This and the prior version are my OG Chef John Recipe. Have been using your recipes for years now and I absolutely love all of them! Thank you Chef John!
My Italian mother used to make this. Everything she made tasted delicious. This is the first time I've ever gotten close to making something she made taste this good. Thank you! I wish I had listened to her more often when she was cooking. Having the recipes just isn't enough but you made it look so easy. Even my husband said it tasted like my mothers lol Thank you again for sharing!
Chef John, We just tried this... outstanding! The family liked. Used all the ingredients just as you laid them out and it came out perfect. We're introducing this into the rotation. BTW... this is a QUICK recipe, so have your mouth ready!
You used the ingredients how he laid them out? Do you know nothing about cooking?!?! You're supposed to substitute everything and then complain that it sucks.
Right in the middle of eating this! My family loves it. I tweaked a few things to get my kids more into it. Za’atar and a squeeze of grilled lemon was amazing!
I made this last night. I pork chorizo in the freezer and figured that would be awesome. Bought a red bell pepper, poblano pepper, jalapeño peppers, potatoes and chicken thighs and put it together chef Jon way. It was awesome with chorizo! Wife wants it again tonight for dinner.
This could be a good series idea. Revamping older recipes to be “simpler” one pan versions for people looking for something a little quicker/easier/etc.
Absolutely. Great idea, Higgs. I know that I'm willing to try this version tonight, but the real pan version, I would only have time for a couple of nights a month.
THANK YOU for this recipe!!! I am currently without an oven and this is really appreciated because that previous recipe of yours is one of my favorites!!
Dear Chef Jon, I have enjoyed your recipes and presentations. Thank you for sharing. Earlier I watched your "Inside out Grilled Cheese Sandwiches" and Superb is an understatement. I took it one step further and made patty melts with this recipe, this evening for dinner. Tomorrow we try this current new recipe...I am typing so I can't read the name. You are the man and all others wish that they were as talented and cool as you, but they're not!!! Thank you!!! A. Smith
In the roasting pan I usually marinate them in a bit of wine, mustard & a touch of Worcestershire (plus evoo, salt & pepper, of course). I can't wait to try it this way. Thanks
I'd add about 4-6oz of freshly sliced mushrooms, some basil, parsley, oregano, tarragon, and with the broth or wine or water, a Tbs or three of tomato paste or sauce and, in my typical American overkill style, some shredded mozzarella.
Chef John, it is truly amazing that you always have more amazing stuff to share. You said in this video "this is truly one of my all time favorites" or something to that effect, and it makes me wonder.. having made thousands of these, did you just have this amazing recipe up your sleeve the whole time?
Will try this out. The original recipe might be my go-to meal. I've never received anything less than glowing praise when I make it for friends or family.
Can’t wait to make for me and my husband;Lord willing) thanks for sharing have a wonderful blessed day today in Christ Jesus our wonderful savior Jesus Christ bye love
The oven roasted one is one of my favorite things to make - I'm going to have to give this version a try. Seems like a friendlier version for a weeknight!
I've been making the roasted version of this for years now. I'm glad it's popular enough to have its own name! We'd been calling it the Chef John special!
Chef John, I took the liberty of looking up your made up word recipe name on Google Translate and it identified it as a word in the Chichewa language of the Bantu people of Africa. It means, "The rain".
I had all of these ingredients, just made this for the first time and it was absolutely bomb with some campanelle pasta which sucked in those juices perfectly. Thanks for this recipe!
This was just great. I have modified this slightly - I have added some powdered turmeric and fresh dill and it came out just sublime. Served this over basmati rice it was just simply delicious. Thank you Chef John. This will be on my dinner table quite often. Simple and delicious. I love you man you made my family very happy 😊 ❤
I've made the oven roasted version a couple of times now and it has become my favorite roast chicken dish. I will definitely do this version if say it's too hot to turn on the oven. Thanks as always.
I've never understood why all the food channels start with a sausage in the casing and then take it out of the casing. Do stores not sell bulk sausage meat where they live, or is that just a Midwestern thing? I can buy a pack of sausage meat the same way you can buy a pack of ground beef.
This became one of our favs after you posted it in '16 and I must confess, I have always done it in one pan, never bothered with the precook on the sausage, just decased them and tossed in some chunks. Worked great. Nice to see a stovetop version though.
YES! I love the original Chisaupepo, but it's always one of those "this feeds a small crowd and I am not a crowd....", this is perfect... and not just because I was literally in the process of figuring out dinner.
This and the prior version are my OG Chef John Recipe. Have been using your recipes for years now and I absolutely love all of them! Thank you Chef John!
OMG, the kids just destroyed this. Minimal prep, minimal cooking time, minimal cleanup. You're a MAD MAN!

Nice;)
@@jeffdean4386 I have to, I'm not that clever a cook. This is bachelor cooking...I can identify with that from the good old days!
Made it last night, and it was so good that I'm making it again tonight.
Chef John doesn’t miss. This recipe was bonkers good.
Right in the middle of eating this! My family loves it. I tweaked a few things to get my kids more into it. Za’atar and a squeeze of grilled lemon was amazing!

Definitely works for me.
Yes. Don't have to heat the oven in the summer. Kind of like the skillet lasagna recipes.
Absolutely. Great idea, Higgs. I know that I'm willing to try this version tonight, but the real pan version, I would only have time for a couple of nights a month.
THANK YOU for this recipe!!! I am currently without an oven and this is really appreciated because that previous recipe of yours is one of my favorites!!
I rubbed my chicken breast with homemade harissa and put them in about 15 mins after everything else. Came out perfect. 😊
This on fries is the best thing I´ve ever eaten, like ever...so good!
Thanks John, from Australia. I'm writing down the shopping list now. Great before it gets warmer over here.
Wonderful recipe! I would love more one-pan recipes! Thank you always for your videos
videos period.
... videos. 🤣
@@majoroldladyakamom6948 Thanks Mum.
Wonderful :)
Didn't have any chicken, but it works with just sausage just fine. Quick and easy dish - very nice. 🙂
Chef John, I make the original recipe of this all the time. This is inspired!! You always make my smile with JOY!! Cheers!
This is exactly the type of thing that I love the most….awesome soup is my favorite.
You do a fantastic job on both….and everything else.🍻
That is hands down the most epic recipe name ever. I will forever refer to this dish as Chisaupepo, to the confusion of my family.
I've just finished eating, and the recipe is abolutely stunning! Rather quick, minimal cleanup and delicious. 10/10, will cook again :)
I love the original recipe and now I'm so excited to try this new quicker version!
💖Hello 🤗💖
one of my favorite things is sitting down to watch a chef john recipe while eating another, hell yeah brudda
I love the OG version of this recipe too much but having the ability to cook a smaller batch in a pan is very welcome

*_Great dish! Raise your hand if you agree with me!_* 😋
Man, just the caramelized sauce in the bottom alone made my mouth water. This looks super simple and amazing.
potato on potato action---chef john, you are a man after my own heart!!
Was fooled into thinking "chisaupepo" was a Portuguese dish. Looking forward to trying this!
That is a perfect idea for hot summer days when using oven means death. I just love this!
True :)
absolutely precious ! we who live alone, love it !
In the roasting pan I usually marinate them in a bit of wine, mustard & a touch of Worcestershire (plus evoo, salt & pepper, of course). I can't wait to try it this way. Thanks
auto-correct always changes evoo to ebook. I guess it isn't smart enough to consider context...
I’ve made the original recipe about a thousand times over the years. So glad you put this up and o can’t wait to try it.
... and "o"... ? 😂
I like the emphasis on CHIsaupepo, as if there was any wonder what kind of saupepo we were making that night
Healthy and delicious Chicken, Sausage, Peppers, and Potatoes thanks for sharing
Wow. Can’t believe this channel is still going strong with the recipes! Impressive
I don't care if he started to remake all of his older videos. I'll still watch them.
@@kingpickle3712 for real
So glad I found this channel again. This recipe looks fantastic!
I'd dump in 2 scambled eggs and call this breakfast, with a toasted bagel and coffee.
That sounds outstanding.
I'd add about 4-6oz of freshly sliced mushrooms, some basil, parsley, oregano, tarragon, and with the broth or wine or water, a Tbs or three of tomato paste or sauce and, in my typical American overkill style, some shredded mozzarella.
Blah Blah Blah. Self-important 🤡
Me too, only probably 3-4 eggs or 2 eggs and 2 egg whites.

Brilliant comment!
Chef John is the King of One-Pan Dishes
of which kingdon
I disagree Jim...
I imagine chef John would say something like " *YOU* can be the king of one pan dishes if you subscribe to *food wishes* "
John is the, Prince of the Pan. ☺️

Just made this. Just because curious and happened to have all the ingredients at home. Great stuff, Chef John!
Will try this out. The original recipe might be my go-to meal. I've never received anything less than glowing praise when I make it for friends or family.
Thanks for the recipe chef. Chicken recipes are always welcome since times are tough.
Can’t wait to make for me and my husband;Lord willing) thanks for sharing have a wonderful blessed day today in Christ Jesus our wonderful savior Jesus Christ bye love
Making this as soon as I can. Which won't be long!
Thank you kindly
Love me a good one-pan meal! Deep dark sear color = Flavor!
This looks sooo deliscious! 😋😋 We'll definately be giving this a go! 😉😊👍
Making the original tomorrow night. Looks amazing.
Making me hungry! Also... it has to be ChisauPEpo. Definitely a 3rd syllable dish
I'd want to have this next to something bright, fresh, cold, & crunchy. Like a nice homemade vinegar cole slaw or something to that effect.
You are missed very much chef.. just hearing you saying "helloo this is chef John" I immediately smile..
helloo this is chef John
I'm gonna try this with balsamic vinegar instead of lemon...will also probably use less chicken and more potato/peppers, but I love the concept.
The oven roasted one is one of my favorite things to make - I'm going to have to give this version a try. Seems like a friendlier version for a weeknight!
Hi Chef, love your recipes. I watch you and Chef Jean-Pierre. I have learned a lot.
I'm gonna have to adapt this to my new blackstone griddle. Looks fantastic!
You wolfed that down, Chef John!
That is great thank you.
Truly one of my favorite recipes for the week
I love this recipe. Thank you for reminding me of what I want to serve with my sourdough baguette I’m working on.
I love the original recipe and I can’t wait to make this version :)
do you want to make a version together pretty lady?
Oooh. My family loved this the first time I cooked it. I'll be glad to give this a try next week.
That looks so good!!

Listen to audio at 3:50 mark. It sounds like rain! 😳
Looks delicious, just my kind of dinner. Thanks for sharing. Stay well and safe.
In Argentina, I use (Spanish) Chorizo instead of (Italian) Sausage.
So I will have Chichopepo (English) or Pochopipa (Argentinean).
Looks awesome Chef, adding this to weekend plans!
Your the man Chef !!! Thanks !
I just wish I had a bigger pan!
Incredibly Easy And Delicious! Definitely gonna give it a try ❤️
Don't forget the onions!: Chisaupepon! Chisaupepoon? Makes some, soon!
Ohhhhh that is making me hungry!
Think I'll do this over the weekend with some chorizo!
Bravo Chef John! One of my all time favorites! Now with the ease of a single pan to clean up.
I had all of these ingredients, just made this for the first time and it was absolutely bomb with some campanelle pasta which sucked in those juices perfectly. Thanks for this recipe!

Nice! I wonder if this would make a good autumn recipe. I think the usual Italian sausage spices would play pretty well with sweet potato!
Oooooooh! Yessssss!
You are after all the Sandra Oh of your Chisaupepo.
Apparently I can live the rest of my life making only one-pan meals. Less dishwashing and still fab fresh food!!
That is definitely a winner. Too mush salt but still a winner! !! !!!
..this lQQks so good...i went out and got the Italian sausage and gonna make it tonite ^^
Hi.. which sausage did u buy like the name brand?
That looks delicious! Can't wait to try it!
Thanks!!
YES! I love the original Chisaupepo, but it's always one of those "this feeds a small crowd and I am not a crowd....", this is perfect... and not just because I was literally in the process of figuring out dinner.
I used zucchini instead of potatoes, also some broccoli, keto friendly. Really good.
Where can I find the original version?

“If times are tough use a splash of water” it made me tickle a bit! ☺️
Love the name! 😂❤
"Chi-sau-PEP-o" gets my vote as to where to put the accent.
Good timing! 😊👍
Potatoes served over potatoes, I'm in.
I am DEFINITELY making this for dinner tonight
