      Yep, so true. It's like, no one is doing ThunderCats figures, so if I want them, I have to pay the $55+ Super7 ones. I mean if there's not another option, you either pay the exorbitant cost or do without. Thank god NECA exists. At least there's one company out there tackling all sorts of properties and not charging an arm and a leg. And I have seen other small companies do 3 3/4" movie stuff for less, but they might as well not exist cause they're few and far between/ppl don't know about them.

      Ive only gotten all of the Metallica Cliff Burton figures as they are the only ones around and they are cool figures. The proceeds also benefit the music scholarship fund which is nice. I just got my Ultimates Cliff Burton and it is great but will stay sealed as well as the 2 and 1 more on preorder 3-3/4 figures. I dont get Super7 figures otherwise so im fine spending the $20 every year or so for the new figure.

    I actually really love ReAction figures. Love the old Kenner look (honestly prefer this style of figure over super realistic molds.) For me, one of the biggest selling points for the ones I've collected are the Ed Ripka card-art.

      What's pretty interesting is that most ReAction figure collectors don't know this line has been going on for more than a few years. For the first few, they were Funko/Super7, and the price was $10 - and ppl complained that was too high lol. But the moment the partnership ended with Funko and it became solely a Brian Flynn thing, the price pretty much doubled. I wish I still had the link to a video of a guy in the toy industry made regarding Super7.
      They mentioned Flynn is the most hated guy in the industry. This was before the factory debacle with ThunderCats, and the guy was pointing out how Brian has rubbed so many ppl the wrong way (including the factories in china), that it makes sense why things don't get delivered on time and the prices are astronomically high.

      Absolutely feel the same way. I was looking through my collection and I have the Chucky/Tiffany NECA Toony Terrors set that comes with both figures (that are bigger) and it was still $3 cheaper than a 2 inch Chucky Reaction figure.

  • @Chalor.
    @Chalor. Рік тому +4

    2:30 It makes total sense why a figure like Chucky is the same cost as a larger figure. If you look at other lines (like original Star Wars figures for example), a smaller figure like Wicket is gonna be the same cost as Han Solo, and a larger figure like Amanaman is also the same cost. So small, medium, large, they all should be the same cost with the consistency of the price of the line. But it gets muddled with Brian Flynn that will charge more for a figure like Mumm-Ra the ever living (justify it by saying it's cause they're larger), yet when it comes to a smaller figure like Snarf, the standard price isn't lowered to stay consistent with justifiable reasoning BS they spout.

    3.75" Star Wars was my childhood so I definitely dig Super 7. I love that they make figs from properties where there are few to no other options available. That said, I'm very picky with what I get specifically because of the price point. Occasionally they do go on sale so in most cases I'll wait for that.

    $20 Can be a little steep for a carded action figure that is not even old in Todays Time! In 1995 Star Wars POTF Reissues were going between $4.99-$5.99 At stores like: K-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, Walmart, KayBee Toys, Ect. Inflation has really took a Front Drivers Seat in these 2020-2024 Times! Although I did swallow my money pride and caved in when Super 7 Reaction Universal Monsters Wave 3 Finally Released (To complete My Collection) Their 1935 WereWolf of London Action Figure after a Two Year Delay and Paying $22! • @Chalor.
      @Chalor. Рік тому +1

      Yeah, if only Funko still distributed them for that $10 or less cost. They'd be a lot easier to find in stores, and the price probably wouldn't be more than $12 now. After ReAction became a Super7 only thing, I remember Funko selling versions of 'em with slightly more articulation (like the It remake line), and they were still the same price. You'd get 2-packs for the same cost as 1 Super7 version. Like how a NECA Ninja Turtle 2-pack is the same amount as 1 Super7 Turtle.

      @@Chalor. we as collectors are enabling and encouraging the extreme price hike on horror figures and merch in general. I mean look at the Ultimate NECA figures for example. They stated out costing between $20 and &25. They’re now $35-$40 for the most part. The Toony Terror line was reasonable at $9.99 to $10 with the Chucky and Tiffany two pack being $12. The Halloween 3 trick or treater Tooony Terror figures were $40 -$45 . The $10 and $12 figures are now at $18.99 - $20. That was after the Jaws box set was only $20. It’s gotten out of hand.

    You are also comparing Hasbro (a company that makes millions of figures) versus Super 7 (a company that makes hundreds of thousands of figures), hence they have to charge more. Also, Super 7 wasn't allowed to make anything but Reaction figures in that scale. Ultimately, Super 7 is a much smaller company and their production runs are much much smaller so their prices are a little higher as a result.

    I disagree that they are a ripoff. You fail to realize all the costs involved, and these are not produced in large numbers, like a mass retail release. They are boutique toys. Between the licensing fees, the original card art, etc. Comparing the G.I. Joes is an excellent example of this. Hasbro owns G.I. Joe, and the card art is reused from their own vintage figures. Super7 has to PAY Hasbro to make their figures, and their card art is all new. Plus they use a MUCH thicker card stock than Hasbro. Super7 figures always arrive mint, unlike the "official" Joes.

    First off, I am a Fan Fan of Gi Joe's. This is not what we wanted, I love the idea of bringing back the original intent and look of the Joes...BUT, this is an expensive replica that does not come close to the 82-87 Joe's. I would be willing to pay top dollar for a Joe that was just an updated Joe, swivel arms, legs, o ring, weapons etc...at the prices that I saw for these, I might as well buy used collectibles from ebay because they are still have a chance to appreciate in value, these do not. Great video and thank you for letting us see them out of the packaging. If you are buying these In hopes that they will be worth alot in the future...don't hold your breath. I give this a solid 2 out of five...

    I’m selective about which reaction figures I buy from Super7. I bought the Pee Wee’s Playhouse line because the only other figurines from that show are the vintage ones which, while ironically sold around the same price as reaction figures, are ROUGH looking haha. Plus, you can feel major weight on the Conky and Chairy figures. I bought both Spongebob lines (2 sets/waves) because I still haven’t seen figures come out that look as good as the ones Super7 made. They didn’t have that Kenner look, and instead look VERY properly rendered. On that set the Mr Krabs weighs the equivalent of 2 funkos in their boxes. Other than that I have pretty much the same feelings as most people in these comments. I’d collect more if they were cheaper. And being completely serious, who else is making Napalm Death Scum album cover monsters in like 3 different colorways? They’ve done some fantastic Punk/Hardcore/Hip Hop related figures that I’d never seen any company do that well looking before, as many of those stray away from the Kenner look and have just insane rendering. I try not to compare value if the product I’m buying is unique enough and no other company is making something similar. Otherwise I just go for the biggest and best looking for the lowest price tag.

    I recently got lucky enough to pick up 4 figures for under £30 on eBay, came to like £7 per figure (Medieval Ash, Hero Ash, Evil Ash & Ripley). I don't know how they've not gone on official clearance for some of these 2-3 year old lines that are still fully stocked. I personally think £12-13 is the highest they should be from the start. They do about 6-8 characters per wave & at £/$18-20 that adds up quickly, so I end up holding out until I find a good deal and only get the main characters at that. I don't know how the line carries on when you're actively discouraged from collecting them by the retail price gauging. I think it'd benefit heavily from being a cheaper line because of the basic but retro style. To make them so expensive flies in the face of the original Kenner brand strategy, where the idea was to keep the scale small to sell cheaper so kids & parents would be incentivized to save up & collect them all.

    Super7 ReAction figures are $22.99 CAD where I live. Not happening. I collect GI Joe Classified mostly and actually take them out and play with them. What do I do with 5POA like these ReAction figures have for GI Joe? Cobra Infantry can goose-step I guess, but what else? They look like the Sunbow cartoon characters, I'll give them that. But wasn't the cartoon supposed to sell the toy in the 80s, and not the other way around? The Joe generic soldiers are a great addition, too bad Classified doesn't release these, but again, $22.99?! Army builders need to be sold in value packs - we should have the option to buy 5 or 10 figures with one accessory each in a plain box for lower price. The ReAction army builders should be 5 for $22.99, not one.
    $9.99 CAD is the most I would spend on these individually.

    There is a final Faction line that is sold in Dollar tree. They are like $1.25 per figure. Super7 loves to claim that they are not sold at retail thats why they can't or license fees which to be fair can factor in, yet they are sold in Target and Toys R us in canada. if they wanted it sell better at retail they should sell them at $10 a pop with higher MLQ numbers to offset cost. This is greed.

    I'm not 100% happy with the quality or price on Super 7 myself. However, I still collect them because it's the closest thing to what I want out of a figure. I love the Kenner style, be it Super 7 or the Star Wars Retro Collection line. It just depends on who you are and what you like. I, for example, can't understand why anyone would ever pay actual money for a Funko Pop figure. They're basically just all the exact same thing and they're absolutely hideous.

    The bottom line is that the figures, themselves, are literally the cheapest-made on the market. The problem isn't the 5 points of articulation, as I grew up with that and I love it. The problem is that their PLASTIC is very cheap and "chalky" - it's not Kenner-quality plastic (in other words, if the GOAL is to mimic "vintage Kenner", then at least make them the QUALITY of vintage Kenner - I mean, good grief, the 1978 SW figures have better face sculpts than ReAction figures) - and their PAINT apps are extremely lazy. So they charge $18 and expect people to buy them just because of the "IP" brand. The "FINAL FACTION" series that's sold at DOLLAR GENERAL for a *DOLLAR EACH* are BETTER quality than ReAction figures - which means Super7 is basically charging people $17.50 to pay for their IP licenses. When ReAction first came out and they were like $7 each, that made sense. But if FINAL FACTION can put out BETTER quality pieces for a DOLLAR - *today* - then there's just no excuse for what Super7 is charging for these things.

      I've been collecting ReAction figures from the get-go when they came out with those unreleased Alien figs. During that whole time with the Funko partnership, I thought $10 was very reasonable when so many thought that was even too much. But the moment Funko left (and made slightly more articulated versions for the same cost, just not under the ReAction banner), Flynn almost doubled the price due to straight up greediness. Still collecting the line, but I have to cherry pick more.
      The $18-22 cost is definitely (objectively) not worth it. So removing your love of the line out of the equation, I can't see how anyone could honestly say these things are worth the cost. I'd be like saying a bare boned, lazy repaint marvel legends is objectively worth $25+, compared to a completely new tooled $20 McFarlane figure. Man, if only Mattel got the ThunderCats license back, we could get superior, more articulated versions for like $30 (i.e. Masterverse or WWE ultimates) compared to the $55 Super7 charges. Or how you can get two newly tooled Ninja Turtles figures that are loaded with (by hand) paint for the same cost as one Super7 Turtles figure.

    Yeah I get 20 bucks is allot , consider this though...Hasbro has been screwing around doing these same figures and not giving you what you want plus re doing figure after figure by changing color or dumping 3rd rate characters and when they do what you want it's only an exclusive going for 3xs the price that a stupid reasons like boxing figures taking weapons away is not what people want you might get a few o ring characters here and there but good luck finding characters you want. Super7 is doing a bit more cartoon based characters with a bit more detail and better cardbacks and trying to make them available everywhere so I get the 20 bucks pricetag they have to pay for the plastic cardbacks disturbing and employees to make them I get it. I also feel sooner or later the price will either go down or eBay scalpers will screw you or simply they won't make them so no one will complain but I'm sure by that point ppl will bitch why there no longer being made?

    Considering their limited articulation & production quality, if these figures were - say, $10/a pop - I'd buy a whole bunch of them. But w/the limited articulation, soft, simplistic sculpt & paint aps, asking anything above $10/a figure is indeed a rip-off. Now, if the figures were fully-articulated & had the same quality of, say, Star Wars The Vintage Collection? I'd happily pay $18/$19 for each.

The recent ReActions I picked up were the Willow line, and those are beautifully done! There is another company doing similar things, Plastic Meatball released EXCELLENT retro Labyrinth figures and I'm hoping at the lower price of around $14, that they will get other IPs like possibly Battlestar Galactica or maybe even permission to do things like Thundarr the Barbarian, an updated take on Captain Power (finally creating the missing ), or maybe even Spaceballs figures. I'm always confused that Super7 pursues the popular IPs that may have already existed in that scale prior.

    Here’s the thing to keep in mind with Super 7:
    They’re not making these horror Reaction figures to appeal to the masses. They’re specifically targeting that very profitable segment of the market who are always willing to a 500% markup on something, simply because it has a marquee label (i.e., Halloween, Child’s Play, Universal Monsters) slapped on the front…the niche horror collector. You said it yourself, horror collectors everywhere always pay these exorbitant prices for cheap goods, so of course, companies like Super 7 exploit the f- out of that! Haha. As soon as the trend of “collecting horror” cools down, the prices will drop, too.
    I bought both of The Lost Boys David figures that recently came out, simply because the artwork was so cool, but I hated myself for doing it afterward. But, FOMO is a very real thing. Super 7 knows that, too, and they’re banking on it every single time.

      Yeah, they are aimed at the horror marketer and collectors for sure. I just think at some point they are going to price themselves out of the market. ReAction figures are awesome. One scale, One universe where all properties can be collected. They don't take up much space at all, and they support a company that actually truly cares about the fans. @@kewrock I don't understand that argument. A fool and his money will soon depart. Not everybody feels the need to buy every release across every toy line. People like variety, and S7 gives you plenty of options just like it was back in the day collecting.
      For example. I was a die hard real ghostbusters kid. Had to have everything. But when they released the same molds of the same ghostbusters AGAIN (and for the last time) in glow in the dark, I turned them down so I could buy into Ninja Turtles. There are no awards for collecting every single figure released.. and it isn't a toy companies fault for offering options.

  • @milkywayskywalker
    @milkywayskywalker 7 місяців тому

    If you think the price of a figure is determined by the amount of plastic... then you don't understand how action figures are made or marketing in general. Price of action figures is mostly determined on the intersection of the cost of labor and the demand for the figure. Reaction figures are made in smaller runs because they know these are niche figures... smaller demand and smaller runs means that they need to charge more per figure... even though the digital sculps and molding is much more involved than a Pop figure. It has almost nothing to do with how much cheap plastic they use.
