This dish definitely needs a name, and I feel like it should be up to you to make one, Chef John. You are, after all, the natural mystic of coming up with catchy linguistics.
I watched this several times yesterday and just had to make it last night. I have to say this is excellent. My wife and daughter couldn't rave about it enough. My wife, a great cook herself, took a few bites and told me I was a better cook than her--the ultimate compliment. I did everything you did, except I used sweet potatoes. I also used hot Italian sausage, because I like things a bit spicy. Everything turned out delicious. I have done many of your recipes and always love them. However, this one has to be the best I've done so far. It will be a regular around our house.
nothing more satisfying than watching you make delicious things, and then reminding us that you did SCARF it down, like a normal person. making real food.
I love to make a Spanish recipe that's pretty similar to this. It uses chicken, chorizo, potatoes, peppers and whole unpeeled garlic cloves marinated in a lemon and thyme sauce and then baked in the oven. Thanks for another great video!
OH MY GOD that looks amazing Chef John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You really should run for president and make your platform AWESOME FOOD!! That would bring this country together!!!!
i may sound like a simpleton for commenting on this particular recipe when I have abstained (most) of the time otherwise - I will say that this meal is perhaps one of the more alluring ones that I've witnessed you conduct in a while - Chef John!
I'm SOOOOO happy I was watching this while eating my delicious Italian peppers and pasta 😋. Finally eating something great while watching Chef John and not totally hating my life.
I cooked it yesterday, unfortunately the store didnt have italian sausages so i took some merguez which worked perfectly, too. I added some garlic and made a joghurt dip to balance out the spicyness. it was sooooo crispy delicious and fast/easy to make. Thank you Chef John. :)
I just made 3 whole roasted chickens and mashed potatoes for lunch today and we have all those ingredients in the fridge - should've watched it first! I'll try this for sure.
I've been doing this with spicy Italian sausages for years. I only call it Italian Chicken Bake but now It's Chef John's Chicken Bake! You're right... the better the fresh sausages the better the dish. If you can get the kind that is only pork and spices; no cereal, you'll thank me and Chef John later...
This looks great! And to tell the truth, it's even more of a stunner in that baking pan then in the actual plate. Note to self: stop watching these videos at night!!
Well, I love roasted potato, Italian sausage ( hot) peppers and onions, to put it all together with some pan roasted chicken, all you have to do is pour a Sam Adams into a glass or not and eat! For this single old guy, Dinner and then lunch for several days, for not a lot of money in these poor job market times!
George Semel ...and it's not just the money.. It's hard to cook for one. This is just the sort of thing I can be bothered with when I'm on my own. Lots of quick and interesting ways to use the leftovers, too, not necessarily having the same thing over again.
Was hungry and had no ingredients so I just boiled some spaghetti and cut up a chicken breast and made a stir fry. Had no vegetables. All I did was throw some sugar, salt, pepper, lemon, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, worchtershire sauce, Sriracha, and the last few drops from the bottom of my bottle of sesame oil. It was surprisingly delicious considering it had almost none of the ingredients I wanted. Just goes to show how you inspire me to use what I have to make something great
One of my favorite Roaster Pan dinners......and, the leftovers (if there are any) are good for an impromptu chicken/sausage/potato salad, hot or cold....oy!
This is in the oven for a Very late lunch... went with sweet Italian sausage because that is all the store close to me had. :( I seasoned everything with Italian seasoning, garlic and pepper and salt (on chicken only). It smells amazing in the house and I am crossing my fingers the husband likes it! Thank you for this easy meal!
Do you think the drippings would make a good gravy? Or is it better served as-is? I'm definitely planning to make this up sometime soon, but I'm not sure if I want to try making more of a gravy rather than a sauce.
Now that is a "stick to the ribs" kind of meal, meant for this time of year. Served up with thick toasted garlic sour dough bread and an Italian dry red Chianti. Prefer Ruffino, it's the best. Its a keeper Chef John.
I'm thinking that the left overs would be AWESOME served hot on a sub roll. Shred the chicken, pile it all on there -- including the potatoes -- and add some grated parm (not from a can) and mozzarella.
So partially cook some sausages then cut them up and score some chicken parts and cut up vegetables and mix everything up with oil and seasonings and cook it all in a roasting pan with the chicken parts skin side up and that's it. Did I get it?
This looks like a great fall dish amalallalgmmaalhahhahhaaaaaaa. don't try to say that i had someone ask wtf when i did say it lol but i think it fits well with this recipe

Wondering how many people know what "vittles" are.
Food Wishes We are all nodding and smiling.
Food Wishes Vittle wishes! 😄
I first encountered the word in The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the GameBoy.
Food Wishes I believe the term was popularized by Granny, as she cooked by the cement pond.

Chef John. You rock. I became addicted to your channel a month ago, and now have my wife hooked. This is going down for dinner tomorrow night.
Still needed like 6-8 whole garlic cloves. And crushed red pepper!
SPOILER750 ..or just plonk a whole bulb of garlic in there cut crossways, and squeeze it out when it's roasted. Good call.
This dish is simple, rustic and elegant... Well done Chef!! Thank u for this beautiful dish
Looks so yummy. I'm considering making this for Thanksgiving and saving myself a lot of grief.
That pan was begging to be attacked with some crusty bread.
Thanks for the Chicken, Sausage, Peppers & Potatoes recipe! Now I know how to make Chicken, Sausage, Peppers & Potatoes! :)
I just made 3 whole roasted chickens and mashed potatoes for lunch today and we have all those ingredients in the fridge - should've watched it first! I'll try this for sure.

Wow, I am one of the first twenty three thousand people to watch this! It pays to watch on the first day!
You are the method man of your method, man.
Love the awesome humor like this! Of course, the food is always looking tasty!
"I want you to get in there and get in there deep." Chef John never holds back 😂😂😊
Wow now that looks really good ! The chicken sausage looked amazing.
Oh my!! It's 1:30 am and I am now craving this!!! Definitely making this soon!
I'm thinking of trading in a traditional turkey dinner with this for Christmas. You're like a genius.
Made this today and it was absolutely delicious!
Was hungry and had no ingredients so I just boiled some spaghetti and cut up a chicken breast and made a stir fry. Had no vegetables. This how our family butcher recommends to cook his famous sausage, with out the chicken. Looks amazing!
One of my favorite Roaster Pan dinners......and, the leftovers (if there are any) are good for an impromptu chicken/sausage/potato salad, hot or cold....oy!

Good lord this looks so good. Chef John I need a way to change up Brussels sprouts!!
This combination of foods is great when prepared a ton of ways. It's good slowcooked, pressure cooked, and stewed as well as roasted.
Really great idea. I've made similar things before but I think the sausage and potatoes make this an easy meal.
chef john is my spirit animal
"Scarfed that down" LOL I have not heard the "scarf" phrase for quite a while! This looks fantastic and it is on my to-do list.
I am salivating right now. I need to make this!
Chef john, you must be the god of comfort food!
Made this tonight. Used too large of a roasting pan so the bottom surfaces got charred, but it was still delicious.
Thanks for the recipe👍🏻my family loved it
You are the boss of your pan dripping sauce!
WoW...! Chef you for sure got MY juices a flowing ....That is Beautiful! :)
When you're done plating everything, pour the leftover drippings into a frying pan and add cubed stale bread to make the ultimate croutons!
I just had dinner, but I could eat some of that right now. Yum!!!
aFREAKINmazing!! I'm soooo making this for dinner tomorrow!
Looks sooo good!
Do you think the drippings would make a good gravy? Or is it better served as-is? I'm definitely planning to make this up sometime soon, but I'm not sure if I want to try making more of a gravy rather than a sauce.
Even without an exciting name, that still looks delicious
Just like Mom used to make! No seriously, my Mother used to make a very similar dish, and it was always a family favorite.
I will 100%, definitely be trying soon. Very soon!
Annnnnnnd now I'm hungry.
the slashing method is called scoring, and is used to help regulate the heat and allow marinade to penetrate more deeply
Actually "scoring" is what happens after you make this. #rimshot
+Food Wishes I love you!
oh, thank you! Wow, I've never actually had someone reply to my comments!
Scoring is more superficial.
That was both a terrible and great joke.
Ahh this look so yummy! I wish I had people to cook for, so I could make this!
Geez that looks amazing! I'm making this ASAP!
would you recommend additional veggies such as mushrooms, or zucchini? or will it be too "watery".
love ur videos. thanks for doing them.
This is really one of the most delicious things I've ever made.
Now that is a "stick to the ribs" kind of meal, meant for this time of year. Served up with thick toasted garlic sour dough bread and an Italian dry red Chianti. Prefer Ruffino, it's the best. Its a keeper Chef John.
Definitely will try this out. I may go half on the ingredients though, it looks like a lot of food for two people.
Headed to the store now. Cooking tonight
nice recipe chef, i will try it for sure, thanks
I'm thinking that the left overs would be AWESOME served hot on a sub roll. Shred the chicken, pile it all on there -- including the potatoes -- and add some grated parm (not from a can) and mozzarella.
Another culinary masterpiece
I might try this tomorrow... I have som chicken thighs in the fridge that needs to be used soon anyway and that looks really REALLY good.
What a redundant title from the great chef, that doubtlessly open our quest...
My God! That looks delicious!
Something that goes very well in this dish are apples. Mmmmmmm
That looks good! Toaster oven version might be coming soon!
Love your recipe and your silver Laguiole.
I would toss in some whole peeled garlic cloves, and that's perfection right there.
Nice job Chef Jon. I'm thinking this would work well in a slow cooker also.
Wow, what a treat. The first ever 2 puns in 1 episode.
I am a subbie.... Dinner tomorrow it's a must! Thank you so much for sharing.
Making this tomorrow- thanks for the idea!
Damn that looks so good.
Looks yummy - I'm going to try it and add a few carrots as well.
Loved it.. The John Quattro Roast
So simple but looks so delicous omg
What type of wood is your cutting board made of?, looks great
