Thanks for the nostalgia. Miss the one in Rockville, MD. Closed sometime in the 80s. My dad would take me there after school whenever my mom either worked late or had an evening class. My parents are both gone now; wish I could go back to that time.
@Joey Vandersloot(open): I lived a few blocks from my nearest Pondersoa; I used to frequent it often as a teen. Those fried wings were heaven on earth, and you couldn't deny the sundae bar either. Now it's a Duff's Wings and Bar.
I miss Bonanza/Ponderosa steaks and grazing without going broke. Can't find anything like it today. A steak and baked potato, you would think can't go wrong. But now most of them are gone.
There were two operating in the Niagara Falls, USA area before covid. Unfortunately, the lockdowns killed them both. I was lucky enough to visit both a few times.
If you went to Pondarosa for dinner with your family, the neighbors would get jealous. :) I love this commercial showing the salad bar in the days with no roofs/coverings. You could lean all the way over LOL
I remember going to this restaurant for birthday parties and stuff during the late 1970's and early 1980's. I never really enjoyed the meals. I found the steaks to be too tough. It was also set up cafeteria style. I recall going up and ordering the meal, but the steaks weren't ready, so we got a table and waited for them to bring the steaks. Ponderosa went bankrupt in Canada sometime in 1988.
The Ponderosa in Tucson, AZ always had a very creepy dark dingy vibe to it. Always remembered not liking it as a kid as well as my younger brother having a very strange encounter while using the sinks in the bathroom.
The old generation had MANNERS. When those vanished in came all those things to make up for how ill behaved later generations are. Probably the fault of my gen: The boomers. We started to lose our manners and the rest is as they say history.
On the Sick and Wrong Podcast, Episode 608, the host was speaking about how he was at Ponderosa when he discovered the blog Why I Masturbate My Profoundly Disabled Son. The all-you-can-eat buffet did not last long in his stomach! 😂
Ok so I read this sick comment. Then my curiosity got me. I googled masturbating my disabled son. There is an article. I read it. I was grossed out yet couldn’t stop reading. I just might read it again😩😩

My dad would take me there while my mom and sister were at the grocery store. My dad has since passed as well. Good times. Wishing you the best.
As a kid the local Ponderosa didn't just have a salad bar but a full blown buffet with these really good fried chicken wings
Yup that started in fall of 1985.

No wonder they went bellyup.

I have found memories of Ponderosa.
There were two operating in the Niagara Falls, USA area before covid. Unfortunately, the lockdowns killed them both. I was lucky enough to visit both a few times.
As a kid in the 1970s we used to call it "Pondergrossa". It was always tough steaks and jello.
My sister and her friends used to insult each other by saying “your house smells like Ponderosa!” Don’t know what that meant
I miss the one in whitehall, PA. I used to go there with my gram. They had a big and great salad bar!

My first paying job. At 13 I made a whopping $3.15 an hour!
Look at those prices. Bring that back and I will never cook again.
Wait 2.29 for a steak pkate AND salad bar?
Yep.
I ain't gonna go to a steakhouse to have the fish. That's just crazy.
Loved it when I was 9 yrs old
Couldn't pay me to eat that crap now 🤢🤢 😁😁
That’s how i feel about Golden Corral 😂
Ha ha , same.
No sneeze guards over the salad bar. Totally disgusting restaurant.
Yeah, because they weren't even a thing way back then! Hater.
Well, it was the late 70s early 80s. Things were gross.
