- This song has a special place in our dad's heart. He used to listen to Van Halen - Dreams when he went to air shows. It always gave him goosebumps to hear this song when a jet would scream by overhead.

Van halen is still amazing no matter who the lead singer is. There will never be another guitarist like Eddie Van Halen.
Also, Fighter Jets! What more needs to be said?
:-(
Amen!
There are many great guitarists.
@@markuse3472 but only one Eddie Van Halen!
Edward Van Halen was a fantastic songwriter. 10 straight multi platinum albums and 26 top 10 hits .
He didn't write any vocal melodies.
@@Faltor895 And what? He didn't write some melodies. Still blew away the garbage they call pop and rock today.
@@jameschamplin1742 Agreed
Can I tell you whenever this song is on my car it makes me drive fast for some reason, like really fast 😬
nice 👍🏻 reaction kids 😀 love both Van Halen singers , they both made classic songs
You hit it right on the head,Walker. This song very much stirs up deep emotions about Eddie’s passing. I’ve definitely shed some tears hearing this song over the years and I’m a large, bearded man. I certainly can’t stop listening to it now. Claire, you’re also right on. The song is first and foremost very inspirational and cheery. Anyway,I love both you kids just for the fact that you love this song. On that note,I subscribed!
Goosebumps and chills. Love this song! RIP Eddie❤❤
shes sitting there nodding her head and rocking away, she gets it
WE should all feel honored to have shared this time in history with Eddie. RIP sir
It think Eddie's playing is simply, controlled chaos, he is so good at making complicated music sound simple and also powerful......
Higher and higher, into the heavens, That's where EVH belongs.
My favorite band and guitarist... still can't believe it 😭
I hear ya bro😢
I haven't touched my guitar in almost 3 weeks now. It's just not the same.
@Briansgate I understand how tough it is but Eddie would want you to keep going.
@@rockerdriver You're right, of course. And I will. Eventually.
I'm 16 years old and I've been playing the guitar for 7 years. Eddie Van Halen was my greatest inspiration and hero ever. He died a few days before my birthday. When I heard the news I was absolutely crushed. I'm not one to mourn celebrity deaths, but Eddie Van Halen's death hit me like a brick in the head. The song Dreams also holds a very special place in my heart. The reason that is is because when I was 8 years old, my dad showed me the exact music video you guys reacted to, and I had always wanted to become a Blue Angels pilot since then. My dad is a professional pilot and flies private jets for Amway for the D'evos family. He has always been my greatest role model and hero besides Eddie Van Halen, and it has always been my dream to become a pilot like him, but I want to fly for the Blue Angels. Eddie inspired me musically, but my dad inspired me through many other things. Please keep doing these reactions. The only thing that brings me joy more than music is seeing other people experience music and the amazing things it does. It heals, it motivates, it inspires, and it brings joy to all who listen to it. Please do more Van Halen reactions please! :)
I really enjoyed this reaction. Eddie will definitely be missed.
R.I.P. Edward Van Halen 🎸🎸🎸
VAN HALEN and the BLUE ANGELS....2 words GOOSEBUMPS!!!!
EVHs riff and the Red Rockers vocals are so wicked good on this track!!
Guitar solo is great but he wrote the whole damn thing.. keyboards and all, just like all VH songs.. it’s amazing. Sammy Hagar says he was always like WTF... Eddie writes all these beautiful songs and he just had to come up with lyrics. 5150 great album
5150 is the best VH album!
Not just the lyrics, also the vocal melody.
This song did close out the 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.
First time I ever heard it, haven't forgotten it since then.
Oh my gosh, yes!!! The guitar solo in this song is AMAZING. I've been listening to this song and other Van Halen songs since the beginning of the month
And this is also your first Sammy Hagar song on the channel, and this is a great one to start on. Hope we can maybe get When it's Love or Right Now
Love Walks In or the Best of Both Worlds. Or even better..... Poundcake from Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.
5150 is also a great song!
@@johnirving5949 Yes it is! One if the many I've been listening to recently
Another good tearjerker sort of similar to Dreams who be Can’t Stop Loving You. You should definitely react to that video.

You will never be forgotten Eddie! Never ever- you were just to incredible!
My wife and I both served in the US Navy!
Thank you for your service!!!!
@@3YearsApart1613 our pleasure Thank you for reviewing the music of my youth!
The members of Van Halen grew older and more mature and were interested in expanding their sound and song writing. They did one heck of a job growing up and branching out from just the “rock and roll party songs”. Van Halen evolved!
I think Claire hit the nail on the head. Everything was AMAZING! That pretty much covered it. Another cool reaction from 3 Years Apart!🎧🎧
Yes! Thanks for doing this one. It’s one of my favorites and I’m glad Walker pointed out that it feels different now that Eddie is gone. 🤘🏻
This song gives me chills ,especially the solo towards the end, this is some of Eddie's best guitar playing.....sounds chaotic yet calm at the same time....
If I heard Claire correctly. Happy Birthday Dad 🥳 Good to hear from you guys again as always. I liked your camp story 🙂❤
RIP Eddie
😢
One song I love from this era is Feel so Good...
In Canada 🇨🇦. We have a flying team called The Snow Birds. Dreams is my favourite VH song.
Holy crap it's the good video for this song too. I used to watch this video all the time when I was a kid. The Blue Angels are next level.
He played keyboard as well, and wrote the musical composition. He wasn't just a guitar player.
A legend gone too soon💔😥
Favorite song I get chills everyone I hear it
Love this song rip EVH
Happy birthday, Dad 🎂 Sincerely from Poland 🇵🇱
Eddie Van Halen also played the keyboards in this! That man was a beast!
Something Roth would never let him do.
@@enjaesusanspracklinostberg7939 Eddie played keyboard on Jump and couple songs on 1984
Sure, like And the cradle will rock intro, Dancing in the streets doesn't count like keyboard songs from Dave's VH era before jump. Intruder was played by Roth himself.
Yes, welcome to the Sammy side! The band really hit its stride under Sammy in their melody, sound, vocals, and the way they all synced together.
About Sammy’s and David’s voices, they have different ranges. Sammy sings in medium to high range, he is a tenor, while David sings in the medium to low, as a baritone. That’s why they sound different
Walker's really in serious mode on this one. I like that. This song always had that effect on me too. The Blue Angels combined with the music is so perfect. RIP EVH
Sammy was an accomplished Solo act before he went to Van Halen. His voice really meshes well with their music and even Sammy said that writing with Eddie came to him very easy. Sammy has a very good range vocally and could do things with harmony that David Lee Roth couldn't. David embarked on his own Solo career after Van Halen and was quite successful but nothing compared to what Van Halen have and continued to have when Sammy Hagar joined the band. You should do a great Sammy song "I can't drive 55!" reaction!
And he was in a band called Montrose before he went solo. But he was only on 2 albums before embarking on his solo career
Ever hear bump n grind its daves and was used in 87 hit movie less than zero.ever here just like paradise it almost was used for the hit show 90120. Ever hear drop in the bucket with jason becker who got alcs and that ruined a band that pretty much sounded just like the original vh. So dave sustained his career well. Listen to black sand another killer dave solo song I believe with john 5 on guitar on that album so did you follow dlr like vh coz ya missed those elite level songs and many many others
@@bowlingball99lb45 "Eat 'Em and Smile" was a pretty good album, to be completely honest
@M 40 "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy", "Heavy Metal", "Three Lock Box", "There's Only One Way To Rock", "I Can't Drive 55" (your reference I'm sure). Yeah, he was a "one-hit wonder" 😂
@M 40 OK, I'm done. You obviously have some hatred for SAMMY Hagar, so I'll just leave you to hate on him by yourself. Have fun!
Born in 1973, my father worked for John T. “Jack” Venaleck at Associated Enterprises who had the second largest private aerospace collection in the world. At 8 years old, I remember seeing a line for each of his various acquisitions and waiting in line to ride in a helicopter. The pilot took off with me sitting next to him and then turned to me and said, "Which direction would you like to go" while hovering 100 feet in the air from where he took off. I said, "Backwards" and so the pilot took the helicopter backwards to my complete delight.
Later, with my Mechanical Engineering degree from The University of Akron, I got a job at Argo-Tech and worked on components for the F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
Thank you, father, for saying this song has a special place in your heart. I still say NO exposure to Van Halen is complete without hearing the first two albums completely through; however, if we are going to talk of Sammy Hagar then this song is the one that I love.
ua-cam.com/video/Bi2zeDfuRNA/v-deo.html
Great song, great solo.
In the UK we have the Red Arrows display team, very much the same as the Blue Angels. Every year (except this one) they display over the local beach about 1 mile from where we live and, as we live up a hill, we can watch the whole thing from the garden. Occasionally one of the planes will fly right over the house. My dad was in the air training corps when he was a kid and I used to take him to air shows, so when he died in 2017 I got his name put on the tail of one of Red Arrows planes so that friends and family could think about him when ever they saw them flying. I love VH and fast jets so I think I'd like your Gramps.
Love this song and this video! Your reaction is great! They actually made two different videos for the song; this was the second one, and it's definitely the better of the two. The Blue Angels just go with this song so well. Higher and higher!!
The "Van Hagar" era gets a bad rap, for allegedly "softening" the band's edge, but there are many great songs from that era, like this one. Just because the band began playing around with a keyboard circa "1984" doesn't mean they still couldn't rock out. Oh yeah, and Claire, stop ruining Walker's vibe.
Ha..lol
Its funny they got poked at about "softening". For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge is the best Hagar era album to me. There is almost nothing soft about that album. Maybe Right Now and 316.
IMO, the guitar parts are harder to play in the Hagar era. It's too bad the Hagar era gets such a bad rap when Eddie wanted to play keyboards when Dave was still in the band. People have their preferences, but the Hagar era was another dimension of Eddie.
I think Van Hagar’s era brought out more of an experimental phase for the band. I actually LOVED this era of the band.
Eddie even said he couldn't write what he wanted because David couldn't doing worth a damn
Eddie was not only a great guitarist, he also wrote and played all the keyboard melodies that interlock so perfectly together with the vox and bass in that amazing bridge (the “dry your eyes” part) This was a result of his classical piano training and that’s why these so songs are on such a different level of composition
My mom was in the Air Force and when she was still with us, she would often take me and my husband to watch air shows at Tustin out here in So Cal.
So much fun!
Nice song!
RIP mom and RIP EVH ❤
This kid is feeling it lol
I know that vibe 100%
He really brings it home on that last solo where he restates the melody... Ugh, brilliant!
I was an Aerospace Explorer Scout from Jr. High through HS. We used to work air shows doing everything from selling ice cream to ramp security. At the (then annual) Moffett N.A.S. Air Show here in Mt. View, Ca. I was working the ramp in front of the VIP stand. The Blue Angels were still flying the A-4 Skyhawk, like the ones in the video and I was standing next to one of the Navy crew chiefs who would guide the jets to their parking spots in a well choreographed manner. He taught me the hand signals and stood behind me as I guided Angel #4 to a stop after their demo. I know the pilot couldn't see me because when it stopped, the nose was right over my head. The nose landing gear was taller than I was, and I could see right into the intakes at the giant blender. It was exhilarating, AND LOUD, and I fell in love with an airplane. This is my favorite rock video of all time, and I also like Sammy Hagar better.
You kids are cool. I really like hearing the reactions of both of you young people to sing that came out decades before you were even born. I just goes to show that great music is timeless will be listened too by many generations of people. Keep up the fun videos kids.
A-4 Skyhawks, tiny but like a TIGER!! Turns out, that was the last year they used those, 86'. And now the Blues are switching to the F/A-18 Super Hornets next year. All aircraft they've used listed here -
1. F6F Hellcat 1946
2. F8F Bearcat 1946-1949
3. F9F-5 Panther 1950-1955
4. F9F-8 Cougar 1955-1957
5. F-11 Tiger 1957-1968
6. F-4 Phantom II 1969-1974
7. A-4 Skyhawk (seen here) 1974-1986
8. F/A-18 Hornet 1986-2021
9. F/A-18 Super Hornet 2021- present
David Lee Roth couldn’t sing anywhere close to note E5 like Sammy here. Sammy kicks his butt in shear vocal ability. I love both singers.
DLR struggled to hit most the notes in his own VH songs live. But part of that'd be down to his great stage antics. He may not have bee a great singer, but he was a great showman.
Sammy is the better singer. David is the better Showman
First 5 albums still tougherlol
I've said that for years dave is a very good showman but cant sing, sammy is a very good singer but a rather lackluster showman
Sammy said it best. He could sing Dave’s songs but Dave could never sing his. Sammys voice is still great today.
Greetings Claire and Walker and Dad Great to see You back.Totally Love Eddie's keyboard and guitar in this.Sammy gives You that emotional delivery from the 1st note.excellent reaction Keep on Rocking

I got to see the Blue Angels in person back in the 80's. It's truly a once in a lifetime experience.
I haven't seen that video in years!
I have the same memories!! Going to see the Blue Angels are some of the best times I've ever had! I sobbed like a baby when I found out he passed. RIP to the greatest guitar player of MY time.
One of his best solos and one of my favorites!
Thanks for sharing this, you two. I hard this first on the radio in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. 31 years later, I'm still playing guitar and still can't play this good enough for my own taste. Keep having good taste in music, y'all!!
Everytime I listen Van Halen is just like the first time. This band will always surprise me. ❤
I got my first speeding ticket listening to this song.
Ah.. memories
He's right, that is the most emotional part of the song. This song always made me feel exhilarated back in the day...my teenage years.
Definitely one of my favorites with Sammy. As a teen going to Van Halen concerts Dave was a much better frontman but Sammy was a better singer. Even still, Van Halen with Diamond Dave is still my favorite.
Also RIP to Tony Lewis of the outfield!
I discovered this song and fell in love with this song and Van Halen because this song is the ending song of the Power Rangers movie in the 90s! Fireworks, bad guys lose, Dreams blasting in the background. You can’t not get chills from that!
Man Walker I agree with you there man about the Sammy Hagar voice vs. David Lee Roth’s. I enjoy them both but my favorite Van Halen album is 5150 so I honestly love Sammys voice better.
I played this song on Guitar Hero all the time. Feeling like Eddie Van Halen playing this song felt incredible.
I was lucky enough to see them and do this song live, but it will always remind me of the first Power Rangers movie because my son had to watch it a million and one times and i had to wait until the end of the movie to hear it😂😂Absolutely love this song💕💕
When I was a kid I wanted to be a jet pilot like the these blue angels but I was discouraged because of my bad vision so don’t get discouraged from your dreams!
Yuuuupi Van Halen
My two favorite things in the whole world combined. Gotta love this song and video.
Death - Flesh and The Power It Holds.
I got super emotional during this. This song says it all about life and what we as humans strive for. Eddie Van Halen tapped into something deep here when he wrote this one. Thank you again Claire and Walker. Keep these amazing videos coming. Here is a clip of something I am working on to pay tribute to EVH. facebook.com/carlos.guzman.777701/videos/10224281914624595
Van Halen still as one of the best rock and roll bands in the world, to have Eddie being gone from the world is the toughest thing we have ever lost, the music will live on, & even what Eddie quoted that the Van Halen legacy will live on way before he’s gone, his legacy will continue to be a cherished moment to all of us that love the music that he has brought to us. RIP Edward Van Halen! Thank you guys for this video keep bringing in more rock and roll reaction vids.
Hey Dad... my father and I also had a connection through military aviation. He had been training as a B-25 (or the Marine designation, PBJ) tail gunner during WW2, but his squadron was disbanded and blended into the infantry before they shipped overseas. He was in Honolulu when the Japanese surrendered (thankfully).
He took me to my first Blue Angels demonstration in 1971 (maybe '72?). At that time they were flying F-4 Phantoms. Can you imagine the close formation flying in those monsters? :-D
I think I saw them once with the A-4's, but most recently with the F-18. Always a thrill to see.
This is an amazing classic Van Halen song Dreams is definitely one of my favourites there will never be another Eddie van halen in my opinion he is the great guitarists of all time Claire & Walker you gave an amazing reaction keep up the great work !!!!!!!!!
Rest in peace Edward Van Halen !
MY FAVOURITE SONG!
You guys should react to the Outfield since Tony Lewis died yesterday, R.I.P
Dang. I didn't know anyone's name in the band, but that sucks.
R.I.P.
We just did the outfield, but got blocked :(
Damn, this is not a good year. He had a great voice (even recently) and they did some great songs. I'd love to see a reaction to Say It Isn't So or Young Love, if it wouldn't get blocked.
@@3YearsApart1613 There was another UA-camr that was remarking on Phil Collin's "In the Air Tonight" coming back to #2 on the charts recently, because of reaction videos. As he said, how does a 40 year old song do that? Partially because of overactive lawyers and record companies NOT stomping on all plays of that song.
This could be a "TOP GUN" song.
Your dad has great taste in music. Dreams might even be my favorite VH song and that is saying something!
I too love both Sammy and DLR. I actually think DLR has the more rugged voice and Sammy has the broader vocal range. DLR brings more attitude and Sammy brings more vocal range and heart. Both have brought me a lot of joy. Glad you are having so much fun exploring great music.
Van Halen with Sammy Hagar has a lot of great songs outside of the singles. (Their singles with Sammy are good too) I wish more people would be able to enjoy both Dave and Sammy's tenures with VH, because they both have their own strong qualities.
I agree
I've got to say, I even liked a lot of their songs with Gary Cherone. Not all, but some of them are good enough that other bands wished it was theirs.
@@omicron2018 If only the production on the _Van Halen III_ album was a lot better.

Yeah but Sammy wasn't a dick. David Lee Roth was.
This song for me is a moment in time. I was 16 years old driving out of the high school parking lot past my friends after my girlfriend and decided to skip the rest of the day and go have some fun. It was a good moment that summed up what it means to be young. A moment I cherish to this day.
Awesome review, for perhaps my favorite song off of that album! Beware: In the days on my youth, I can remember getting at least two speeding tickets, while listening to this song in my car. For some reason, it just made me want to drive...FASTER! Stay awesome! :)

Beautiful epic song 🔥 don't forget Eddie didn't just do 🎸 he did piano 🎹 pretty sure put bunch input on this song arrangements etc
Growing up listening to Sammy led Van Halen always inspired me. Especially in college, never got less than a B on any paper I wrote. My 1st and only love of a band. Even got "and in the end on dreams we will depend cause that's what love is made of tattooed.
I was that kids age listening to this for real!!!!
Awesome!!!!!
When I was a kid, my Grandpa used to take me and my brother to air shows, in Fort Worth. I enjoyed those times. I didn't really know about this being the video for "Dreams", until recently.
It would be cool if y'all would check out "On Fire", which has great guitar work, but is also subtle in a lot of places, giving the drums and bass room to shine.
Y'all might use their cover of "Happy Trails as an outro. Maybe give a mini-reaction to it, on the next video, before the main reaction, unless y'all have already heard it.
Yea I loved the fact that the music video for this song was a edited blue angels vid I made a recreation of this video recently and uploaded it on Instagram

Oh, man. What a great reaction. Eddie was my hero growing up and I still love every note of his that I hear.
Sammy had, and still has, a great voice even though he was different to Dave.
Both Dave and Sammy complimented Eddie's style in their own way.
And it's also important to remember Alex and Michael. It was always a team effort.
Thanks for the reaction, and thanks to your dad for introducing you to this stuff.
Keep listening to old stuff, but also listen to new stuff.
But you know that anyway...
If you haven't already heard it, check out Die Hard The Hunter by Def Leppard.
Amazing video, amazing song that came out a couple months before my graduation from high school AND the movie Top Gun. I was already enlisted in the Marine Corps, just waiting to graduate. I was going into the "Air Wing" after finishing recruit training and schools. This was always the lead song on all of my workout mixed tapes.
I too, grew up in and around the military, dad was Air Force though. We always hit a minimum of one airshow every summer, usually two or three.
I love both Hagar and Roth, I cannot imagine either one of the two singers having recorded each others songs from their time accompanying Eddie.
A Blue Angel's performance is the only possible visual for this song. Deep inside, we all want to fly at some point in our life. This song is so beautiful, so inspiring. An excellent pick from the 80's. I would rate this in the top five of 80's videos, along with Thriller, Love is a Battlefield, Money for Nothing and If I'd Been the One.
Amazing song in every way!! period!!
Great song, one of my favorites from Van Halen. While I missed seeing the Blue Angels, I did get to see the Thunderbirds when I was a kid at Incirlick Air Base in Turkey when we lived there in 1964 or 65.
