I know all of you know it, and are rightfully proud of this. But as a long, lost...more than 40 years old H.O. train modeler myself in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pa. THIS IS AWESOME. No need to explain the imagination, and personal feelings all of you obviously have in this wonderful world that allows you to Be that KID again. Wanna come out and play?

Almost forgot. Today. I introduced the Pretend World of Trains to my 10 year old Grandson for the first time. He couldn't believe, or get enough of it. WE NOW HAVE A NEW Model Railroader in the family. Thanks again. You all did a marvelous, and loving job.

Bespectacled-blue-shirt-dufus: "I love the horn!" You don't say.....good you told us....couldn'ta guessed that in a million years. Other than the frickin' horn, good sounds. Fantastic work on the geography, flora, buildings, crossings, etc. All for naught with all the oblivious "giants" popping up all over....(coulda introduced us..."That's Bob and Ed....this is Carl....I'm Dennis....here I am again....and again....")

I agree too that the "giant" humans should have stayed out of view as best they could. As for the trains and the layout, just AMAZING!!!

Gosh and b'golly, wot a wonderful layout, not diminished at all by the 50 ft giants wandering about. I luv the 'sag' in the phone lines. Not an easy thing to accomplish, I'll wager and @ 14:24 I'm greeted with a '55 AND a '57 Chev at the crossing... very cool (!)
...and fantastic and immensely satisfying realism all around... AMAZING!

Very enjoyable vid! Just watching this from the "locomotive engineer's view" is very relaxing. I appreciate the time that I was a member of this wonderful club. Sad to say that this beautiful layout is now gone but a new and even more versatile layout is being built at this time. But I will miss this one very much.

From my understanding, although the old layout was gorgeous, it was old and had quite a bit of termite damage, electrical problems, and it was not easy for handicapped people to have access as there was a section that you had to "duck under" to access the rest of the railroad. The members of worked very hard and now there is a new layout in place. It's double-decker with all new modern electronics, trackwork, and scenery. I hope to visit and see it soon. I think if you type "Suncoast Model Railroad Club" in the UA-cam search box, you'll see a TV news spot featuring the new layout while it's under the construction phase.

I don't mean to be offensive in any way, but next time keep the guy with the remote out of frame because he looks directly at the camera on the train which ruins the realistic mood of the layout, and it's creepy at times.

Exclamations of the filming quality, people in view ect.
I video filmed this 2 years ago on May 5, 2012. I was a visiting guest at the Largo train clubs Open House following a near by train show.
I asked the members if they would push my camera car around their layout. This was not a planned filming; the people in the shots were other guest during the open house and most were unaware of the filming.
“Sometimes you can get whatever you can get and that’s as good as it gets”

    • @trdtrailcat5762

Yeah I know, but as I said I was just a guest that day at their club open house and I just ask if they would push my camera car around the layout. Hardly anybody at the club knew my camera car was filming so everybody was for the most part acting normal. Ideally I wish I could have filmed this with no one present, several trains running and the operator pushing the camera car doing so as if he was the engineer in the cab.
But, that didn't happen however, I am glad I was able to capture & record on film this fabulous layout that's now extinct. The club has torn down this layout and is currently reconstructing another one.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments !!

What proper horn signals? In the town I live in there is several grade crossings that is close together.. Here's their signal for those crossings: Long ---------------------------------- longer-------------------------------------------------------long------------------- until the lead unit is over the last crossing. The other crossings gets three long signals.

Rail Cat, thanks for the back-story and my sympathy on the comments and the behavior of your "volunteer" train player. He would not, in an engineman role, have lasted out of the initial terminal w/o getting FIRED ! (Improper signals, excessive /unnecessary use of horn, failure to sound Rule 19-L approaching crossings - not to mention "Hogging" the camera !). As you said, you get an opportunity to record (especially for posterity), you take it. Thanks for the ride !!!...just wish there'd been a bit more accommodation for the video...surely they wanted a copy ?

Noticed on all the bridge crossings there are 2 rails running into 4 rails then back to 2 once the bridge is crossed.
    Any reason for this?

    • @stinkspirit585
      @stinkspirit585 8 років тому +1

+farnthboy The extra set of rails on the bridges are referred to as "guard rails", and are present on prototype bridges, too, not just on models. They are installed to help guide the wheel flanges properly through turnouts ("switches") and other critical trackwork, including over bridges, where a derailment could be catastrophic and financially costly to the railroad. Also, in the event of a derailment, they are intended to help keep the rolling stock ON THE BRIDGE, rather than tumbling off it and into the river or gorge, as that result would be a much more costly accident and would require a great deal more time to remedy than simply putting a car's wheel set back on the tracks and rolling it to the nearest repair track for service. That was a GREAT question; I hope this explanation is helpful.....!

The guy with goofy looks staring into the camera especially much but the other gigantic humanoids completely destroy the realism of what appears to be an amazing layout. Couldn't give the video a like because the entire point of a cab ride vid & the mood they're intended to create was totally lost due to the aforementioned goofy looking remote guy. Lastly the people yapping destroy the train sounds...not cool for a cab ride vid. Apologies for such a negative comment but concept of a pov cab ride video showing off a great deal of hard work is obviously lost on ya'll.
