You got this .....dave compositions always use that grinding organ riff....horns....always the dave playing backwards grooves.....really supple playing here....no wasted effort because playing dave you cant.....excellent job!!!!
Sooo good! I'd like to be able to hear your great drumming more in the mix - I think your playing would have more impact if it was more prominent on the sound stage. But still, this was awesome :)
Jimbo, thank you and I agree. I am learning about recording and mixing and I am working on getting my drums to be more 'forward' in the mix. I think double micing the snare will help.
I’ve seen a few people double micing the snare on the batter side and wondered what that was all about ? (not necessarily on the resonant side) I’m new to recording drums too. I think the drums need to be a little louder in the mix as others have suggested. Love your groove and feel and voicing Maria. Thankyou. 😊
@@MariaWulfMusic Nice. I'm still learning too. All of my setup is line in (bass guitar, synths, fx and drum machines - plus I just bought an e-drum kit), ie no mics, and that's hard enough to mix, without the whole kettle of fish that is micing everything! So, I think you're doing a great job. UA-cams recommended me your How To Develop Finger Control video, and I'm so glad that it did! I love your teaching style and think your videos look very professional (which I presume you make yourself), so thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. It would be great to get some lessons from you, if I get that far :)
Maria, your mix is fine. Your hand technique is obvious on this video. It's so obvious that it should be the focus, not the mix. On the side of the mix though; the cymbals are perfect. Perhaps just bringing up the toms and kick, a tiny bit, i mean tiny, would marry the mix better. I hear the drums. All of them. Im not jabbing at your technique, but maybe a little bit more force would do. Maybe your mix is great with that added force? Idk but you do well.
Wow! Very nice. You played very well, but I would like to point out that I love you choices of ride cymbals. They really complement each other. I'm personally fascinated with the different sonic colors of rides, and there are so many unique choices to set the tone of the section being played. I'm a rock drummer, and I tend to gravitate toward the Alex Van Halen wall of wash or the Stewart Copeland ping (both happen to be Paiste players), but I've really started admiring the dryer sounds. I have a newly acquired 20 inch Dream Dark Matter Moon ride, and I love it! Anyway, great ride choices. Great playing. You've inspired me to go practice and start thinking about putting up some more drum covers myself. Thank you!
Thanks so much. I'm a cymbal lover myself and try different set ups for different gigs depending on the style, the acoustics of the room, and what instruments I'm playing with. I'm also learning that all of those factors can go out the window when recording and you have to be aware of how each cymbal records too. I have ride cymbals I absolutely love live but don't record well at all.
Awesome! I love it! Watching you play is really cool, thank you for sharing this with us! Edit:What cymbals are you using? The hats and cymbals sound absolutely fantastic!
Hi and thank you. My hi-hat is a Meinl Byzance 14" Extra Dry Medium, the left side ride is a 20" Bosphorus Turkish Series, the main ride is a 22" Zildjian K Custom Dry Light Ride. The splash is a Sabian AAX, the crash is a Sabian HHX Evolution, and the trash can cymbal is one that was a pawn shop cymbal my husband drilled holes in. I do love them for this type of music.
@@MariaWulfMusic I love trash can cymbals as well. Cool that your husband did that, I am always stuck with where and what size to drill. Thank you for your reply!
You are fantastic drummer!!!!!1000 Bravo!!!??!Your videos help me very much. Please tell me the exactly model of hi hat and ride in this video.Thank you so much...
Thank you, Stylianos. My hi-hat is Meinl Byzance 14" Extra Dry Medium I bought a year ago and the ride is a 22" Zildjian K Custom Dry Light Ride I bought in the early 2000s.
Fantastic! Great job that leaves me amazed. A quick question: I myself have an Iron Cobra pedal and I would like to know how your tension spring is adjusted. Thanks from a Cognac drummer (France)
Hello and thank you, Philippe. I'm afraid I don't have a good answer for your question. I have played other Iron Cobras that I loved but when I bought this one I had a difficult time dialing it in to feel comfortable. I like a quick response so I tend to use higher tension with the beater set at about 45 degrees from the head. However, this pedal feels heavier than I like so I tend to stick with Yamahas. I'm keeping it though and still trying to work with it.
I have recently discovered you, having watched your video on performing double-stroke rolls effectively. Probably the first video I've seen that explained it so well. Loved your playing on this video - it was extremely good, but as said elsewhere, the sound of the kit was a bit 'light'.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you're getting something out of my videos. I'm hoping to post more soon. Plus, each mix I do I learn a bit more so I'm hoping the balance will continue to improve.
The pocket is soooo clean and refined! Wonderful playing!

can you play the chicken by dave weckle
Hi, I could definitely put it on my list!
Ms. Maria where are you from? Please
Hello, I'm from Washington State in the Pacific Northwest.
In spanish plis the video tanks
Not bad for a girl, it was fantastic 🎼👍🏼
You could have just said, "It was fantastic."
Can't hear the bass drum
I'm working on improving my mixes. I hear the bass drum more on certain devices or headphones.
Nice.
