This brings me back to a modular Stream asset for SimCity 4. They were single tile pieces with straights and corners so you could make small ploppable rivers. Completely aesthetic of course, but still. Can't believe how far city simulation gaming has come since Cities XL and then Cities Skylines came out.
This made making nature areas so much easier. Small rivers are so hard to make so this is a very welcome addition to the workshop. Thanks McWelshman for making this, Thanks PugGaming for the tutorial and thank you Paradox for another helpful video.
Looks really great. I have struggled so much with making rivers and creeks and I’ll be subscribing to this mod! Making what you British guys called an “ox bow lake” is a great idea. In Australia this is called a *billabong* (derived from an Aboriginal language). Yours didn’t look very realistic. You need a very slow windy river (which is hard in CS) that bends back on itself until it actually touches so that the bend gets separated as an isolated pond.
Agreed James, I studied many ow box lakes and to achieve this was very tough, if I had more time I would of got it more realistic, but it was purely to inspire players :)
I found that if you are using extra landscaping tools, you can make a big hole in the ground, add the water source at the right level, then go back to the terraforming tool and ctrl z it to restore the terrain and the water source will essentially only be in the river network.
You could make a multiplayer mold, on one side of the map a city and on the other side another city (north south), connected by a highway, please, seriously the icing on the cake.
There's another "river tool" mod on the workshop that makes the initial landscaping much easier than the slope tool. It's also a network that cuts a channel. But it can be set to zero depth to just flatten terrain. I see the two tools working beautifully together. The other one will flatten the basin and create a smooth, even slope. Then this one will cut the channel and make it look decent. A perfect pairing.
This would be great for the project I've been thinking about doing, but probably never will do because I can't find the patience or motivation to do so.
It's a shame that it doesn't show up outside of purchased tiles and in the editor. It took me ages in the editor to realise the water was there but not showing. You can't really use it to design a map because it vanishes outside the unlocked area.
That looks gorgeous. It's crazy the things people are making in this game. Definitely need some of these in my countryside 💅

Let your river worries wash away with some good river networks!
Not on console... Please add some mods as features or paid DLC
Does this add to network count
Xbox should have map making!!!!!!!!!
CS2 please
we need waterfalls!!
One of the best created mods. For tiny rivers. I removed a few assets just to keep this one.
Game changer indeed, brilliant assets 👍😁

Where have you been my whole life. This was super helpful
I watched bonbonbs tutorial first which was much easier to follow but hearing macwelshman here made the video worth it great mod

Really is a game changer 👍
awesome tutorial thanks my dudes
Awesome video! Thanks!!!
Looks realistique!!!
MODS are both awesome and saddening ... I love the options they provide, saddened because the only gaming machine I have now is a PS4

Then don't mention it 👍🏼
Is the ferry routing compatible with this?
Looks great, but I am still struggling to get the slope right as it keeps flooding :(
Little Moreton Hall! I have a friend who lives very near there
"Creating rivers with landscaping tools is really hard" true but you still have to landscape with those networks..

Can this be used in the map editor?
i always over flow my city when i try to put a dam down
Are all the requirements actually required?
Depends. Usually, if they're not required but cosmetic only, it usually says so.
Is this guy a story teller from a "Stanley Parable"???
Vcs vão fazer um modo multiplayer
Not very _smooth,_ if the tutorial video is in 10fps :P
i am a indian player who lived in the uk
