Feral hogs, have been tearing up farmland all across the country. My husband hunted them in Ohio and Kentucky, with a model 70 in 22-250. Starting in the 1950's in to the 1990's. He loves to watch this.
There is an estimated 4-5 million wild hogs in the U.S. Not my numbers, it's from the USDA or bureau of land management or what gov't agency is responsible for that stuff. Anyway, while they might reduce the hog population in their immediate area, it's going to take a lot more than 2 or 3 guys shooting 4 -5 dozen hogs a night to have a serious reduction in the hog problem nationwide. One sow can have 2 or more litters every year. Let that sink in. Now multiply that by a couple million hogs and you see the enormity of the problem. But it's sure fun watching them try.
As others also asked, what caliber are you shooting and what magnification are you using on the scope? For hogs, wouldnt you use a 308 or 6.5 Creedmore?
@@twolak1972 .223 is too light a round to consistently kill a large hog and can result in a hit that is not fatal for hours, which is inhumane. I use .30-06 exclusively.
Greeting from Finland! Gotta say that the amount total pansies who don't realize how dangerous the destructive these hogs are, is almost shocking. These people need to realize that these aren't cuddly little piglets, but an animal that can be described as "vicious" without the shadow of a doubt. These hogs really don't give a fuck, they will kill anything that smells like a good snack. But not only are they really aggressive, they also cause untold damage to both flora and crops, ironically destroying untold amounts of precious soybean plants. And a female hog can at best breed 24 piglets per year. Being a highly aggressive and intelligent, exponentially breeding omnivore; the truth is that feral hog extermination efforts in the America's will have to be taken further in the future. Since the feral hog is already causing so much damage and were it left to it's own devices it would eradicate itself after destroying the local flora and fauna and over-breeding.
Some of those hogs were huge, what type cartridge were you using? Did you use suppressors to help prevent spooking the herd? Great shooting by the way.
.308 is a pretty good round as it's cost effective. 6.5 Creedmoor and others work really well but more expensive. A good shot with a .223 will also do the trick.

They were in the county next to mine but never saw them when there wasn't a no hunt law . There were others in other parts of the state . Texas has 2.6 million of them. They can have babies three times a year . What ever amount these guys killed ,probably triple that were born at the same time

Ultimate Night Vision : Dear Sir, Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. Paul Erhard an avid (a.o.) Wild-boar hunter in Germany. We hunt Wild-boar from “high-stands” at night. We have an overlarge Wild-boar population, which is also a serious problem in Germany. But, if I understand correctly, our Wild-boar problem is nothing compared to the feral-hog “infestation” in Texas. We shoot one, maybe two Wild-boar during one night; the tusks of the males (“Keilers”) which can grow a foot long (!) are highly priced trophies. But it seems (please forgive my ignorance if I am wrong) you hunters in Texas can use some help in eradicating your feral-hogs. If so, I like to offer my assistance! Semiautomatic rifles are forbidden here in Germany, but I can cycle my Sauer 202, Take-Down, rifle with 10 shot magazine so fast, I have been mistaken multiple times for using a semiautomatic. I also use the Pulsar thermal imaging scope. I can use multiple calibers (my rifles all being Take-Downs), but I mostly use the powerful and trusted 9.3 x 62 Mauser cartridge, as well as the probably more popular in the US, 300 Winchester Magnum round. Please let me know if I can assist in the enormous culling task you face in Texas. Obviously I can fly over myself, but some board and food would be appreciated. I'd much rather shoot skeet, but what people don't understand is that these things are not supposed to be here in the first place. They have to be eliminated. I just hope the hunters are doing it properly, If they scatter, it makes it tougher to get all of them. They are also highly intelligent animals who will begin feeding at night, to avoid people. They not only tear up farmers crops, but they kill farm animals. They eat anything that they can overpower. Something I didn't know, even domestic pigs have tasks that are removed when they are piglets, and these hybrids are huge. They carry a shit load of bacteria and disease. Unless we want another COVID-19 spreading throughout the country that originates here, they do have to figure out how to get rid of these. I'm liberal but I'm not stupid.
It only takes once and then your hooked. Tried it when I lived in Texas , loved it , still go to Texas twice a year from North Carolina to hunt these pigs !!!

@@8macvar there is a lot of people that like animals much more than people. I'm one of them.
That hog you put down at 10:50, from what I could make a 'guesstimate', would have tipped the scales at 400+ lbs. what do you think it was?
*6:15** hard of hearing Hog, probably an elderly hog, already one foot in the grave, you did it a favor.*

Feral hogs, have been tearing up farmland all across the country. My husband hunted them in Ohio and Kentucky, with a model 70 in 22-250. Starting in the 1950's in to the 1990's. He loves to watch this.
They are truly destructive, invasive creatures. Good job in reducing their numbers.
The whole "Whatcha got there bud?" and excuuuuse me had me in tears.
i notice they shoot from relatively close range... isn't it quite dangerous
You got it all wrong, it's not "what you got there bud" it's "what you got there, Bud ? " it's a beer question 😂👍

As others also asked, what caliber are you shooting and what magnification are you using on the scope? For hogs, wouldnt you use a 308 or 6.5 Creedmore?
.308 would slay them harder than 5.56 bleedmore etc. but isn't cost effective
6.8 SPC is very popular for hogs as is 6.5 Creedmore
FREAKING 223 OR BETTER A 22/250 IN AR15 PLATFORM. 6×18 POWER NIGHT SCOPE. OH YEAH BABY, DEAD HOGS EVERYWHERE.
I use a .30-06 with 180 gr hollow points

Suomi perkele!
You're right in all you posted, my friend. Greetings from Flint, Michigan.
Some of those hogs were huge, what type cartridge were you using? Did you use suppressors to help prevent spooking the herd? Great shooting by the way.
I'd like to know the caliber size as well. Are larger calibers not cost effective? And do you reload at all? Nice shootin by the way.
.308 is a pretty good round as it's cost effective. 6.5 Creedmoor and others work really well but more expensive. A good shot with a .223 will also do the trick.
@@neilreid2298 damn near 35 for a box of 20 is not cost effective my friend. I'm still using it because I try not to waste an animal and not clean it. I'm trying to make an ak15 those rounds are dirt cheap in bulk rn
A lot of hog guys go with 6.5 Grendel
@@neilreid2298 77 grain 5.56 will end them very quickly and painlessly
Amazing how quickly the entire herd reacts to the slightest sound and scatters in all directions.
It's nice to see you do follow up shots when it looks like they are not totally down
The follow up shot at 4:08 was sweet
Atleast make them suffer for as short as possible
This hunter kills a lot of boars. And then what? How are killed animals used? Can they be eaten or not? I think
@@ЗахарБеркут-р7и you can eat them.. not sure if he does.. some people donate them to food bank type places to feed the needy.. pretty sure hes getting paid to eradicate them
Yeah they are tough, usually need more than one
Kudos to you for firing the additional shots needed to polish off the wounded hogs. I enjoy these videos for a number of reasons but I have a hard time when the shooter is to cheap to put the animal out of it's misery. Well done example of different optics too. Good job.
I like how you shoot moving targets not like just some people waiting for hours to shoot single one then single one saving ammo. Good job
Given the scarcity of ammo, I don't have a problem with it. Of course most of these guys probably handload their own ammo anyway.
This is incredibly fascinating. As someone more familiar with the city I wasn't even aware feral hogs existed in the U.S. After seeing your videos I've read how they're wreaking havoc in TX, CA, and are even here in PA. Great content.
Same here! I had no idea. Very satisfying...especially seeing the chunks of flesh flying after they've been hit.
What a nice, level-headed comment. Refreshing.
My uncle lived in Texas and the hogs were a serious problem
some parts of I-40 thru tx and NM they have to shut it down because of so many crossing the interstate.
We had some here in NY but they eliminated them. It was against the law to kill them because it scatters them . The state trapped them out . They were in the county next to mine but never saw them when there wasn't a no hunt law . There were others in other parts of the state . Texas has 2.6 million of them. They can have babies three times a year . What ever amount these guys killed ,probably triple that were born at the same time
After the culling how are the culled hogs cleaned up/extricated? Are they allowed to decay in field? Just curious.
Usually they are extracted and donated to charities to help feed people. There are several in Texas and many other southern states.
@@topgunfanatic7650 how do they taste? Compared to the usual pork from the supermarket

So, should you be interested in my (free) help, please let me know!

RE:6:37, That hog is too busy right now to be answering you, lol.
All due respects; and that's the whole point of being a liberal, to be able to see both sides of the story.

Just two questions: What kind of rifle are you using for hunting the hogs. What do you do with the hoga killed? Are they for human comsuption?
I do enjoy seeing you handle the issue with a very invasive species
Glad to see how humanely these ranchers were getting rid of these very dangerous invasive non-native species. I guess maybe the Javelinas are native, but we wiped out their predators, and they pose a significant danger to people, livestock, and the natural ecosystem
I’ve reset my cloak of invisibility to automatically activate on the words “Whacha got there bud?” So far, it’s working

Good on you for doing a second shot if the first wasn't a kill shot. Most hired hog hunters just let em suffer during the bleed out, of a less than perfect instant kill shot, to save on ammo costs and higher profits.
yes, good on him. Kill a living being, just dont let it suffer. very good. good guy indeed
