To exit service mode: do the same thing as entering service mode: rotate cycle selector to any position except 6, press start and FS button at same time, wait 3 seconds, rotate cycle selector to 6, wait 3 seconds, release both buttons.
If you are having a speed sensor issue. The speed sensor is located on the motor. It's a 40 dollar part and is easy to change. Don't buy a new motor!!! The sensor and the sensor clip are sold separately so by both parts tossup them out. Mine has went out twice since I have owned the machine and both times its fixed the problem. This video is great for this machine and it tells you almost everything to know. Thanks for taking. the time to do it.

I'm helping my neighbor with his washer. It is making a horrendous sound because the gears are not fully engaging on the transmission causing it to slip. This has manifested as an ON/SPIN error code in diagnostics. thanks for these videos, they are a big help.
I don't see my issue posted by anyone, or on the video. Mine won't run the diagnostic check and it will start to spin but stop after 2 seconds. Then the 'spin' and 'lid locked' lights flash until I turn it off. The 'on' light never comes on during this problem even though it is definitely on.
Thanks for the helpful and informative video. Just showing me how to take off the front panel was helpful. I found my belt laying on the ground completely undamaged. Probably saved me quite a bit of money in getting a repairman to come out.

Same here.. The dryer part of my stacker just doesn't start. The belt and pulley are intact but there's no noise or buzzing sound when I press the on button..
So my GE stackable doesn't have the water valve you show at 9:00. That area is just completely empty. Where else would that be in the unit? I have leaking on the very back left of the unit and cannot tell where it's coming from. It's in a laundry closet in a condo so I don't have easy access to the back. Model is GUD27ESSJ1WW.
Thank you so much man. The GE laundry center in my condo crapped out last Fall so I had it replaced with a new one of the same model. However I understand the washer and dryer have separate circuits so in theory is it possible to separate the power input such that the washer and dryer each has it own separate power cord? Thanks.
Nice video, very helpful. According to the diagnostic I've got a bad pressure switch or mother board. How do I test the pressure switch & clean the diaphragm? The machine starts to fill, stops , then goes into wash mode without water BUT if I disconnect diaphragm hose until water fills up to correct level, it works perfectly! Thoughts?
Do you have to turn on hot water on a GE stackable. It washes fine but then it clicks 5 times and shuts off. Then it try’s to restart and only clicks 4 times. Brand new , hose was bad and wife said all she uses is cold water so i didn’t hook up hot water. Thanks. Chris

Had a pair of undergarments locked up in the motor shaft. Theyre out and free now but motor will start to spin and then flash spin code and stop washer. Any ideas?

Hi, I have a problem with my ge stackable and I can't really figure out what is wrong with it. I went through all the diagnostics on it and nothing was wrong so I thought that maybe it needed reset so I unplugged it. So I thought I would run a very small load and see what it does. It filled in with water and when that was done the agitation started and then stopped then my wash light started blinking so I pushed the start button and the agitator started then stopped. As long as I kept hitting that start button it would agitate. Any thoughts on this.
@@tolliver4056 I just encountered this exact same situation, but I did not know how to pull up or interpret error codes. I need to go back to the customer and do some tests and pull up the error codes, but from what I have read, I think I may have a bad motor speed sensor.
Idk if you check this anymore but recently got a brand new washer GE a week ago worked fine. Now it won't fill with water. It does the 2 pumps and after waiting 10 seconds it doesn't do anything and shuts off...did the diagnostic and showing no codes but tested both cold and hot side and it fills like it should. Take it out of diagnostic and it continues to not fill

So I have this stacked unit and when the washer fills and the agitator kicks it there is a loud grinding/rubbing sound while it is agitating. Also it is very loud in it's spin cycle however it does sound out and the agitator does work. It is such a loud sound though that it is intolerable I was told by an appliance repairman that it was the transmission or a bearing in the transmission and $80 part. At that time I wasn't able to order that part so it was wanting to run this by you and see if you could tell me if it is the transmission or the bearing/pulley alone as it is functional it's just very loud. I would like to possibly order the part online and replace it before selling this unit It was an expensive unit and I hate to just throw it out or sell it for 100 bucks.

I am looking to purchase a 3 ye old GE stacked unit. Nice looking but seller says washer “tends to go off balance but it helps to run on ‘bulky’”. I don’t know the model number. Could this be any easy fix like the rubber straps or should I stay away from it? Thanks.
Could be the suspension rods if it is getting o of balance. Or if the thing wasn’t level. If it is the rods the front ones won’t be any trouble but the back ones will be. You may have to take the dryer off the replace the rear ones. I may stay away from it if I were you. Unless you like challenges. Or it could be as easy as making sure it is level.
Have you seen where all the lights come on and stay solid (no blinking)? When I run through the test mode, the lights still stay solid. I'm leaning towards the main control board as the problem.
I have a blocked motor code. In the test settings it try’s to agitate but stops. In the spin mode it clunks then will spin. The motor when turned by hand turns smoothly as does the drum. What do you think it is.
Hi I did what you said and the spin error code came up. I did have something wrapped around at the bottom of the motor and I removed it but still nothing working. I noticed there was a loose wire with a little plug on it after i ripped the clothes out. I would send you a pic of wire but not sure how to. Do you think the loose wire might be the reason.

I have a GE stackable (here in Mexico it's called MABE), Model #MCL1740PSBB02, Serial # 1510C00058, and it doesn't work. I have 3 lights on constantly, WASH, RINSE and SPIN. I have tried to reset it with no luck. The control board has been replaced in May of this year. The machine worked until last night. I've unplugged it, plugged it back again and with the 3 lights ON, if filled with water and did a cycle. It still has water in it since last night, but it doesn't "drain, spin " or anything. Hi there, I have a stacked GE unit like this that has been sitting in a garage for about a year. Its clean but now that I have moved and need it, the dryer is making a very unhappy motor noise when I turn it on and it'll run for about 5 seconds then shut off with a hot electronics smell. I've unhooked tube to check for blockage on vent and same result. Any ideas?
This is great information and appreciate the time you spent getting out to the world. I have the Kenmore version of this unit in our rental and walked through the diagnostics procedure you detailed to find out why it was not running. I had the blocked motor error (on light and spin light). I took the front cover off and found socks and panties inside the cabinet with one of the panties being wrapped around the motor pulley assembly. What I have observed is when in the agitate test, the motor tries to engage with a couple pulses (a couple relay clicks) and then engages solid for about 2-3 seconds and then the motor stops and the spin light flashes. I hit the play/pause again and the motor starts agains for about 1 second and turns off. When I drained the tub and tried the spin feature, a couple clicks with the motor engaging with the clutch and it took right off. Any thoughts on why it will not agitate but will spin? I can rotate the pulley but noticed it does not glide as well as yours in the video when you gave it a push. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Have the same issue. I just bought it used. Socks must have jammed the motor and ripped off 2 little wires. Don't know where they connect to, need to call a serviceman unless someone can tell me where they attach to. Looks like a pink and a blueish green.
I know it's a year old video but if you happen to check comments, why would I get flashing "on & rinse" lights every time I try to wash a blanket. I have to pull the blanket out and then it works again. And will finish washing blanket.
On this model the speed sensor is going to be located on the motor underneath the plastic blower blade. super easy to change out after you remove the motor.
Now my washer is stuck in washing and notting is wrong i just placed some pant inside ans is flashing and the lid lock is on what wrong with it immnot have and trouble with it for 3 year now is stuck ANSWER FOR ME LOL ( for this trouble place the knob To off ans wait is reset iself)

just changed gear case was leaking giving me an error ..not it wont agitate although it spun up once nice an smooth and fast but now its just erratic starts to agitate but fails with a blinker tried reseting it erratic will fill but cant seem to complete an operation wondering if its the hall effect sensor or wax motor or mobo oh often i heard some clackty noises the coupler were taking time to click in and the pump seems to run extensively at times before a spin or agitate would take place

Interesting video. I have one of these units and the problem is that the tank will not fill...the water flows out directly into the drain hose and out into the drain...Do you think that I need to order a new board or ?? Thanks
You probably have the drain hose pushed too far into the drain standpipe, which will allow the water to self-siphon. Solution is to pull the hose back up a bit. (Use a zip tie to make sure the drain hose can't come completely out of the standpipe.)

I’m having a code that’s just “rinse and lid lock”. The on light isn’t on with the code. Any ideas on what it can be? Won’t drain or spin, I drained all the water by hand and checked the drain pump for obstruction
This is a great video - thank you very much!! Is there a way to bypass the lid lock switch? There is probably a way to connect / disconnect wires in order to bypass the switch and magnet combo. In Canada, the replacement part is over $100!
What if I have the blocked motor code but their is nothing blocking it I would clear the codes and still the same starts spinning then stops every time
I have a stackable unit and it is a real pain in the you know what! I cleared the error codes (don't know what the code was or what it meant) and then tried to restart the machine... After restarting the machine using the same wash cycle setting it goes back to rinse cycle and then it fills and empties, fills and empties, fills and empties, fills and empties.... doesn't spin at all or do anything else. I just changed the cycle setting from heavy to medium and now it's finally beginning to spin and do something different. No idea... At least I'll know to look for an error code next time I have this problem. This is happened to me on numerous occasions. Usually, if I just reset it it goes back to normal operation.
Please tell me how to reset the codes we have 700 of those in the place we work, there is trick like open and close the lid like 12 times but that never works with me

@@jenniferperez9937 I understand that typically means the control board is bad. It would be great if Bearded Appliance Repair would reply. I have that issue now, and the unit fills as soon as the water is turned on to inlets. Rotary switch is set to off and don't even need to push the Start button.
Hey sir how you doing today. My question is the shifter hub comes down but transmission pulley starts to spin before the shifter hub locks in no debris or anything of that nature
I have a ge stackable. When I turn on the power or plug it in. It blinks the lid lock. When I have the dial in the 12 o’clock position and hold frantic softener button and start for a few seconds and then turn dial to 6 o’clock position I get no blink except for the lid lock. All other lights are lit up. Except the lid lock is still blinking. Every other dial zone displays the same results. If unplug the lid lock part and put it back on the machine will run properly for at least one load then the problem starts over.

My machine fills, agitates for a second or two and stops. with the wash light on. Does the same in #9 diagnostics. Saw no reference in video for wash light only error code? Can you help point me in the right direction to repair (for my senior neighbor)?

I have a GE stackable . Status codes all green except Lid Locked. Machine will go into a discharge cycle without spinning on its own... Any ideas ? Aloso water is leaking from what I can tell is from the water hose connections. Thanks
Great vid very helpful I used your video to diagnose and clear an obstruction in the motor now there are no error codes and it starts and runs like normal until it gets to wash mode and starts to agitate it'll agitate for like two seconds and then stop and the wash light flashes any helper advice on this issue I would greatly appreciate l
I am looking to purchase a 3 ye old GE stacked unit. Nice looking but seller says washer “tends to go off balance but it helps to run on ‘bulky’”. I don’t know the model number. Could this be any easy fix like the rubber straps or should I stay away from it?

Could be the suspension rods if it is getting o of balance. Or if the thing wasn’t level. If it is the rods the front ones won’t be any trouble but the back ones will be. You may have to take the dryer off the replace the rear ones. I may stay away from it if I were you. Unless you like challenges. Or it could be as easy as making sure it is level.
Have you seen where all the lights come on and stay solid (no blinking)? When I run through the test mode, the lights still stay solid. I'm leaning towards the main control board as the problem.
How do you reset the codes once fixed and exit diagnostics??
How do you replace the speed sensor on a stackable washer and dryer?
I have a blocked motor code. In the test settings it try’s to agitate but stops. In the spin mode it clunks then will spin. The motor when turned by hand turns smoothly as does the drum. What do you think it is.

Hi I did what you said and the spin error code came up. I did have something wrapped around at the bottom of the motor and I removed it but still nothing working. I noticed there was a loose wire with a little plug on it after i ripped the clothes out. I would send you a pic of wire but not sure how to. Do you think the loose wire might be the reason.

So I have a GE stackable, and the rinse and spin light are blinking when I wash clothes and it doesn’t spin and drain enough. I pressed the start and fabric button and turned to 6 but none of the lights blink they are all just on. Then stay on when I turn to 3x. Any advice?
I have this model but get the spin and rinse lights flashing sometimes. Smells hot/burning. then stops and takes a few minutes to lid to unlatch. any suggestions?

Good morning Sir. Sorry to bother you with this, but maybe, since you are the specialist, you can tell me what is going on and how to fix it. I have a GE stackable (here in Mexico it's called MABE), Model #MCL1740PSBB02, Serial # 1510C00058, and it doesn't work. I have 3 lights on constantly, WASH, RINSE and SPIN. I have tried to reset it with no luck. The control board has been replaced in May of this year. The machine worked until last night. I've unplugged it, plugged it back again and with the 3 lights ON, if filled with water and did a cycle. It still has water in it since last night, but it doesn't "drain, spin " or anything. Any suggestions on what could cause all this? Thank you for your time and effort.
Hi there, I have a stacked GE unit like this that has been sitting in a garage for about a year. Its clean but now that I have moved and need it, the dryer is making a very unhappy motor noise when I turn it on and it'll run for about 5 seconds then shut off with a hot electronics smell. I've unhooked tube to check for blockage on vent and same result. Any ideas?
Had the blocked motor code. Couldn't find anything blocking it but both terminals near the motor had their wires torn out

This is great information and appreciate the time you spent getting out to the world. I have the Kenmore version of this unit in our rental and walked through the diagnostics procedure you detailed to find out why it was not running. I had the blocked motor error (on light and spin light). I took the front cover off and found socks and panties inside the cabinet with one of the panties being wrapped around the motor pulley assembly. What I have observed is when in the agitate test, the motor tries to engage with a couple pulses (a couple relay clicks) and then engages solid for about 2-3 seconds and then the motor stops and the spin light flashes. I hit the play/pause again and the motor starts agains for about 1 second and turns off. When I drained the tub and tried the spin feature, a couple clicks with the motor engaging with the clutch and it took right off. Any thoughts on why it will not agitate but will spin? I can rotate the pulley but noticed it does not glide as well as yours in the video when you gave it a push. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Have the same issue. I just bought it used. Socks must have jammed the motor and ripped off 2 little wires. Don't know where they connect to, need to call a serviceman unless someone can tell me where they attach to. Looks like a pink and a blueish green.
I know it's a year old video but if you happen to check comments, why would I get flashing "on & rinse" lights every time I try to wash a blanket. I have to pull the blanket out and then it works again. And will finish washing blanket.

On this model the speed sensor is going to be located on the motor underneath the plastic blower blade. super easy to change out after you remove the motor.

What about some info on speed sensor on the motor and is location. On the blocked motor code? Clothes caught in the motor can pull that sensor off the motor

just changed gear case was leaking giving me an error ..not it wont agitate although it spun up once nice an smooth and fast but now its just erratic starts to agitate but fails with a blinker tried reseting it erratic will fill but cant seem to complete an operation wondering if its the hall effect sensor or wax motor or mobo oh often i heard some clackty noises the coupler were taking time to click in and the pump seems to run extensively at times before a spin or agitate would take place

Interesting video. I have one of these units and the problem is that the tank will not fill...the water flows out directly into the drain hose and out into the drain...Do you think that I need to order a new board or ?? Thanks
You probably have the drain hose pushed too far into the drain standpipe, which will allow the water to self-siphon. Solution is to pull the hose back up a bit. (Use a zip tie to make sure the drain hose can't come completely out of the standpipe.)

I’m having a code that’s just “rinse and lid lock”. The on light isn’t on with the code. Any ideas on what it can be? Won’t drain or spin, I drained all the water by hand and checked the drain pump for obstruction
This is a great video - thank you very much!! Is there a way to bypass the lid lock switch? There is probably a way to connect / disconnect wires in order to bypass the switch and magnet combo. In Canada, the replacement part is over $100!
What if I have the blocked motor code but their is nothing blocking it I would clear the codes and still the same starts spinning then stops every time
I have a stackable unit and it is a real pain in the you know what! I cleared the error codes (don't know what the code was or what it meant) and then tried to restart the machine... After restarting the machine using the same wash cycle setting it goes back to rinse cycle and then it fills and empties, fills and empties, fills and empties, fills and empties.... doesn't spin at all or do anything else. I just changed the cycle setting from heavy to medium and now it's finally beginning to spin and do something different. No idea... At least I'll know to look for an error code next time I have this problem. This is happened to me on numerous occasions. Usually, if I just reset it it goes back to normal operation.
Please tell me how to reset the codes we have 700 of those in the place we work, there is trick like open and close the lid like 12 times but that never works with me
hey dude thanks for the help, was wondering if that little fan thing on the motor is real important, I just pulled the motor on my GE stack and that looks like the only thing that is busted. It was really loose and melted. I think that is why its giving me an error. Thanks for your advice. Frog

@@jenniferperez9937 I understand that typically means the control board is bad. It would be great if Bearded Appliance Repair would reply. I have that issue now, and the unit fills as soon as the water is turned on to inlets. Rotary switch is set to off and don't even need to push the Start button.

New GE stackable as you video shows will come on portable turn on once twice shuts off and won't do anything else what's the problem

Hey sir how you doing today. My question is the shifter hub comes down but transmission pulley starts to spin before the shifter hub locks in no debris or anything of that nature
I have a ge stackable. When I turn on the power or plug it in. It blinks the lid lock. When I have the dial in the 12 o’clock position and hold frantic softener button and start for a few seconds and then turn dial to 6 o’clock position I get no blink except for the lid lock. All other lights are lit up. Except the lid lock is still blinking. Every other dial zone displays the same results. If unplug the lid lock part and put it back on the machine will run properly for at least one load then the problem starts over.
