A momentary-on tail cap function is such an important feature to have on a daily-use pocket flashlight. I wish Nitecore had considered this with both this flashlight and the longer 2AA variant, the MT2A Pro.
You've been waiting to run out of battery every time you blink?all but low..the med and high are too high of lumens..low 50lm med 200lm and high 450lm would have been perfect.
@@omegarad123 my job require me to use a small penlight that need to be as bright as 700lm for a very short moment of time. Perfect for you does not mean perfect for everyone.
Glad they put in an extra brightness setting and mode memory, but I would have liked a lower low (maybe 10 lumens) and more medium "medium" (maybe 150- 200 lumens). But still, an upgraded UI over the overly simple MT1/2C series, especially because I can turn it on at the 50 lumen setting rather than have to cycle to it. Anyone complaining it doesn't come on high... just leave the mode memory on high🤷♂️.
I've EDC'd this light for a while and I just wanted to update my thoughts on it. First the positive: Nitecore has been stepping up their in-house LEDs! My sample has a much cleaner white tint than my greenish MH25 Pro and MT2C Pro. The beam profile is just about perfect- big hot spot, plenty of throw for it's size, and usable spill. As I said in my comment above, I greatly appreciate being able to turn this light on low, which, at 50 lumens, is plenty of light for most day to day tasks. More light is just a half press away if needed (which isn't often). Really, my only qualm with this light is that it's using an old-school reverse clicky, which means there's no momentary by partially pressing the switch, and the only way you'll get any light is after a loud "click". It's not the end of the world, but after years of using lights with silent momentary modes or E-switches, it feels like a step backwards. Even so, not a deal breaker for me and the size, battery format and performance make this light worth it.
Get the heck out of here with that lower low BS..everyone thinks they're a spy behind enemy line seeking in to steal secret documents..wtf is wrong with people..flashlights are for seeing in the dark..not creeping around in it..50lmns is perfect.. God knows you have to save battery life somewhere and be able to see good as well..mid 300lms and high 800lms is ridiculous..should have been low 50lm med 200lm high 450lm now that would have been the flashlight I've been looking for James bond
FINALLY! A two-way clip! Great for clipping it on a ball cap for an improvised headlamp, and many other things. AA and 14500 compatibility! I'm in - my current EDC ( i5t Olight ) is getting retired.
There should have been 3 modes. An ultra low (1 lumen or 5 lumens) for survival scenarios. After all, the main point of an AA survival flashlight is the ability to run for extended periods, on top of the wide availability of this battery format.
What I really want is a light running a 14500 in the EDC line up with lumen shield & search modes that might allow 1500-2000 lumens . With a built in battery which a lot of ppl complain about but I get it I know that allows the light to both be shorter & have a higher MAH battery. I trust Nitecore batteries to last & be durable because they do/are & while others may not get it I'm on board with the advantages of built in batteries. In the meantime thanks for the new offering I have an MT2A Pro & I'll probably pick on these up as well. The MT2A Pro is a comfortable size for me for EDC outside of it being sightly too long that I often take it out of pocket if I'm sitting down like when driving. I do miss having a moonlight mode in these lights & the hat clip portion of the pocket clip on the MT2A Pro becomes unbent too easily. I love Nitecore lights & until recently have been carrying a P12 everyday since 2013. My current P12 is a 2015 version purchased in 2016 that's been EDC'd for 8yrs. The light now has some serious sentimental value to me after carrying for years & having it be durable & reliable it's like an old friend. It's been dropped too many times to count & the light still works & refuses to die! Only stopped carrying it to go smaller. Keep killing it Nitecore.
My main issue with this light and I did buy one is that it didn't come with a power indicator on the switch. This is kind of requirement nowadays and what made me order a olight baton pro EDC 4 hours after I ordered this... Because I hate not having a power indicator on a light. And both lights are the same price so I know they could have done it for the money.
EDC LIGHT... 1-single cell AA/14500 2-2 way clip 3-3 MODES minimum...Moon sub lumen would be very nice. 30-50 low/50% mid/700+ high. 4-1/2 press to cycle, full press stay on. 5-LONG run times ! 6-Memory mode, or start from low, long press moon. 7---I flip flop between High CRI and CW 6500, depending. 8-IPX8. 9-1-2 meter drop. My current favorites are Acebeam Pokelit AA and Acebeam TAC AA. I also LOVE Copper !! Color of body choices are very appreciated, Tan, Orange and Black. Tail Standing is MASSIVE bonus...!!! The high Candela is looking freaking sweet !! You have my attention !!
Very much looks like a superior version of the Lumintop Tool AA 2.0. I've used that light for a while but didn't love the strobe or 5 brightness settings just for EDC use. This has a way better setup for controls and brightness levels. My only complaint is the clip being more centered on the light. These days I won't use anything that isn't deep carry.
Looks like a great beam profile. But an EDC light should have a moonlight mode IMO. 50 lumens will burn your retinas out when your eyes are adjusted to the dark, especially indoors.
energizer lithium battery is still a AA battery so the max brightness is 200 lumens. Use the rechargeable battery that comes with the light will enable you to have 800 lumens.
I've been using the MT2A Pro for a few months now for EDC carry, and this is my suggestion if you're deciding between the two: If you want a slightly higher run time/brighter light and the ability to use the flashlight as a glassbreaker, go for the MT2A Pro. If you want to use less AA Batteries for emergencies and want portability for small fanny packs or pockets, go for the MT1A Pro.
My concern is it seems about 1/2 to 3/4 in too short. Once it gets hot, which it will at 800, how can you operate it without touching head and have full grip on it? Pretty much why I avoid most pocket tiny lights with tail switches. That and low battery life.
@@Let_there_be_flashlight Appreciate your response, I don’t recall seeing that info on their website. Already preordered, anyway. Peace on your journey.
A true edc light needs a moonlight mode. Even the edc 33 and 35 have a moonlight mode. Not being able to use this as a bedside light is a major downer.
Cute, but far from Perfect! Here is what I am looking for in an EDC light Full brightness when the light comes on... Every.time! Blinding a potential opponent has worked several times for me in the past to prevent further escalation of a potentially dangerous situation. Separate switches for on/off and brightness to prevent accidental change of settings. Body length of the light so it protrudes slightly from both ends of your fist. This provides a striking tool in case the blinding light does not stop a suspicious person Straight body so that it fits snag-free into the leg pocket of my pants External charging port - If I have to take the light apart to charge it, I may postpone it. This thing meets 1 out of 5... 20%... It may be a good light, but it's not for me... I'll stick with my P10iX

What the newest UV Flashlight? I'm in the market to detect Scorpions in my line of work.
How long will it run at 800lm before it steps down?
This is the question that is preventing me from buying it. If I can only run $800 for 5 minutes and then it steps down then I'll grab something else

Doesn't get hot. Only slightly warm thanks to the new led.
how come you didnt made the mt2c pro & mt1c pro also in that same ui🤔
We make strides in our progress and we listen to what you guys like/don't like and we try to incorporate that feedback.
I like that the mt2c pro goes straight to high every time. you dont have to reset it every time.

Moonlight or 5 lumens suck..waste of brightness level..
