What is the interest of having a preamp over an integrated amp? Does it make (that much of) a difference in terms of audio quality, dynamics, floor noise, etc? Also, what cable do you use to link them? Thanks
@@Speccy48k Yes, it makes a difference! I don't know how to descripe in English, but the sound is definitely more 'easy' and the noise floor just doesn't exist with the combo. You should find a dealer who is willing to demonstrate the two options!
@@paulb.3227 Thanks Paul 👍 Is it possible to pair à tube preamp to a tube amp or is it best to use solid state amp(s)? Also, I’ve noticed 2 EVO amps can be linked to form a pair of monoblocks. I wonder if this would be beneficial to sound (especially if a single amp is enough to drive speakers it is connected to)
@@Speccy48k I prefer tubes, but that's personel. It depends on the power you need for your speakers; if they are highly sensitive ( more than 90 Db) a tube poweramp does the job in a not too large room. My Prima Luna's deliver 44 watts per channel, and that's more than enough for my Harbeth HL 5 speakers. I never heard the EVO's as monoblock amps, but people say it is paradise ! A bit expensive though; you'll need 3 amps ! Good luck with your choice!
I just bought one of these from these guys and they were so great to deal with. Honest and damn straight forward and here in NY we appreciate that. They don't screw around and they won't screw you over. Todd was amazing.
Thank you for your discussion about these quality products - I'm no engineer, but I learned a lot. Ever since I heard an Audio Research + Klipsch system in the early '70s, I've been a fan of tube amps. Nice to know that there's an aspirational product that won't break the bank.
Man, you’re an excellent communicator, you really know how to put things straight and clear. PL really deserves these “open box”, no tricks, honest reviews - build quality at honest prices. I’m part of the clan, a proud owner of a pre+amp Prologue Premiums (kt88) - just love them
Have the EVO 200, through Martin Logan ESL’s . I cannot believe how much punch it has. I was expecting to run the volume at high settings, runs no where near it.
Hi, I currently own a used PrimaLuna DiaLogue Two. I am thinking about upgrading. I learned that the EVO 100 is the 3rd generation of my unit. IDK for an extra $1,000. If it's worth it. The EVO 200, is $1,600. more than my used unit. I am confident that the EVO 200 will be a better overall performer than my current model. But I'm wondering if the new EVO 100 will provide an 'appreciable difference' in sound performance Both the new EVO 100 & 200 come with an amazing headphone amp which my current model doesn't have & that costs money. Any thoughts regarding the costs of these products vs their Performances? Thanks!
For markets where “try at home” is virtually non-existent, it would be nice if there were some kind of suggestions concerning speakers that would make a good match...
Hi Kevin, Thanks for the amazing video. I wish I had your energy. I was wondering if the EVO 300 or 400 would work best with my PSB Imagine T2 Tower Speakers or if the speakers are just not good enough for either? Thanks
So what are the main differences between the Evo 300 and 400 beyond the power? I noticed the S/N ratio on the 300 is 86 db and on the 400 its 93 dB, I don't know if that's audible.
Hey there, I totally understand that there are higher quality components in the evo 300 and so it cost a bit more then the evo 200 but then to it gives two watts less then the 200. I mean it does not add a big difference but just was curious.
Hi Kevin. Thanks for all info. Im new in the Tube world, so I want to ask you about this amp i have - Bewitch 6550 Deluxe Edition 2018 hifi tube Integrated Amplifier Valve A50 KT88. I never try another amp, so i dont know if that`s good :-) Thanks for your videos on youtube
Kevin, I cannot stress this enough, you're the man. I could listen to you talk about primaluna all day.
I own the PrimaLuna EVO 300 pre and power combo.
Makes me a very happy audiophile !

The interlink is a John van Gent Reference Plus; small Dutch brand as good as Siltech Cables.
Pure silver cable: excellent !

The 300 also has a triode mode, the 200 does not and the 300 has also more upgraded internal components
How hot do these integrated amps get, and... no balanced XLR inputs?
Very honest & true review..(The best product in market with best price) I wish i had
