    The larger airspace will be ok..I think a rear facing slotted port to specs. Would work better than the large open port..it would provide increased back pressure to keep the EVL's from bottoming...but damn it's flexing really good..good voltage..so this setup is very close to being a hit!!!!!!!

      More efficient subs, prefer larger enclosures, where as less efficient drivers prefer smaller enclosures. The EVL series drivers, aren't very efficient drivers at all. They have lower BL as opposed to the ddx and others. There is only so much you can do with those subwoofers. They weren't a good design from the start.

    • @Chuck_Sanders
      @Chuck_Sanders Рік тому

      @@Trucker-Belly possibly some of their drivers, yes. I would have to run DATS to get the actual tsp's of the drivers, to know what it kinda calls for, then graph it out. If you have higher efficiency drivers, they typically always prefer larger enclosures. If you do not have as much space to work with, you want to find a lesser efficient driver. Vas(from the tsp's)can give you an idea, of what the driver will like. I'm sorry about not being too familiar, with alot of JL subwoofers. I haven't really ran them since the mid to late 90's with the exception of a 13w series,a guy gave me on trade to do some recones, and it needed refoamed. If I remember correctly, it took a little larger enclosure, but that was a few years ago.

    • @Chuck_Sanders
      @Chuck_Sanders Рік тому

      That's crazy to find this comment of yours. I just did an enclosure for a 2013, it was 3 Skar DDX 10's and the enclosure was subs up, and aero port back. Was 4.15 cubes net, after sub displacement and bracing. Tuned it, to 28hz and it does very well musically. The ddx subs are a better choice over the EVL series, all day long. They may be only 2.5" coils, but have bigger motors versus the EVL, they have higher BL and just all around better tsp's. Hope your build pays off for you brother! I know he was very happy with his. He runs the Smart 3k with it, and was pretty decent power.

    "Big as I can than fine tune it".....No No no, that is not a good formula, there is a such thing as having a box that's too big, as the case with this one. Too big of a port is a thing too, the bigger the diameter the longer the length has to be. A 8 inch port will have to be very long, that box is acting like an infinite baffle because of the box and port size, them subs aren't gonna last long. The box and port needs to have enough back pressure to keep the sub in control, without it it's just like putting the subs in the trunk without box and playing them. If you stay within the recommended specs of the woofer or a little bigger you'll be just fine.
