    Wow fair play to you lads for sticking that weather out a lot of people would have bailed in those conditions 👍 the winds were insane. We have the Abisko lite 2 and it’s a great tent. Good job you had the 2nd pole its something we need to get. Take care mate

    Seriously contemplating the Abisko Lite 1 for snow free high wind adventures. Double poled of course. I do wish you could double pole it with 2x10mm poles tho,like can be done with the Akto. I was watching the video by Bushman and blue where the winds were supposedly above 80mph and nothing ripped surprisingly,but the poles did bend or break, can't remember.

      Hey Bima, thanks for stopping by mate 👍 Welcome to the channel. It's a very strong tent with the double pole, and it takes an absolute battering by prolonged heavy rain well. Quick to pitch too. My only issue is for a 6ft 3 bloke It's just a bit too small. I've got the nallo 2 now with custom double guy lines all over it. Hoping to get out in it soon and do some filming. I've been off the radar recently but hoping to get back online soon.

    Hello Bob. The double pole camping tent will certainly be more resistant. Strong winds out there. The shape of the mountains channels the wind very quickly.
    Be careful with that fire system that you have It expands the flame a lot. Greetings from Switzerland and keep making videos. All the best 👍

    • @HikerBobOfficial
      @HikerBobOfficial  Рік тому

      Hey, danke fürs Vorbeischauen!
      Luckily, by design, the x-boil system has 3 graphite pads that absorb the ethanol, so if it fell over, it would reduce the risk, but a good tip to watch out 👍
      What stove do you use?
      See you on the next one 👊⛰️

      @@HikerBobOfficial Hi Bob.I use more gas and the Primus brand.
      It has 3 variants: green, red and brown for the different types of seasons.
      So far I have been doing very well with the gas and without any problems.
      I try not to cook inside the camping tent unless I have no other option because a mistake and you can have a good party.
      I always use a metal screen that prevents air from blowing out or spreading the flame.
      First for safety and second for energy efficiency.
      In my case I would use the petrol fuel system if I had temperatures below -30.
      But there are two brands that I like for the fuel system and they are MSR and Primus.
      Cheers 👍

    If you're on Grasmoor and Keswick is to the East, the pointy Hill on the left must be Hopegill Head across to Crag Hill. Bit windy for my liking. Good effort.

      I am curious if any normal tents even decent quality ones would survive conditions like this. Really. I bet only hilleberg, fjallraven, a few north face, and very few others could actually survive days of 40-60 mph winds.

    Some times it's good to give your equipment a good battering then you know you can trust it.personally I'd have pitched with the door on the other side then the vestibule could give a bit of protection.that was rannerdale knots that was by crummock water.i think the lakes are better but everyone as their own favourite places

    Those kind of tents are not up to high winds, there is just too large unsupported areas of fabric. Flapping eventually loosens storm lines and it will make seams leak and softens the fabric.
    In geodesic dome tent which has multiple pole crossings that kind of wind is barely noticeable. Tent is solid and it is also quite quiet inside.
    If you want to use tunnel tent having more poles helps and it also increases amount of storm lines. I have a 4 pole tunnel tent which has 24 storm lines or attachment points to the ground. It also has wide snow skirts all around it

    • @HikerBobOfficial
      @HikerBobOfficial  9 місяців тому

      Hey Bekanav! Welcome to my channel 👍 I would have to disagree on that one unfortunately! The double poled abisko is extremely robust! I've owned a hilleberg allak 2 and that was noisy too.

    • @bekanav
      @bekanav 9 місяців тому

      @@HikerBobOfficial 👍It's ok to disagree and it is all about what you need and prefer. To my eye both of those tents just move too much and are also too small. Ok, Nallo 3 isn't that small but it has silly door and vestibule.
      I only do winter hikes and I've used Nammatj 3GT, Saivo 3 and now I have Keron 3GT type tent. Saivo is of course by far the strongest but my four pole tunnel is also quite strong. It is more stable and quieter than Nammatj and it has more usable space than almost any hiking tent. It is very simple to pitch. Last winter one night had 15-18m/s wind and it was no problem at all, I even could sleep without ear plugs. I think double poles aren't needed before wind is clearly over 20m/s.
