What I love about Killer Instinct is the combo system is so unique that no other fighting game has and the announcer is intense and hype af. My compliments to the uploader. 👌
The superior graphics, special effects, sound effects and unique character line up and even animations are what made the first one so great. They definitely got kI right the first time. It was like every great fighting game rolled in one. I agree the 3rd kI missed the mark on a lot of things. It had the worst graphics out of all the next gen fighters. No stage Enders and horrible ultimates. They need another kI that reintroduces everything that made kI great. The game needs a graphic overhaul more than anything

Ki 1 arcade was the smoothest best sounding fighting game ever. Imho.. I was addicted to shoving quarters into the MK2 machine until I heard Ultra Combo in the arcade for the first time....
Orchids ultra was always my favorite! I studied all the combos!! I remember I was 19 and would have the younger kids watch me play and be like "how are you doing all that!?" Felt like a game god lol

Anyone who studied this game like I did could do em all with any character, but theres always just that 1 character that you where just beast with... for me, it was always Orchid!!!
Spinal reminds of when those two dudes was trying to fight Freddy Kruger's skeleton on nightmare on elm Street 3. And those skeletons on army of darkness aka evil dead 3 which are both hilarious. And chief thunder looks like that wooden Indian from creepshow 2.
I was 10 when KI hit the arcade. All the allowance money I lost to the teenagers. I'd watch them play each other wait for the best one to go on a streak usually the only one capable of pulling off consistent ultra combos and id intentionally pick fulgore just to hear the lovely sound of him getting his ass kicked by jago....i never stood a chance but I loved every second of it.
:) Even though I was born in 1998, I actually remember watching/playing this with my bigger brothers on the first 2 classic games on the Super NES and N64 and those were the fun memories. I wasn't really into the new one on the Xbox One, but I did play the arcade version of KI on it.
To think that the final bosses in the arcade KI games (Eyedol and Gargos, respectively) didn't even have an Ultra combo. Then came KI2013, Season 3, and now BOTH of them have their own Ultras.
I know it's nostalgia effect, but the SNES one will always be my favourite in terms of everything: pacing, sound, the "ULTRAAAAA, ULTRAAAAA" instead of "ULTRAAAA COMBOOOOO", and everything. The original arcade version comes just right after it.
I still remember playing KI in the arcade when I first discovered Chief Thunders 999 hit combo. I could start from one side then constant air pop till they're trapped in the corner. The game doesn't end till they hit the ground so I would destroy a single person for 10 minutes while others laughed. Nowadays they would get offended, give the other guy a participation trophy while he screams at the sky, identifies as a woman and then cries in the his/her/it's safe space with crayons.
I don't like how they sort of stop and pose in the middle of an Ultra combo in the newer game. I also don't like that thumping sound that keeps getting higher and higher.

In Killer Instinct 1 I made it my purpose to learn everyone in the game including Eyedol! I was 2 years old when this came out on arcade and I stayed on it! This is the first game that I ever played and ever had on Super Nintendo at 3 years old! I randomly found out everyone's moves with no internet or anything! I became amazing in this game with everyone! I play the other ones as well yet I personally enjoy KI 1 the best overall! From the characters, danger moves, ultras, combo breakers, shadow moves, doing moves faster for more points and damage! I can go on and on about KI! Also a couple fighting games ripped off of KI or just added their own spins to it as well lol!

KI/Arcade/Snes: the true og of ultra combos KI2: haven't played but blown away by it New KI: dosent even compared the first 2 and when i first saw it. I said "too much dubstep was envolved, and it wasn't as fast as the OG's" Still have the black snes cartiage. Fun story tho I downloaded KI arcade to a usb thumbdrive and took it to computer class, and played it in front of everybody there. Needless to say when I was inputting buttons on the keyboard at blazing speed with cinder I made my first ultra in that game and everybody spun in there chairs.
Killer Instinct would be perfect crossover with Mortal Kombat. That would be impeccable. I just hope Killer Instinct makes some new characters. Plus all those cool new characters that MK has put in would be so legendary and profitable 🔥

I never played KI on the arcade, only on the Snes. I feel like I missed a lot. But the toned down version has it's benefit. Like the anouncer just sayin Ultra (with the reverb) does something to me. But from the look of this the arcade versions are the superior ones.
They are for sure. Those were the days when arcade versions were far superior to their console ports. Killer Instinct was a true revolution in the graphic department, it was King in the arcade rooms.
Why does the SNES version only go "Ultra!"? Did they max out the memory in the cartridge to where they didn't have enough room to fit in the "comboooooo" voice?
Even though I like the new graphic of the KI 3, I really dislike their ultra combo and as well their Ultimate... I prefer the old classic of the KI and KI 2. The old classics are way better. That's my opinion.
I agree. I definitely prefer the ultras from the older KI games. The new KI graphics are awesome, but the mechanics of the ultra combos, I wish they would have put more effort into them.
Christopher Catalano they both can end the same actually. But I was able to get her super flip or whatever is called in at the last second on KIG. But the only differences I've seen were the camera angles and the taunts, as sometimes, Maya in KI2 will throw her blades in the air as a victory pose or the pose as seen in this video (2 of them). In KIG, she always does the same 1 pose over and over.
You can alter pretty much any of their ultra combo in the N64. I think it is nice and I don't remember if it could be done on the arcade one. I like the Jago one on the N64.
I like the new KI more than KI2 or KI gold.... still love the arcade KI1 but that's because it was new and blew our minds... KI3 does it justice at least

Nowadays, I tend to think very poorly of it when I look back at it. (Especially considering that one can now get BOTH of the arcade originals of KI and KI2 (including the bug-riddled initial release version of the first KI), KI Gold (via Rare Replay) AND KI2013 on XB1.)

I agree. While I'm grateful for the reboot, it doesn't have that KI feeling that the previous ones had. The ultras are ok but many are too slow, especially the ones with alot of pauses between. I would have been okay with an HD remake of KI Gold or arcade, and simply combined all the characters from 1 and 2.
I agree, especially compared to the previous versions. Orchid, Jago, and Combo Ultras are a bit quicker than most but even then, I don't like the "pace" of them

ShiitakeWarrior I understand that man. Still one of my favorite titles on the SNES but KI1 arcade I enjoyed more and I feel was definitely ahead if it's time. While I'm still warming up to the Xbox version, at least we have some sort of a KI reboot after nearly... what...20 years? Lol

Only played the SNES. But I like the "ULTRAA" better, not the "ULTRAA COMBOO".
1. XBox/PC (not too much fan of the music combo though, but it's cool)

I think that the Ultra combos were easier to follow and more impressive in the older games than the Xbox One version.

I’m sorry, but until I see an Ultra from the first two games that can match up with Shadow Jago’s ultra then the new game is better.

I agree. While I'm grateful for the reboot, it doesn't have that KI feeling that the previous ones had. The ultras are ok but many are too slow, especially the ones with alot of pauses between. I would have been okay with an HD remake of KI Gold or arcade, and simply combined all the characters from 1 and 2.

I agree, especially compared to the previous versions. Orchid, Jago, and Combo Ultras are a bit quicker than most but even then, I don't like the "pace" of them
I definitely like the ultra voiceover but these Ultras are a bit slow in pace compared to older KI versions.
