KAYAK FISHING Accessories to Mod Your ICE FISIHNG Sled!?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 гру 2021
- We at Burly fishing love a good project. This week we're making some custom modifications to our Jet Sleds. Ice sleds come with us on almost every trip but they eventually become a disaster with ice fishing rods scattered all over the place. So we're imposing some order in the chaos by taking a Yak Attack gear track from our fishing kayaks and creating modular mounting options for custom made rod tubes, camera gear, cup holders and whatever else our little hearts desire.

Paul. Eye protection pairs really nicely with power tools. Seriously. Wear it.
For the pvc u shaped cut, drill a hole at the bottom of where the cut is going to be, this will give you a nice smooth round bottom and them make your straight cuts with dremmel/miter/pipe cutter or whatever down to the predrilled hole. I was tardy to the party but thought it would be helpful in the future. Thanks for the great video
🙌
Why not use regular pvc cement? And a cap
No reason except I already had epoxy
I’ve been trying to think about customizations to my sled. This is perfect!
The video I’ve been waiting for!
An oscillating multi tool with a narrow saw blade
Well, we don't have ice down here in NC, ever... but, very nice mods. The sonar mounted to the sled is your next thing for sure. That is a great drive-thru method to ice fish. Currently modding my Outlaw, can't wait for her maiden voyage! I'll send you a video when she's ready in Feb. Just FYI, since she has no through hull wiring options, I used MB's green/black rod covers to hide my wires
I love watching videos on ice fishing, because I will never go ice fishing. F@#$ all that..😂
Well at least you admit it. I watch all the ice fishing videos, buy all the ice fishing gear and then go once or twice a season.
Great tip! I was planning to do PVC rod holders for my sled this year, but I love the Yak Track! That is perfect!
How about a vice to help hold it while you chisel it out
I bought a used set up from an older guy at work, it has the rod holders on the outside of the bucket and a seat that goes on top leaving a small section open. Considering i got that and 2 UL rod combos and some other misc items for 30 bucks i was stoked.
I did the same track system on my sled.. I too am a kayak fisherman… I mounted a double header with the dual paddle holder and my auger is mounted on it ..! Looks pretty slick as well..!
The track system is a great idea!! Using a cup style PVC caps might allow you to avoid needing an extension. They typically fit pretty snug to the tube so you can get away without epoxy until you get everything set where you want it. You can drill and set your mount bolts a little easier.
They're usually rounded at the bottom though and I wanted them flat, but if they make that one's then 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@paulglass7268 that makes sense. I know they have flat caps for 1¹/²" tube. Thats what I used for my Beersbee set up. I'm guessing you could find some for 1¹/⁴" too. Either way it a sweet set up!
Dump some epoxy in caps around the nut so you can twist the whole pipe to tighten onto the track.
Good call
For the bottom of the rod holders use a wing nut that is held in place with pop bottle cap with a grove through it for the wings to slide through without the whole nut passing through so you can twist it tight and loose for any adjustments.
You could use brass toilet bowl screws for the base of the rod holders to slide into the tracks.
I don't ice fish so not sure how necessary this mod would be, but... mount thin PVC or wood dowel either vertical or horizontal across the sled to keep things from sliding. Or just a couple 'arms' to set your bucket in between.
Great video!
Lots of people do those, only reason I haven't is to keep things flexible and keep the weight down too
A half hour video to mount some poles and if it's snowing and icing out they're going to get all crapt up

Hi there,Evening guys. Nice mod. Like the interesting idea of mounting a vexi on the track, would definitely like to see that in video. Curious can the trak be cut so to mount on back of sled leaving the center open? Or does the track come in longer length so to essential go all the way across back of sled (obviously leaving say a inch on each end from edge).
They come in different sizes, but you could trim them.
Love the idea. What if you mounted the rod holders to a piece of cutting board. Then you can position them permanently the way you want them. You can purchase the T-bolts separately and use a 1/4 ×20 know or even one of the yakattak tie downs to connect the entire unit to the mount on the sled. Also you can get glue on end caps. I have seen where the caps are filled with epoxy then drilled and tapped for added strength. Might be overkill. Great idea. You could even mount racks horizontally off the side or back if you don't get crazy with weight.
We’ll be overhauling it this year, good call!
Forgot to mention, ram makes track. You can mount a ram ball and fish finder to it. Just a side note. Not all t-track is the same. I have Ram and Yakattak. The t bolts are not the same. They work, but are lose in one. Can't remember which off the top of my head.
My dremel tool cut right through it on that bottom cut.
Don't lose your scoop anymore... thinking drill hole in the lip that the scoop can slide down into, then mod the scoop so there is a stopper on the handle and it won't slide too far down and catch on the ice all the time, everyone will be different depending on the height of your sled and on the length of your handle. Scoop up, handle down. Haven't done it yet... we'll see. Hope that makes sense.
We talked scoop options for sure!
@llWhatsApp+❶❷❸❹❷⓿❺❶❽❻❸ dude give it up and get lost you freaking clown!
Angle grinder with a cutoff wheel is the fastest way to make those cuts
Drill a hole in the PVC pipe then do your side cuts in the rod holders
Why not use PVC Cement?
Ok next ,install the mounting tee before you glue it
4 inch grinder wheel or the Dremel has cut off wheels that will cut the pvc better
✌🏻
Jeff I have a hunch that you may have indulged in some Xmas ales 🍺 before this video?
What mods have you made to your ice sled!
Should have put the hardware in the PVC caps before you glued them to the pipe
Great way to carry rods but wouldn't you be concerned if the sled flipped. The rods would definitely break and hurt your investment. I do like adding the rail to aid with attaching other fishing tools.
Never had a sled flip
@@aaanglers That's good to know as I am building mine now. Thanks for the insight.
Poop or get off the pot. Why did this drag on for so long
