- Hello everyone!
Here's a not so brief comparison of the most basic aspects on cats in all of The Sims series.
I skipped a lot of subjects because I didn't want to repeat thing I've touched on the dog videos so if you're confused on how to get a cat etc just head over to dogs part 1 and it's basically the same process.
I didn't mention fighting in interactions because the fights are the same as dogs AND they take wayyy too long.
Also, just so you know, kittens are going to be next and it's likely I'll just include Sims 2, Sims 3 and Sims 4, why? Because the kittens and the rest of a cats life in sims 1 it's exactly the same as a dog's, and we all know they didn't do well on that comparison, so, just a heads up.
So after this comparison what's your opinion? Who wins?
My Opinion?
Sims 1 did good as a base for what was to come, specially in the tricks section, that kind of effort was not repeated in the other games but as always their aesthetic and limitations are something I don't like about that game.
Sims 2 introduced many things for cats like being able to jump into counters and play with unique toys however comparing to the other's abilities this ones come a little short in that aspect
Sims 3 copied a lot of stuff from sims 2 but it introduced hunting, which is quite fun and useful for those looking to collect animals, I like that they can be controlled and the fact that they can guard things just like dogs but their aesthetic is something that bothers me
Sims 4 did great on the cat's aesthetics, most of the cats ended up looking good and they have good interactions with both sims and objects, however, the actual content on them falls short if we talk about skills, I wish they'd come up with tricks like sims 1 did.
But that's just my opinion, be sure to share yours in the comment section.

In the Sims 1 it was impossible to have gold fish or birds in a cage when you had a cat in the house. Cats would "play" with the fish until the moment the fish bowl became "mysteriously" empty . As for the birds, they had some emergency call (a red alert speech bubble popping out of the cage), and you had to go scold the cat. If not, the cat would eat the bird, and the cage became empty... The more skilled for hunting the cat was, the quicker it happened.

I feel like they’ve smoothed down the fur texture on Sims 4 too much and that even the sims 2 have a better texture in the tumb nail picture.

In Sims 3, cats can sit on sims who are sitting on the couch and there's a cute cuddle-like animation that happens during the interaction.
personally i think the sims 2 cats look the most like real cats. but im a big fan of the expanded interactions and activities in sims 3, like hunting. kinda missed pet jobs tho 😂

I don't know if anyone know this in the Sims 4 when u get ur sims to play lazer pointer at ur cat in a mood the lazer of the pointer will be the color of the mood that ur sim is in like
Happy Mood: Green
Flirty Mood: Pink
Smart (idk the name of it) Mood: Purple
Sad Mood: Blue
Playful Mood: Dark Pink
and all of the other moods that i don't remember.
But yea the lazer will be the color of the mood but this is in the Sims 4.
I know there is a focused mood that's purple
There's also "Sad" "Angry" and "Embarassed" that I know of

In the sims 3, cats can play in an empty bathtub. Other than that, I think everything was mentioned
Can you add their death too? I'm curious if they can only die by old age.

1. In Sims 4, cats can eat trash left on the ground. They can also jump on counters and eat sim food from there

I noticed as I kept watching that sims 4 have a lot of the same interactions but because I can't control them I rarely or never see them which i don't like.
You forgot the catnip in Sims 4 and that they're can interact with the mousehole wall decor ( mouse included spawn a mouse like in CL) from CD. They're hunting the mouse from it.

Sims 4 cats can wear cute outfits and ride cleaning rovers on their own. Didn't know about this feature until I saw my top-hat cat sitting on one. Took me by surprise.

They got the look best in Sims 2, but the behavioral patterns and interactions are way more realistic in Sims 3. A combo of the two would be perfect. ( although I think this is true for those two games in general)
Yeah there was a definite improvement in the interactions for the Sims 3- throwing your cat in the air!?! Though none of the 'holding a cat' animations looked that great. Sims 3 at least they were horizontal but still not very supported.
Yeah, TS2 pets look the best, but it annoys me so much that you can't carry them, or even cuddle with small dogs.
Cats do have interactions on the couch in The Sims 3!

I actually love the graphic of sims 4. Now, don't get me wrong- it's not like... It's a masterpiece, no. But I really DO enjoy playing in this cartoon world. Sims 2 and 3 were more into realistic theme, and Sims 4 was never meant to be like that. I also really like animals in TS4. I liked them too in 2 (I also remember that in this time I was like... obsessed in having a wolf. Those glowing eyes~), but in 3... It was exhausting. In 4 at first I was tired too, because my first cat was the one that liked to be around people/sims, but then... I kinda learned to like it. This pixel cat is actually like one that I have in real life- demands attention. And and I love the fact that this cat was supposed to be the cat of the mother of the house, but instead he likes her daughter better and is where she is like a bodyguard or something like that. And It's cute because they're friends from a toddler ^^
Yes but think of everything u can do in TS3 pets, u can get horses, u can catch birds and small animals, and ofc u can actually control ur pets.
Loopie owo well dlc in 3 had much more than those in 4. It's the fact and no one will say otherwise. I do prefer cats and dogs in 4 tho. Of course the wole dlc in 3 was much better but not perfect. Same goes in 4. With toddlers It's the same for me. I love those from 4 and like those from the rest. Well I still think that sims 3 is a better game but it is a bad program. It doesn't mean that TS4 is bad. It cost a LOT of money et cetera but It's a good and nice looking game. ... Still hate the dlc Policy of theirs. I'll never buy those Animal stuff accesory thing

Please, EA, take your time with the Sims 5, put as much love in this game as you put in The Sims 2. Take all the wonderful parts from the older games and merge it together to a perfect Sims game.
The love and charm, the graphics for animals, the animations and interactions from Sims 2 (or more - almost the whole game with some changes!). The Open World and Customization for furniture and clothes from Sims 3, but with more and better-looking defaults, the IKEA expansion pack for TS2 was one of the best furniture packs ever!). The CAS and the Build a house system from Sims 4.
Don’t try to make the most money out of it. You will, if you create a perfect Sims 5, with passion. There will be even more people who will buy a complete and good game.
sims 4 pet pack should add:controlable pets , Animals to sleep with you , more traits etc..
as much as i love sims 3, the cats in sims 2 are definitely the cutest 😭
S2 was super realistic, S4 kind of just looks like everyone is a doll.
If you think about it sims 2 was really the one where devs had to work hardest. They couldn't reuse animations and had to make everything from scratch as sims 1 wasn't even 3d. The later games just reuse sims 2 materials with updated graphics.

Sims 3 shows more details in fur to be honest it looks more fluffy than in sims 4 in the sims 4 it looks like its just kinda ehh.. I got nothing much but sims 3 wins in my book for the cats!

Ive always loved how in the sims 4 i dont have to control them, in 3 id have a tough time making sure both animals and people were good with needs.

Some of the ways the sims talk to their pets I can relate to. In the sims 2, I swear they are saying "ikish pickles" which is something I would totally say to my cat 🤣🤣
Bring back the cat-specific tricks from Sims 1! I find it rather annoying that Sims 3 and 4 doesn't allow you to teach a cat tricks (although it is encouraging that you can run them through the obstacle course in 4; I didn't know that). I admit that it should probably be a bit harder than it is for a dog, but come on -- let's have our own keyboard cats again! Also bring back the wall toys for cats while you're bringing back tug-of-war ropes for dogs. Hmph.
You can train cats to do some things in Sims 3
The cats can learn the hunting skill and find little animals and birds for you. Sometimes even gems.

Sims 3 cats sound like a bunch of Elmos trying to meow.
The pets scratching furniture in TS2 was extremely irritating because they'd do it all the time and the sounds are annoying too
