew Silver was originally in team rocket from a cheat. Thank you for the info I didn't know, now I can show up the pkmn champion in our school :)
I want Silver to make an appearance. We got both Crystal and Lyra along with Jimmy who was Gold's counterpart (not Ethan the dweeb) Paul was nothing like Silver in my opinion and if Pokemon won't bring back another counterpart for Gold and Silver (if you can even call Paul a counterpart for him) since Crystal and Lyra are both from the games and Johto.
This video came right on time! I'm thinking of reviving a story that's been collecting dust, basically to play around with the numerous theories and mysteries in the Pokemon universe. I don't want to use any official characters as the main cast, but... Silver's position is so perfect.
This is my favorite rival from the games. I liked how you mentioned Pokemon Chronicles. It made me love Typhlosion even more. I also would've loved to see him in the anime.
I love this. I love this so much. Silver is my favourite character in pokemon with a few possible exceptions. He's a character I've thought about a great deal, who I've done my own analysis of many, many times. I even actively RP him in some communities because his character and his growth as an individual made me think about him to a point I wanted to do interactive fiction with him. And with that said: This is a great video. You touched on a lot of things that people miss when thinking about his character, and I'm so grateful. I watched this entire video with a smile on my face because of how thorough and thoughtful you were! I'm subscribed now, and I hope to see more videos like this! You clearly put a lot of thought into these (I've also watched Wally's) and that's something I appreciate so so soooo very much. Thank you for doing these sorts of videos.
Dude i love the comparison of Silver to Paul. Paul was my favourite character in the anime (before N) and Silver is my favourite character from all the games
@Mr Buddy Personally I'm glad that you've brought back the Character Study series and hope that you do more with it. I'd like to see a video on Sabrina's character
Who else watched this "in the future" and it took them a few seconds to realise as to why he didn't mention silver's incarnation in that Pokemon generation episode XD
I've always taken the manga's story line more as fact than the plain, basic one from the games. Silver was kidnapped in the manga and Giovanni spent a long time trying to find him. And Gold and Silver develop a very strong bond throughout the story. I think I like it more because it goes a little more in depth than the game. But yeah, Silver's my favorite character in the whole game series.
I agree with your views on the guy. I find Silver to be the most interesting rival of the games, and I honestly feel like they should include more rivals like him, and less friendly ones.
Silver maybe everyone's favorite rival, but not much for me. Though he's not evil, he's power-hungry and really mean. I'm not a fan of mean rivals because when I imagine in real life, I'd get intimidated and angry for treating their pokemon harshly.
+Izzy Finley Yeah! I'll definitely try to get more females in these (so far i've only done guys which is my bad :s ). Any suggestions on who you'd like to see?
+Mr Buddy The mother from Diamond, Pearl and Platinum has more depths then the others. And the Battle Fribtier girls frim HeartGold and SoulSilver are very mysterious, just as the girl with the white clothes who you can team up with when you want to catch Shaymin in gen4
We need more rivals like this. One thing I would change in later games is make it that your rival isnt always ahead of you (Gary) or behind you trying to catch up. Maybe in later games rival battles could end in a win or loss and the plot would still continue from there versus you having to win in order to progress in the plot.
Silver is my favorite rival.Even though I started in generation 1 I have more I feel more nostalgia for the second generation.I feel like it really bumped pokemon up a notch.Silver being a changing growing character was a nice touch.

+Mr Buddy these are really good videos! so much work and research goes into it an i don't mind waiting because it's worth it.
+Mr Buddy
Good video, man. I like that you gave info about Silver that I didn't know so I learned something.
Thanks from Lord JS.
I thought of a theory! What if the Poke flute could bring things back to life. Snorlaxs on those paths probably died there.
+Mr Buddy Thanks a lot man!!!! The video was great. I would love it if you can make more character studies. How about green/gary i would love a character study on him.
+Mr Buddy
I had a bootleg rom from Pokemon Gold way before it was released in America.
The main character was called LD I think it would've supposed to be Gold. But the rival's name in that game was Wolf. Don't know why tho.
I also noticed that the original artwork for Ariana in Pokemon Stadium 2 looks very similar to Silver original artwork for Gold and Silver.
I always named myself Silver and named my rival Asshat.
travisiswin i always named myself asshat and my rival god
wait
no that's right
Prof. Oak: Hey Asshat this is my grandson God
I didn’t know your Rival was named after Red’s rival
Let's be honest, who doesn't? lol
*unpopular opinion* silver has the absolute most character development out of all rivals ever
When I was 7, I ended up naming him ??? because I thought that was his real name xD
You aren't the only one.
Honestly Dumb
You think thats dumb i named him rival literaly just rival it was my first game and english is kind of my second language
Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science?
Hahaha
I just always named this guy "NOTGARY".
EpicFiddleGuy lol
More like asshat
I mean... Blue from the first games would also qualify as "NOTGARY" lmao
EpicFiddleGuy
I read that as NOTGAY at first.
i frikin hope thats not true
Champion NOTGARY wants to fight
Silver is, and has always been, my favorite rival. Some of the modern rivals(such as Cheren) have development, but none have any changes so drastic as going from hating the very idea of friendship and stealing a pokemon to becoming best friends with that stolen pokemon.
Also, no other rivals have interesting backstories.
Also, I might be a little overly-obsessed with gen 2.
Sameee, gen 2 best gen
And he was a douche not trying to suck you off like the other rivals
TheGamersArcana Thank Arceus we got Gladion
Gladion is basically silvers alolan form
I hate losing!!! Like winning hates me!!!
That dragon f**ker called me an a**hole! Maybe he was right!
Pokémon masters released his character and he’s officially been called Sliver.
The manga has much more storyline though
Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more. He developed so much that if you compare gold/silver arc and heart gold soul silver you start questioning yourself: IS THIS EVEN THE SAME PERSON?
yeah. *WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY* more.
A lot more.
I did think he was a girl at first and called him "Jessie". The 10 year old me was very creative. Not.
+TalesOfGamerz The 10-year-old me was pretty gullible. When he told me his name was "???" I believed him and named him "???".
I just mashed random letters
+Jennifer Zoey I remember I just Mashed AAAAAAAAA wanted the text to go faster hahah
I named him "butt" because 8 year old me thought "Butt sent out Gastly!" was the funniest thing ever.
Hehe...fart jokes
+Estthew Sheehan I don't remember what I used to call him, but I could never call him James cuz it was my character name XD James was like the only male name I knew as a kid and for some reason I always played the male character. I probably named him some sort of insult when playing it... as most kids do XD
16:32 this is why the first time I played HeartGold I named the rival Paul
I would love to see Silver a lot more in the anime other than Generations. I have never gotten the chance to play the older Gameboy and DS games since I didn’t have enough to buy them in the Philippines, but I’m really interested in Silver’s character (the reason why I’m watching this video). I think despite him being in games I haven’t played, he might be one of my favourite rivals.
“I’ll train my Pokémon and...my own heart, too.”
~slightly female looking red haired kid
Ok, haha actual feedback now. What a great video!! I really loved it and enjoyed how you explained all of Silver's motives and background! You put a lot of effort and care and it shows! While My favorite version of Silver is the Adventures version, I do understand why you didn't want to spoil anything for any potential new readers. Great video! I'm really glad you made it!
im gonna say it... I had a game crush on silver
Could you do N?
Igga
Maybe if we end up getting a Let's Go series for Johto, then we could possibly get more answers about Silver like who his mother was and if he ever tried to take back the other Pokémon he stole.
"I'm going to wipe all the weak with my strength".. Sends a Zubat..
Silver is really interesting in the manga, I wish he talked about his manga versions a bit more
This was a great video on a great character.
I agree with everything you just said
I LOVE Silver!
Midnight☪Wonder thou seem to know more than this guy on here
I've hated Silver since I played gold as a kid but so far he's my favorite rival
I just like the all the red heads in Pokémon. Silver is one of them. X3
Honestly when I first watched this video I never heard of him but I got interested I kept researching him and now I got Soulsilver for him specifically(I love the game now) and now I love the manga(pokemon adventures) and game character he's in my top 2 favorite rivals now
I found his character and competitiveness interesting and fun. Never hated him and thought the whole jerk persona was fun to read.
I love the redemption of Silver at the end of the game
Wow !
Definitely the most interesting Pokemon character. It's why I love Gen 2 so much.
He is the reason why I love playing Heartgold and Soulsliver the most.
He's named Silver in Pokémon Masters too.
Hard to find a great narrator. You're good at what you do. Green/Silver have always been my favorites; thanks for the vid.
Hey Mr. Buddy.
A horse that I've had for about ten years (I'm only 14) is passing away at some point this week.
Hearing this news made me pretty sad- but watching your stuff has helped make me feel better.
:(
+HippoPig21 I'm sorry for your loss :( I can't imagine what it's like to lose something that's been in your life that long. I'm truly sorry, and i'm glad that my videos are helping you feel a little bit better.
Thanks for all the kind words, everyone.
Also, she's passing away naturally- she had a good life. Truly, thanks for all the kindness- really wasn't expecting that.
I hope your horse is going to be okay.
+HippoPig21 Don't worry about a thing cuz every little thing is gonna be alright
It is sad Silver wasn’t in the anime as it would’ve been amazing & utterly hilarious to see his interactions with Jessie & James
Ash:Silver come on let’s fight together!
Silver siping his cup of chocolate:Jessie,James, meowth, get out of here
Team rocket:yes sir
Ash:how did you-
Silver,walking away sassily :special privileges
He's to good for this anime
I'm so glad I saw this yesterday just before today's Pokemon Generation episode!
But the most imortant question is...
Why is Silver such a butt?
Did you watch the video
I watch Brandon too.
Because that dragon fucker told me I was an asshole! Maybe he was right!
Michael Cabangbang XD omeger rubyer
his father is giovanni
For the longest time growing up, I hated Chikorita just because I associated it with Silver's character. xP
IMO though, he's by far the best rival.
Silver honestly has the most character development I've seen in any manga/anime/game/book I've ever read/watched/played
I like Silver! he's sooooo cool!
Your profile pic is awesome
+Patrick Ryan
thanks!
That video was amazing, I wish I had more feedback but really it was perfect, providing a in-depth analysis of the complex character from the game while also touching on his other versions, but the focus was on the most important version.
In Pokemon Masters, he is called Silver, confirming his name
In the Pokemon I choose You movie the antagonist is a character that draws a parallel to Silver. He is not blue, or Gary, but believes that the path to strength is the same as Silver's. You may want to check that out.
Great editing and video overall dude
I've always like rivals like Silver and Gary, characters that want to seriously beat you and that you want to beat in return. A friendly rival doesn't feel like a true rival to me but instead just a friend who oh so happens to be on a Pokemon journey just like you.
Making me wanna play HG now !
+seanie russell Go do it! I played through it for this vid and it's still awesome!
I need to buy heart gold lol
+Mr Buddy Ss was my first game ever, but you explained more than I could of, but I knew Silver was originally in team rocket from a cheat. Thank you for the info I didn't know, now I can show up the pkmn champion in our school :)
Am doing this now and just finished acquiring all the johto badges. On my way to face the elite four!
i cant be the only one who has a fangirl crush on him.... *right?*
you are not the only one-
Me too! 🤝
I wish they'd bring back mean and interesting rivals.
When this guy said silver is rly powerful, he was so right that even Gold agreed with him.
You can hate on Ethans HGSS design all you want but its the same guy from GSC, not a separate character.
That firered leafgreen Adventures scene. GOD DAMMIT THOSE FLASHBACKS WHY MUST YOU MAKE MY HEART BREAK THEYRE SO SAD AND CUTE
The name Silver becomes official with Pokemon Masters.
This video came right on time! I'm thinking of reviving a story that's been collecting dust, basically to play around with the numerous theories and mysteries in the Pokemon universe.
I don't want to use any official characters as the main cast, but... Silver's position is so perfect.
Say what you want Silver had the most character development in a Pokemon game
Man the best character development so far
Wow. This was a really great video. We all appreciate all that you do and love your passion!
Giovanni didn’t even give his son a name. Damn.
Lol😂
This is my favorite rival from the games. I liked how you mentioned Pokemon Chronicles. It made me love Typhlosion even more. I also would've loved to see him in the anime.
Silver is actually referred to as silver on Pokémon masters
Thank you for doing these sorts of videos.
my thought on Silver, hes cute lol
He is cute indeed
I shipped him with Gold
Silver Giovanni still my otp lmao
wowjennawow stop.
+Maeve Doyle he is
Dude i love the comparison of Silver to Paul. Paul was my favourite character in the anime (before N) and Silver is my favourite character from all the games
He is also my favorite game character, along with N
He's like the only rival that has actual development
@Mr Buddy Personally I'm glad that you've brought back the Character Study series and hope that you do more with it. I'd like to see a video on Sabrina's character
Who else watched this "in the future" and it took them a few seconds to realise as to why he didn't mention silver's incarnation in that Pokemon generation episode XD
2021
great video, dude
I really enjoyed you delving into all the versions of the characters and even the differences in game appearances. Very cool.
Silver reminds me of Paul from anime.
Best Tsundere boy ever
I agree with your views on the guy.
I find Silver to be the most interesting rival of the games, and I honestly feel like they should include more rivals like him, and less friendly ones.
I wish more rivals were more like Silver. Nowadays, they’re just happy-go-lucky nitwits.
Silver maybe everyone's favorite rival, but not much for me. Though he's not evil, he's power-hungry and really mean. I'm not a fan of mean rivals because when I imagine in real life, I'd get intimidated and angry for treating their pokemon harshly.
My favorite rival
I highly enjoy this. There are just so many characters!
+Mr buddy will you do a video on some of the female protagonists/rivals?
+Izzy Finley Yeah! I'll definitely try to get more females in these (so far i've only done guys which is my bad :s ). Any suggestions on who you'd like to see?
Mr Buddy personally my favourite character is dawn from the diamond and pearl siries, I didn't start with pokemon on 1st gen, I started on 4th gen😅
+Mr Buddy The mother from Diamond, Pearl and Platinum has more depths then the others. And the Battle Fribtier girls frim HeartGold and SoulSilver are very mysterious, just as the girl with the white clothes who you can team up with when you want to catch Shaymin in gen4
+Izzy Finley i was on on pokemon silver :)
+Mr Buddy I would really like a character study on May from R/S/ORAS
We need more rivals like this. One thing I would change in later games is make it that your rival isnt always ahead of you (Gary) or behind you trying to catch up. Maybe in later games rival battles could end in a win or loss and the plot would still continue from there versus you having to win in order to progress in the plot.
I think you could to an entire character study video on the Silver from Adventures alone
Oh definitely
Silver is my favorite rival.Even though I started in generation 1 I have more I feel more nostalgia for the second generation.I feel like it really bumped pokemon up a notch.Silver being a changing growing character was a nice touch.
