My Minion build: Army of dead, iron golem, reapers, ice mages, corpse tendrils, corpse explosion, bloodmist. Howl from below, mendeln, frost boots. Super fun! Corpse tendril spam, hold slam, corpse explosion, buff minions on CD. Spec into transfusion. Minions go harrrrd. 😂 BTW, to hell with shadow builds. Physical and frost all the way.

I remember approaching the game in this way at the beginning and my friends all looking at me like I was an oddity. "You're going to get tired of hitting walls with you free form build"... "you aren't running your build to its full potential".... "id rather the experts tell me how to best make my build than stress out over the paragon board and every item I come across". Nowadays, I'm still having fun and they're complaining almost every week. My argument at the time was making my own character, exploring and trying out new builds was my way of having fun with the game. Following someone else's build to the t was closer to a coloring book simulator, which I'm not a fan of.

Now we are running minion necro with 13 mobs and blood lance, paired with a marksman rogue. The minions tie up everything and she blasts them with targeted damage. We are having a blast so far. Except there's so, so, so many games out there which you can play this exact same way but they offer actual depth and well developed systems.
Your time would be better invested ignorantly leveling blindly and pushing through acts of Path of Exile. You will fail for probably 3-4 seasons straight, but eventually when you begin learning and progressing it will be rewarding... and the game itself will be worth the investment.
Expecting people to zombie brain this game to 'find fun' is a poor approach, because at the end of that road it's still a poorly developed game, with shallow systems. Even a zombie brain is going to eventually realize they're just rerolling one stat at exorbitant prices, and having zero fun.

My advice to everyone: slow down and enjoy the content as you encounter it naturally. I still watch youtube videos and even guides about the games I play (since then I get the experience the games even when I can't play them) but I don't go out of my way to copy them. When I'm playing the game my attention is totally on experiencing the game first-hand as it comes to me. In chasing the minmaxed build, people forgot how to have fun. When they are not getting the right items, they start feeling frustrated and the negative complaints start.
Just play the game and forget about all the minmaxing for a bit. Explore your own creative build ideas. Then maybe, they can start having fun again.

i did the exact same thing, DM. I would look up build guides, watch youtube vids on which build was cool and tried each one. last night i went on my lv89 rogue, deleted all my shit in the inventory, respec'd on both skill tree and paragon board. i took my lv51 season character, and i am currently running a setup based on the legendaries and affixes I have when i got the drop. so much more fun this way! played the story this way too and almost forgot about doing it when I reached tier 4 and started grinding dungeons for gear and the "best" build. it really destroyed the game for me, but playing how you are is a hell of a lot more fun. keep doing what your doing bro.

Maybe this is why I've thoroughly enjoyed all 150+ hrs I've spent as opposed to allegedly so many people. I plan my builds out, do some tweaking or full reworks, but all myself. I find what's fun and what I want to achieve and do it. Same with exploring and dungeons. I just set out and do something. Sometimes for the hell of it, sometimes with a purpose.
    Freaking love this game.

Yeah it’s like people beg for release, speed through the content with walkthroughs and guides, then complain it’s easy and short. When dlc?
And they do it again and again
Ive looked up one video about bg3 to see how it plays etc, and already I see guides pop up, how to play, best party selection, and all that stuff. These channels prey on people that are hyped for the new game when it comes out. And in the meantime spoil it for them. Best way to play bg3? Or any game for that matter. Go in blind!

    • @XBezerkerX
      @XBezerkerX Рік тому

@murray821 The key difference being that BG3 is a completely tailored experience, following a guide is almost impossible. Not to mention the game has RNG elements which means some things literally cannot be the same.
Not only that but BG3 has hundreds of hours of base content and 17000 permutations of gamestate so the replay factor is off the charts.
Diablo 4 has literally zero end game. There's nothing to do past level 60. Grinding NM dungeons for the sake of it isn't rewarding or engaging, it's just bad game design.

I just made a human druid build that mimics Crone through Earth Spike and Stormstrike, but instead of resetting bulwark, I'm pumping 75% lucky hit to reset the new creeper aspect. 100%, man. I was just telling my buddy this. At launch(and the start of this season) I was following maxroll guides and getting frustrated I wasn't getting certain rolls, I was going through the motions renown grinding, etc... but at one point on one of my alts I actually started listening to one of the quests, got interested and by the end I was like 'damn that was kind of a good story for side quest.' After that, I continued paying attention and enjoying myself/ignoring build guides and its been a really enjoyable experience. It's to the point where I feel like it's a shame people aren't taking their time to experience a lot of the touches that have been put on the world/story because of the current ARPG paradigm that people cant seem to get out of(and in most cases seem to want their cake and eat it too) - I love ARPGs(yes, including Path), but sometimes we just have to let a game be a game.
I feel like this is what started happening with MMOs after WoW; an MMO would come out, everyone would jump on it, rush to max level and then complain there wasn't enough content or the game wasn't as good as WoW because [xyz], forgetting that most of us didn't have build guides and quest markers and boss guides when WoW came out. We had to experience the game throughout a leveling journey and THAT is part of what made it great.
Anyway, love the content. Thanks for the positivity and keep it up!

That’s how I played the game when it launched with Druid. I threw together a build that used Crone staff, Temerity with Pulverize, Claw and Bulwark. The gear affixes were all over the place and the build still pushed almost to NM60 without a guide.
Then I played a Rogue following a guide to see how the pros out a build together which I modified to fit my play style and I am happy.
When the new patch hits I am moving on to Barbarian, no guides, going to base it off what I did back in the early access beta and run a dual basic build and stack guaranteed overpowered bursts. It doesn’t matter if overpower builds are weak or not, what matters more is if they are fun to play and I suspect it will be.

And so I payed atenttion to it, all the mecanichs and players, PvP and on the map (yeah... It all seems to confirm it's the obvious). But since I got to the WepMastry Death Blow, I just loved the animation and acction it brings to the fights, Whirlwind don't do it... Not for me at least, so I started just wondering about my lack of need for Fury... But so long, it has brought me a Nice experience, even thou it seems the best play is the other, the competitions are only on PvP, so it sucks ass Blizrd won't let play without PsPlus... Same! I tried this on Barb pre-season and hit a brick wall, but this was before I understood damage buckets and other stats. Now I've committed to a ranged Rogue, landed on RF/Rain of Arrows and it's been pretty fun. I'm starting to hit the boredom wall at 75, but I can promise I wouldn't have made it to level 30 following some TB meta guide. If this game was more intuitive for build experimentation and diversity, it would help a lot. Rogue is pretty okay for this it seems, but I can imagine something like off meta Sorc would be tough.

Build guides are made by humans like u and me. In season I play Necro. The meta necro build changed alot about weekly.
And I don't care. They focused on total armor and a armor (magic node buffing glyph).
IMHO I went less total armor and more movement speed, because I thought faster = more fun for me. And dieing I don't care.
Now the guide got changed and guess what movement speed is superior and they changed the glyph.
I get inspired by builds but I play my style and that is the only thing you should use build guides IMHO.
    Just have fun!

I started my Season 1 journey as a minion Necromancer. It was fun, but in World Tier 3 I felt it falling off and that something wasn't right. I can't really say what it was. Maybe the lack of exactly targeting enemies for my minions. But their damage and survivability also felt off. I tried changing skills and stuff around, but couldn't really alleviate my concerns.
Then I switched to a Corpse Tendrils + Explosions + Sever build and I am having fun. Now, I do look at guides from time to time. This is mostly just as a point of reference though and a little help with the Paragon Board. The build is still adjusted to what I have fun with.
I shortly switched to the pure Infinimist Necrobuild, didn't have fun with it, switched back to my current build and yep, having fun again.
Though I wish I could make a minion build work. But resetting Paragon Boards is a pain, which makes me less enthusiastic about experimenting,

The time we talked during sessions was the most pleasant thing that game offers me btw i started with the hunter class an he with the druid and i quitted a couple weeks ago around level 83. He asked if i would play the season and i only agreed with him by not spoiling anything and picking up new classes and develop our own builds and doing quests and stuff we find along the way. Great attitude to have! The competitive gaming is for the pros. ARPGs are meant to be a fun journey where you enjoy the gameplay for what it is. Far too many people want to skip the journey to rush to the end. You will see this in every game.
In POE, I level a character to red maps then move on to the next character if I’m enjoying the league.
In D4 season 1, I am playing a Necromancer main, but am playing around with all the other classes. I only played for two weeks before the season started, so I’m catching up learning the classes. I’m in no hurry, just enjoying the game mechanics.

I have never ever went online to read a build. When I played magic the gathering as a kid I never ever wanted to have the pro deck that someone built, when I played WoW while everyone was playing a frost mage I played a Fire mage because this is what I personally wanted to do. I never aimed to be competetive in games and I never tried to be the first at sometihing within a game, this is exactly why I had loads of fun with every single game I have played. Happy to hear you are doing the same :) I played the main story in Diablo IV, player a little bit more after it while it made sense to me and I stopped at level 48 since that was the last moment I felt like I did something meaningful in the game. I made a new character in the season and played a veeeery low amount of time because the main quest got repetetive and I did not have fun. If there is meaningful content in the future that is actually fun I will play again.

I have a 100 necro and a 60 barb from before seasons and now I have a 63 S1 Rogue with a jenky rapidfire build. None of my builds are min maxed and I have just had a great time. No its not a perfect game. Yes the end game is lacking, but leveling and killing monsters is FUN if you just let it be fun. Next I am going to play sorc and then probably a HC druid. But also, I will play BG3 and Armored Core and Starfield... games = fun. If you can't find a way to make D4 fun, then just move on to the next game. If you played it long enough to get to the end of the story and into the real end game, then you probably paid at max 2 bucks an hour to play. If you made it to lvl 75, 1 dollar and if you made it to lvl 100, 50 cents an hour 😀

When I first started Diablo 4 I knew what I wanted to do, which is vibe, have fun and not rush anything. The only try-hardy thing I've done so far is finding a build online that suited what I wanted for my character (Reaper/Sever Darkness, Blood, basically as edgy as possible). It's been fun despite sifting through many Legendary Aspects and figuring out which one I actually need. Except lately I don't actually want to read all that and give myself a headache, so I just throw them in a chest and decide if I'm doing a NM dungeon, maybe Whispers, Renown farm or just riding around in the PVP area creeping on players and tripping over dust as I run away if they move a pixel towards me. Most times, I just sit there and appreciate my Necromancer because she's beautiful.
I love myself so I decided how I wanted to have my fun with the game. So far it's been really good, and I look forward to finishing my shift knowing I've got plenty to do in the game while I listen to music and do my nails. Respect to the hardcore players and "try-hards", I wish I was like you but also I don't. After all it's your time and mental health you're using, not mine. Most importantly, at the end of the day, it's really not that deep
