I've been driving my E92 330i N52 272hp manual for 9 years. I love it, best car I've ever had. Super reliable. Tons of fun, not crazy fast but good fun fast (5.9s 0-62).
Keeping my E91 forever. Im on 295,000 miles. Totally reliable for 11 years. Fantastic steering and chassis. Straight 6 turbo is very smooth and torquey. I recommend Quaife LSD, transforms the car, loads of traction and braking stability.
That’s awesome! I’ve seen multiple e90 cars with over 200k and it just goes to show the build quality of the cars. An LSD would definitely make them a perfect car as that’s the only weak point in my opinion.
Drove both , really didn't like the f30's electronic steering and softer ride. Prefer the hydraulic steering of the e90 and firmer sportier suspension and i didn't even test a version with m-sport suspension. Inside they feel very similar, yes the infotainment is updated and also some models have led headlights but as far as that you can't go wrong with any. They still both look great I might add
E90 is my favorite 3 series. Combines modern convenience and size, while maintaining what made BMW the funnest car I could afford and drive. The only way I'm selling it is if I can get the M version. Thanks for the video. Subscribed.
325i / 328i E90 with just the naturally aspirated N52 is all you need. Even better if it's a base model without power seats & the nav system. Smooth like butter, reliable and all the good mechanical feels & feedback.
Get a better mic (shotgun mic) with a windscreen for your long range clips (not for POV unless used backwards facing). It will raise your video quality with about 100000%. P.S. the good RODE ones will set you back about $80.
I was very lucky a Dealer agreed to give me an F31 for 5 hours while my E91 gearbox was serviced. So i could see all the changes. I came back and said why spoil the chassis and steering ? Sorry no way i just cant pay so much money for car thats not good to drive, I'll wait for the G21 to come out next year..... The G21 was even worse than the F31, a huge leap backwards in driving experience and feedback. Plus too much technology. I would like to drive the car myself, no interference from a computer steering the car by itself changing the line going into a corner. So now what do I do ? Im looking for a low mileage 2nd E90 or 91 as a daily driver. Either a 330d or 335i 6spd manual.
Agreed, they’re getting far far away from the ultimate driving machine. Nowadays they are just catering to the clout chaser community and the our driving joy is lost unfortunately
Great comparison video of the two chassis models. ‘Have an 2011 328i Sport version as my daily driver, and an OEM+ modded 2018 340i with MPPSK and Track Pkg for my weekend ride. I added a Weichert Strut Tower Brace to the F30, and definitely made the steering more firm, E90-like, IMHO.
@@BimmerMafia okay, I will look into it. I can't find any 328is that are E90. They're all either F30s or made before 2000. Will be able to find an N52/54 engine on a 320i? Anything above 2.0 will be costly for me
I have a 2018 f30 340i M sport and a 2007 e92 335i M sport. The f30 one of the best daily drivers because it can be really fun if you push it and its a really comfortable ride. The e92 is the best weekend/summer car. Driving the 335i is such a blast and I get way more looks in the coupe. I keep my 340i stock and my 335i is my project car it’s got full bolt ons and the only thing it’s missing is some upgraded turbos.
For someone on a budget, does the E90 tick all the boxes? Is it worth adding more for an F30 because it's a better daily driver? (I know not to go for an E90 with N43 engine because it's bad too)
Thank you! I believe e90s were only made till 2011 and after 2006 the models were 328i and 335i. (Atleast for the US models). The f30 328i is definitely faster and better on gas but early N20 engines have reliability issues specially the timing chain. The N52 is a lot more reliable and I love the straight six sound it makes. I’d personally go for the E90 328i or 330i.

E90 idrive 2 on lci update is way better than F30. The map has lots of information and detail right out 500yds to 5 mile range. F30 info is gone after 200 yds.
I have a weird question I bought recently e90 330i but I still have back pain when i drive long distance and if I make the seat more to back I get neck pain instead of back pain I know it's weird question but I hope someone gives me a solution while I had golf , Citroën they were more comfortable seats (my e90 seats are leather and hard) maybe best of this ???
I bought recently e90 330i and yes it's little hard suspensions and more stable even in high speeds its not rolling or something and u still feel the muscle of inside without turbo and yes all what u said is true if u van make video of what are the problems and maintenance we can expect from the e90s thanks
Ha, good one, got an E91 n52 330i got all the bells and whistles, radar, auto dip headlights, xenons, led angel lights, ambient plus door handle lights etc. Was thinking about upping to f30 but maybe not unless it's a B48 engine but it still sounds like diesel? So keep the e91 then!
E91s are pretty sweet! I wish I could get my hands on one. They’re pretty rare in the US. If you can get an F30 with the N55 or B58 the upgrade is worth it, if not, the N52 is a solid powertrain and super reliable too!
From what I’ve heard early E90s had the ZF6HP along with the euro models, later E90s got the GM unit but apparently later on LCI cars got the ZF again since the partnership fell apart.
That is a true statement, however, there are some things that are better on the e90 compared to f30 to consider. Base to base I’d take a 328i e90 with decent miles over a 320i or even a early 328i f30.
What's the best E90 engine to go for? I'm on a budget of £2-4k and want to use it mainly for city driving. N43 is bad from what people have said. Is N52 or N54 the best engine to go for?
So we don’t get the N43 in the US, from my experience the N52 is one of the most reliable engines that bmw ever made, great balance of daily driving and fun. I wouldn’t suggest daily driving the N54 specially if your in a budget as repairs are needed often and they can get expensive.
@@cloudsurfing3900 No there wasn't but I've heard that the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines from this era have similar fuel economy so it's better to go for the 6 cylinder... Your budget is tight so I'd advise that you look for a more reliable brand unless it's a weekender...
Amasing, i feel like i tried both cars myself. Could you do 5 series e60 vs F10? Use e90 as a driving reference. Or at least throw a comment back on this. Thanks buddy
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it. I used have a manual e60 530i with sport package and I’ve driven a couple of f10s, wish I could do a video but don’t have access to the cars anymore so I’ll write what I think of them for you
The e60 much like the e90 feels more analog and old school but the e60 had a few more modules and computers that caused a few electrical problems in those cars, both the 5 series chassis drive bigger and feel like larger sedans compared to the 3 series but the F10 feels even bigger and specially without the sport suspension it has a lot of body roll, with that being said both cars are super comfortable and have better seats and ergonomics which makes them a lot better in long drives
My particular e60 was equipped with the active steering feature and had active sway bars which made the 5 series feel a lot more planted and corner nice and flat, it also tightened the steering ratio at low speeds. This system while being unreliable, made a big difference in my 5 series driving experience. The F10 unfortunately suffers from the same dead electronic power steering. Both are solid cars but I would go with a n52 528i or 530i mine was a m54. Or a n55 535i. Try to avoid V8s of both gens and if you really want one be ready to repair the valve seals. Let me know If I can help you with anything else! Cheers

E90 more nystolgic. After that bmw had a cheaper interior and looks, it started looking average. I miss the E46 and E39 era

Absolutely, the E chassis bmws are built different
Thanks ! What do you think about a F30 on sport suspensions and low coilovers ? My e90 was way too rigid and hard with this setup
