Presenting to you a small compilation of videos & photos that I clicked during my visit to the last remaining 2'6" narrow gauge network of Raipur division in chhattisgarh. The network presently stretches from Kendri to Dhamtari & Rajim. Abhanpur serves as a junction station from where the lines to Dhamtari & Rajim bifurcate.
The Raipur-Dhamtari branch line was the first narrow gauge line of Bengal-Nagpur Railway (BNR) network and was established in 1900. The railway route was conceived in 1871 during the British rule to connect Raipur to Nagpur & the first train in Raipur-Kurud NG railway track ran on September 10, 1900. However, 4 railway stations, Raipur, Telibandha, Mana & Bhatgaon were closed down to pave way for the construction of a 22-km expressway between Raipur & Kendri.
Some important information from this compilation:-
