no he didn't a flare doesn't need to be a dramatic 7 degrees for your spotting sometimes 3 degrees will do and that's recommended thhis was a nice 150-250ft/min landing GOOD landing

Sometimes a short flare, as you say, is enough, but sometimes the higher angle is needed to properly arrest the descent and create the smooth landing. In this case, the landing was clearly excessively firm, and more flare was needed. Even if you want to be a smartass and claim that this was a fine flare, and some other circumstance led to the firm landing, the joke is still valid, and you have no right to rain on the party

@@philipbrailey 🤷🏼♂️ no harder than any other cheap couldn’t care less pilots…you can see the power on the engines and the fact that it was a positive landing without bounce, so a well controlled landing by an experienced pilot 👨✈️

The aircraft operations manual calls for a firm touchdown. Nothing wrong with that, it didn't even bounce.

At the old Edmonton YXD airport, the runways were 5000 feet so the 737 and the 727 really had to get on the ground fast and then do the reverse, I have flown in there many times on Pacific Western planes and I tell ny seat mate to get ready for impact! 😁

Also, there's no tell-tale "hump" on the aft fuselage, which is where the crew parachutes are stored.

Back over a decade ago I use to work at a manufacturing company machining Landing gear in Cleveland OH,. Formerly Cleveland Pneumatic then purchased by Goodrich Landing gear now in SC.
Guys would say, it's no big thing, for they only use it twice each flight 😮
