Ahh, now there’s a game I obsessed over for a long time as a kid. I was a 1st generation 32x owner and fascinated with differences in Japanese games. Still have the 32x, and never did enjoy actually playing this. It’s quite a spectacle with its scaling graphics and destructible fighters.
@@LeftyPem I'm glad some folks remember it! Sometimes it feels like lonely archeology sifting through these old games. I'm glad this show is reaching the folks it's meant for.

Somewhat amusingly, I had the EU version of this as a teen and found that, for some reason, changing the game to Cyber Brawl disabled the juggle limiter. This didn't make Jug's spin any less dominant but it opened up a TONNE of infinites that were super easy to set up. Naruto in particular could infinite with his heavy armor command grab in the corner, which you could land as the opponent came down from his air tatsu.

I heard about this game some years ago. A pity I can't seem to find any playthroughs of Naja.

Personally, I always assumed that tournaments in fighting games had off-screen fights featuring roster members beating lesser opposition... which goes back to two funny points.
1) The US Sports Team somehow still misses the KoF tournament every time.
2) Tekken 6 somehow had actual brackets... according to Paul's ending.
@@Mateus_Carvalho There's so much story potential in a tournament, too. Animes use it all the time, you'd think it would've leaked into fighting games already!

Lol I have the 32x and cosmic carnage in the other room. Played it when it was new, but not a game I feel the need to revisit.
I think that's a valid estimation.
Just like you say if this game had more developing time it could have been a good fighter as the game is now it seems like it’s a 90% game 👍 great video

So many fighters flew under the radar during this era. I guess it's on the par course, like so many good battle royale games aren't being played because they're not Fortnite.
@@saynotop2w Game density is on an untold level these days. Back in the day you had the consoles you had, so you could either access those games on those consoles or you couldn't. Nowadays it's rare for a non-indie not to be available on all platforms. Even some first party titles are getting cross availability. So the game with the notoriety, the "safe" and popular game gets the attention while some real gems fall by the wayside.
I appreciate keeping things simple but I feel this could have used a final boss, like just a ninth survivor also pining for that one pod and is such a bastard he's just trying to hijack it behind everyone's back.
@@TeryJones The whole game is definitely a little undercooked.
I still disagree about Weaponlord on everything except how painfully difficult it is, but this game was a sort of hidden gem for me. Nothing great, but you could do much worse for a fighter! The fatalities are done by landing the final hit of the second or third round with one of your characters special moves. Rather or not the enemy is in the air, or the final hit was a high or low attack, changes the one of 3-4 kill animations you get. Similar to how brutalities are done in the newer Mortal Kombat games.
@@kendalflongbeard2935 So I make these videos pretty far in advance to make sure emergencies won't throw off my schedule. The only line I'm not sure I support today is the Weaponlord one. But I think that's more indicitave of this game being pretty fun than it is an indictment of Weaponlord. I SHOULD spend more time with the Genesis version tho.
