I think you mentioned wishing that Metamorpho had his shape shifting hand accessories, like the mace ball and axe hand. Would have been super easy snap on pieces. But, hey, I've got an idea that I wanted to share with you. One, 1997's Kenner Bane figure, the gauntlet and blade weapon that goes over his hand, maybe that would slide onto Metamorpho. Makes no sense on Bane anyway. Secondly, the Funko DC Primal Age line, saw off one of the mace ball hands on Superman, Bizzaro, or Lex. Drill an opening for Metamorpho to slide his hand into it. You could lightly sand these pieces with fine sand paper and then match the paint colors at your local hobby store, acrylic paint. Although the silver colors wouldn't be so bad, the pieces are originally silver.
@@NuJazzCrooner I'm sure either of those options would work well! Could also take some of the pieces from the 90s Toy Biz Carnage and paint them. Lots of ways to customize Metamorpho. I can't wait until someone puts pants on him...
Agreed about all your criticisms, but this looks like another strong wave overall. Metamorpho should be a bit larger, so I am here for that welcomed size variation. I don’t think they would use that head for a Luthor though, they may reuse body bucks, but they have been making new heads sculpts for all figures, minus repaints. Guy is my fave GL so, he is hands down my top pick. Followed by Booster and Metamorpho - since I am a HUGE JLI guy.

It does suck that we didnt get skeets or a lantern for Guy. The dark knight returns figure should have been a big figure not a repaint. Very happy for you guys on your 1,000 im sure thats just the start

I agree Blue Beetle and Booster Gold would look better with clear goggles, that is the reason I didn’t pick up the 7 inch 2-pack, but at this scale it’s forgivable. I’ve preordered Black Manta, Booster and Guy, but this wave really showcases how we need more accessories; Booster without Skeets, Guy without lantern, some kind of arm and leg extensions for Metamorpho.
100%. Some other attachable accessories for Lanterns so you can make some constructs like it’s coming from their rings would be fun too. Like the old Carnage Toy Biz figure (similar to what you’re describing for Metamorpho).

Get us s as preview of the next wave of Super Powers and that Superman figure with the classic body to follow along the lines of that sweet Batman retro mold that is the best figure so far. I’m buying 10 Superman figs if they do that mold. Hopefully we’ll get a Martian Manhunter and other figures with the classic body sculpts. Fingers crossed.😊❤
Good call Chris hitting that Superman with a BS. They could do small things like a new head, new belt, etc. And make these repaints a little more legit and still save money with some reused parts.
Nice to hear that some of the older waves are showing up at WalMart. My area didn't get either wave with the WalMart exclusives Black Manta or Reverse Flash. The biggest problem with what we DID get is like 4 Batman figures to one of each of the rest of the wave. I will never figure out McFarlane's obsession with Batman. I know Batman is a big seller, but they have so many characters that aren't getting a single figure because we get a billion Batman...
Haha yeah, so many Batmen and Supermen! I get the repaints. Batman and Superman sell and pay the bills to keep the line alive. Fun to joke, but it makes business sense, and we don’t really get mad at it. And some have been awesome repaints. Some…not so much lol. I would think Solomon Grundy would be bigger, like possibly Kilowog size.
I don't think any of my Walmarts around here in this metroplex area even got any of the waves between the one with the first Nightwing and the Lord Superman wave.
I forgot Black Manta was a hard find as my local Walmarts are infested with them. This was a great wave and excited to see who Metamorpho is repainted into.
I really like this wave 8 of DC Mcfarlane figures. I recently went into Gamestop in Central Ave, and I saw these figures. I really like them all, but the one I love the most is Black Manta in his black suit. I haven't gotten any of the figures yet, but in the fall, I might collect some of the figures from the different waves. Including figures like : Black Manta ( black suit version ), Darkseid, Brainiac, and Aquaman.

I can make a better judgement call when I get them in hand personally, but I think Booster takes it for this one. Just needs Skeets to be perfect!
I preordered Guy, Metamorpho and Booster Gold (I never do repaints, in any toyline, ever), and i'm pleasantly surprised to see how big Metamorpho is gonna be, it adds variety to the line

Although this line isn’t for everyone ( I may be misremembering but I think Todd said he doesn’t get it but if people like ‘em he’ll keep ‘em coming) but those of us who like them keep supporting the line so it’s nice to find like minded reviewers. I was on the fence about supes until I saw him in person and the deco really does pop. My only minor complaint is that the red from the cape seems to have slightly stained the shoulders on mine. Don’t know if this is common or not. Looking forward to your reviews of upcoming waves
Thanks! Yes, the staining from the capes is very common. Several of my figures have that issue, and we’ve seen it mentioned several times on fan pages. Unfortunate!

I can't wait to get Booster Gold, Metamorpho, and Guy Gardner. I often think that if the old Kenner Super Powers line would've made it into 1987-88, these guys would've been great additions into a perceived wave 4 or 5 back then.
@@merylpye246 A new Swamp Thing would be nice. Apparently, Swamp Thing was slated to be released before the Kenner line ended. They did bring out the Swamp Thing line in 1991, which fit into the Super Powers line.
I’d give the wave a good also. I think I have everyone except the wal-mart exclusives, excited to get the black manta and could pass on the repaint Batman and Superman.
The repaints?! Come on, my man. At least complain about it like any toy collector should...and is almost required to. The only thing that could sink this line is the repaints. Looking on the back of the card, it gets awfully hard to defend. Jump the price up $1 and start making some new heads, capes, paint apps/tampos.
Haha Guy was borderline So Good, but the lack of lantern and the fact that he’s neither of our favorite Lantern member pushed him down a bit for us. Definitely wouldn’t disagree with anyone who rated him higher though! He’s very good.

I am so happy to have Blue Beetle and the Bug, with Booster Gold on the way. As a JLI fan, bwahahaha, having Guy Gardner GL to boot is a big plus. Again, thanks to this channel for the timely heads up for Wave 8 going on presale so I could get my favs, especially one of my favorite DC villains . . . Black Manta. Speaking of DC villains, we need MORE in this particular toy line!!! Rock on guys!
JLI huge fan here also! I am loving to see the Super Powers JLI grow up: Beetle, Booster, Guy, Metamorpho, Wally West Flash plus OG's Martian Manhunter, Mister Miracle, Doctor Fate, Captain Marvel and even Orion ( who was in the team for like 15 minutes )!
The highlights of this wave are definitely Booster and Metamorpho. Guy looks good too, I'm just not a fan of the character. I personally prefer the colourful Manta, but this black one also looks great. That Superman and Batman though.....they're pretty bad, if I'm being honest. I'd say 5 out of 5 for Booster and Metamorpho, 4 - Guy and Manta, 1 - Superman and Bats.
That’s a fair assessment. I will say the Superman and Batman are better in person than video or pics show, but they are certainly the weakest of the wave. Had higher hopes for those versions of the characters.
I was on vacation this past week, so this was a great video to come home to! Dark Knight Returns Batman is a bit of a let down, honestly; I'll definitely need to get back to working on my custom. I already preordered Guy and Booster, but you guys have me tempted to pick up Metamorpho, even if he is a bit on the tall side! Keep the great content coming, guys!
Congrats for the growing channel from a brazilian follower! I pre-ordered Guy, Booster and Metamorpho only ( and they look very cool! ), as I’m not too fond of repaints - the only thing some of them serve for me is to fill up the ( old and new ) line vehicles. In fact, the only one I am missing is the Blue Detective Batman to fill my old Batmobile...I see people complaining they can’t get Blue Manta or Reverse Flash, but that Blue Bats is pretty hard also ( if anyone sees one, let me know! ). Keep it up, guys, love your excitement over the line!

It's a great wave - love every single new figure. I will say again though - I personally don't like the different shades of green on the Lanterns - and for me the colour on John Stewart is far better than the green they've used on the rest... so I'd actually prefer Hal, Kilowog and Guy get repainted! 😂 Also - Metamorpho is a favourite of mine - Ramona Fradon is one of my favourite artists (her artwork would have been better on the card art) and loved the Batman and the Outsiders comic as a kid! Great giveaway too... sadly as a UK resident I can't enter... gutted as these figures are like rocking horse💩 over here!!!
Haha well, I’m sure McFarlane Toys would have no problem doing that! Honestly prefer his shade of green also, but the others don’t bother us at all. They all look great!

People have started finding them at more Walmarts. Had a comment earlier that their Walmart was full of Wave 4 Manta (don’t know if true). This Black Manta in wave 8 should be much easier to track down. And if he was repainted and rereleased, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a new Reverse Flash release, maybe as Zoom or in a multipack.
Is Etrigan really that big.?? I think not..!! But sure would like to see an Etrigan, The Demon figure in our SP line.!! Even a Jason Blood would be VERY welcome..!! Clark would have someone to talk to.... (LOL.!!)
Yeah, not all the characters are going to strike the same chords for everyone’s tastes. But I think some Yellow Lantern repaints for some of the figures would satisfy quite a few people!
Maybe they should have a red lantern variant of him. Of course the company would totally have to change the head sculpt for the completely different hairstyle.
i was going to ask , did the Toddfather send them to you because of your promoting the line, when motu orgins was coming out for the last couple of years, i heard that some waves weren't in the u.s. yet but were in south america? or somewhere not america, so they were getting advanced waves, while in the u.s, we were still on old waves still hanging on pegs

I saw how on eBay that a lot of figures are out, but they are asking $150.00 dollars for a $9.99 figure how can I get figures without paying way more than what it cost. Especially the Brainiac with Figure and his Skull Ship I paid way too much.
Yeah, eBay sellers are nuts sometimes with those prices. I’ve seen some people having good success with AliExpress at much more reasonable prices. Just be careful and make sure sellers are legit. And don’t expect perfect packaging when it arrives. You can also join some Super Powers Facebook or Instagram groups and see if people are selling or trading any of their figures.
I want my Superman and Batman, I wish they would release in the damn stores. Is it gonna be Walmart and target? I already have and have ordered everything else and getting the trinity 3 pack from my friend so I need these two to be complete

Literally shocking how bad the card art for Metamorpho is. Some of the character pictures have been huge misses in this line, which is a shame for MOC collectors. The effort and care going into those card art choices seems to be very minimal. But despite that, a very solid looking wave of figures.
A Super Powers style DKR Batmobile/ BatTank could be really cool, and gives Todd a good excuse to do more batman vehicles. also gives a good excuse to do a proper Joker in the white suit from that story.

Metamorpho buck could be used for a parasite. He is a bigger character but not like darkseid big. Also give me a mongul maybe using darkseid parts

Although this line isn’t for everyone ( I may be misremembering but I think Todd said he doesn’t get it but if people like ‘em he’ll keep ‘em coming) but those of us who like them keep supporting the line so it’s nice to find like minded reviewers. I was on the fence about supes until I saw him in person and the deco really does pop. My only minor complaint is that the red from the cape seems to have slightly stained the shoulders on mine. Don’t know if this is common or not. Looking forward to your reviews of upcoming waves
Thanks! Yes, the staining from the capes is very common. Several of my figures have that issue, and we’ve seen it mentioned several times on fan pages. Unfortunate!

I can't wait to get Booster Gold, Metamorpho, and Guy Gardner. I often think that if the old Kenner Super Powers line would've made it into 1987-88, these guys would've been great additions into a perceived wave 4 or 5 back then.

@@merylpye246 A new Swamp Thing would be nice. Apparently, Swamp Thing was slated to be released before the Kenner line ended. They did bring out the Swamp Thing line in 1991, which fit into the Super Powers line.
I’d give the wave a good also. I think I have everyone except the wal-mart exclusives, excited to get the black manta and could pass on the repaint Batman and Superman.
Keep checking those Walmarts! People are saying they’re finding Manta and Reverse Flash at various ones throughout the U.S.

The repaints?! Come on, my man. At least complain about it like any toy collector should...and is almost required to.
The only thing that could sink this line is the repaints. Looking on the back of the card, it gets awfully hard to defend. Jump the price up $1 and start making some new heads, capes, paint apps/tampos.

Haha Guy was borderline So Good, but the lack of lantern and the fact that he’s neither of our favorite Lantern member pushed him down a bit for us. Definitely wouldn’t disagree with anyone who rated him higher though! He’s very good.

I am so happy to have Blue Beetle and the Bug, with Booster Gold on the way. As a JLI fan, bwahahaha, having Guy Gardner GL to boot is a big plus. Again, thanks to this channel for the timely heads up for Wave 8 going on presale so I could get my favs, especially one of my favorite DC villains . . . Black Manta. Speaking of DC villains, we need MORE in this particular toy line!!! Rock on guys!

The highlights of this wave are definitely Booster and Metamorpho. Guy looks good too, I'm just not a fan of the character. I personally prefer the colourful Manta, but this black one also looks great. That Superman and Batman though.....they're pretty bad, if I'm being honest.
I'd say 5 out of 5 for Booster and Metamorpho, 4 - Guy and Manta, 1 - Superman and Bats.
That’s a fair assessment. I will say the Superman and Batman are better in person than video or pics show, but they are certainly the weakest of the wave. Had higher hopes for those versions of the characters.

I was on vacation this past week, so this was a great video to come home to! Dark Knight Returns Batman is a bit of a let down, honestly; I'll definitely need to get back to working on my custom. I already preordered Guy and Booster, but you guys have me tempted to pick up Metamorpho, even if he is a bit on the tall side! Keep the great content coming, guys!

Congrats for the growing channel from a brazilian follower! I pre-ordered Guy, Booster and Metamorpho only ( and they look very cool! ), as I’m not too fond of repaints - the only thing some of them serve for me is to fill up the ( old and new ) line vehicles. In fact, the only one I am missing is the Blue Detective Batman to fill my old Batmobile...I see people complaining they can’t get Blue Manta or Reverse Flash, but that Blue Bats is pretty hard also ( if anyone sees one, let me know! ). Keep it up, guys, love your excitement over the line!

For the Fleischer Superman, I'm surprised they didn't just re-use Wonder Woman's short red cape. I'd think it would work perfectly as a replacement.

It's a great wave - love every single new figure.
I will say again though - I personally don't like the different shades of green on the Lanterns - and for me the colour on John Stewart is far better than the green they've used on the rest... so I'd actually prefer Hal, Kilowog and Guy get repainted! 😂
Also - Metamorpho is a favourite of mine - Ramona Fradon is one of my favourite artists (her artwork would have been better on the card art) and loved the Batman and the Outsiders comic as a kid!

Only series 1 has been available retail over here, everything else is through specialist sites who charge a premium.

Are we ever going to get black manta or reverse flash
People have started finding them at more Walmarts. Had a comment earlier that their Walmart was full of Wave 4 Manta (don’t know if true). This Black Manta in wave 8 should be much easier to track down. And if he was repainted and rereleased, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a new Reverse Flash release, maybe as Zoom or in a multipack.

No, not even close. He’s just a bit taller than the Batman and Superman sculpts from Wave 1. So oversized but not Kilowog or Darkseid levels

Yeah, not all the characters are going to strike the same chords for everyone’s tastes. But I think some Yellow Lantern repaints for some of the figures would satisfy quite a few people!
Maybe they should have a red lantern variant of him. Of course the company would totally have to change the head sculpt for the completely different hairstyle.

i was going to ask , did the Toddfather send them to you because of your promoting the line, when motu orgins was coming out for the last couple of years, i heard that some waves weren't in the u.s. yet but were in south america? or somewhere not america, so they were getting advanced waves, while in the u.s, we were still on old waves still hanging on pegs

@@JustBSingProductions I have all the first 2 waves of comics and backs. I even just ordered an invisible jet. At 50 I felt like a kid watching you stuff. I still wish I had Samari. Not a comic fan, but I still watch Super Friends with my cousins kids.
I saw how on eBay that a lot of figures are out, but they are asking $150.00 dollars for a $9.99 figure how can I get figures without paying way more than what it cost. Especially the Brainiac with Figure and his Skull Ship I paid way too much.
Yeah, eBay sellers are nuts sometimes with those prices. I’ve seen some people having good success with AliExpress at much more reasonable prices. Just be careful and make sure sellers are legit. And don’t expect perfect packaging when it arrives. You can also join some Super Powers Facebook or Instagram groups and see if people are selling or trading any of their figures.

Literally shocking how bad the card art for Metamorpho is. Some of the character pictures have been huge misses in this line, which is a shame for MOC collectors. The effort and care going into those card art choices seems to be very minimal. But despite that, a very solid looking wave of figures.
Definitely some strange decisions. Overall, though, the card art is pretty solid.
A Super Powers style DKR Batmobile/ BatTank could be really cool, and gives Todd a good excuse to do more batman vehicles. also gives a good excuse to do a proper Joker in the white suit from that story.
