I'm a transistor guy, using older Threshold amps in Biamp. or Triamp mode. If I was wealthy enough, I would have a FEW sound rooms with different gear. This amp would be in one of them! :-)
Now for the million dollar question. I listen to death/grindcore metal on my Legacy Audio Calibres. Needless to say, I need gobs of power. Current setup is: two Peavey CS-800X solid state amps per speaker (bi-amped). They are actually very, very good, with less than 0.03% THD at full rated power. Bass is raised 9 dB (from 100Hz down) to make it sound like an actual death metal concert. So unlike most people that listen to Mickey-mouse music that has little actual power-density, I actually need and use the power. Is there any hope for me if I ever wanted to switch to tube amplification from PrimaLuna? Maximum budget is capped at $8k. Thanks for your time.
Great video! Would like to check if these are powerful enough to drive the kef reference 5 speakers. Its 90db sensitivity, 50-400W, but has 4 6.5 inch bass drivers on each side. Thanks!

There is one issue however, my amp makes a hissing/background noise when listening via headphones? Would you know a fix?

Make sure all the tubes are FIRMLY seated. Even if new, after transportation firmly ensure the tubes are correctly seated in place.

Thanks, i live in New Zealand and i already sold the LM amp. I got now the Prologue HP, i am very happy. In the future i want to upgrade the tubes.
