- Enjoy this beautiful #shorts tutorial on how to dry flower bouquets like a pro!
Here are the simple instructions:
1. Tie the bouquet into a bundle using cotton or other natural fiber string or twine. Rubber bands do not work as well because the stems will slip once the flowers start drying and shrinking. The twine has a natural texture that adheres to stems a lot better.
2. Hang the flower bouquets upside down from a strong rope or rod and space the bouquets so that there is good air circulation. The better the air circulation, the faster the flowers will dry.
3. Hand flower bouquets out of direct sunlight as the sunlight will bleach the flower colors
4. When the flowers and stalks are fully dry (crispy) spray a bit of hair spray or floral preserving spray to help lock out moisture.
5. Make decorative wreaths, hand bouquets, and resin flower art with your dried flowers! Be creative!

I wish I had seen this a week ago 😩 the idea just came to me & theyve been in a vase & lost some vibrancy. But I’m still going to try to dry them now & put them in a shadow box.

would this trick still make the origin color stand out, or no matter how it's still gonna be brown?
This method of drying flowers does a good job of retaining the flowers' original color. However, the best method which keeps the most color is using silica sand to dry the flowers with.
Jesus loves you and may God bless yall
Amen! 🙏🙏🤲🤲
Beautiful
Thank you so much!
How long does it take to dry
It depends on the thickness of the flower petals, stems. IN general, many flowers dry within 2 weeks
So what’s the purpose of this? Besides looking pretty.
Many people like to preserve sentimental bouquets as well as use beautiful dried flowers for crafting, decorating, and making potpouri. It is a functional way to repurpose flowers besides composting them.
Question about bugs if you cut the flowers from outside, do they naturally go away as you dry or can you spray with a natural repellent like essential oil, etc. Thank you!
Hi and thanks for watching!
To get rid of any bugs on your fresh-cut flowers, here are a few options:
1. Shake or gently tap the flowers.
2. Use a soft brush to gently remove pests.
3. Rinse with water: A gentle spray of water can help dislodge insects and their eggs.
4. Soak in water: Fill a basin or container with lukewarm water and submerge the flowers for a few minutes.
5. Neem oil or Insecticidal soap.
Hey! Thanks for sharing!🤗

Orchids will not dry well hanging dry. They will oxide because they are somewhat succulent. The best way to dry Orchid is to bury them and silica sand.

hi , I have a question what is the benefit of it? Like is it something ornamental or something you can eat (by drying the flowers why)?
Drying flowers serves both ornamental and practical purposes, including decorative uses, aromatherapy, culinary uses, and crafts.
Can I do it with roses? I hope that the petals doesn't fall off, if I keep it for drying
Yes you can hang roses upside down to dry them. Sometimes you lose a few petals
Thank you !! I wanna keep all the bouquets my bf gives me🥹🫶🏾
Welcome! Glad to hear you found my video helpful!
Does this make them last forever?
How long they last depends on how well they are preserved and cared for. Keep them away from direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperature changes to prolong their lifespan. Properly dried and stored flowers can last for several months to a few years.
When flowers dry spray with what?
Your tittle covers that information.
Sorry about that! You can use hairspray or floral spray
@@FoodieGardenerDiabetes, thank you.
Hairspray will do or floral spray
@EdenMakers, thank you.
Is there an alternative for hairspray?
Hi and thanks for watching! Yes you can use a floral spray. Choose an aerosol version rather than a mist.
Tie flowers with what kind of string? Some words were blocked.
Hi! Thanks for watching. You will want to tie them with cotton or a natural string because rubber bands will shrink and slip off as the plant dries.
What will happen if I spray nothing at the end ?

Do you put flowers in dark place ??
Yes, you can, as long as it is in a dry and well ventilated place.
Hi... Is that flower dont get fungus to many long time?
Hi and thanks for watching!
Yes, dried flowers can still be susceptible to fungal growth under certain conditions. While the drying process removes much of the moisture from the flowers, it may not eliminate all of it. If dried flowers are exposed to high humidity or damp conditions, there is a risk that fungi, such as mold, can develop.
To prevent fungal growth on dried flowers, it's essential to store them in a dry and well-ventilated environment. Keep them away from areas with high humidity, and store them in a cool, dark place.
Can we use something else instead of hairspray?

Yes you can hang a sunflower to dry upside down but best shape and color is achieved with silica gel drying

It depends on how big the flowers are. Typically hang drying can take anywhere from 1 week for baby's breath to 3 weeks for smaller roses. Keep them out of sunlight
Can I do this with tulips?
Unfortunately, tulips don’t dry well in the stem. You can dry them by immersing them in silica sand.
Will they attract bugs?
Generally they do not attract bugs but sometimes if they are not completely dried and have residual moisture they can. Just make sure they are completely dry. Thanks for watching!
Can I do this with lilies?
I do not recommend drying lilies by hanging them, since they are very fleshly and filled with water. The best way to dry lilies is in silica sand. You can buy this type of drying agent at the craft store.
Can all flowers be dried this way?
Yes, all flowers can be dried hanging upside down, but keep in mind that there are some better methods for retaining color for some flowers than for others.
For instance, white flowers tend to oxidize and turn brown or an ocher color.
to keep this from happening, the best way to dry white flowers is to use silica sand.
Thanks for the tips
Welcome!

I wish the words, and arrows didn't cover the instructions.
Hi Tanya, Sorry to hear you can't see the instructions. Here they are:
1. Tie the bundle of flowers tightly with cotton or natural string (rubber bands slip when flowers dry & shrink).
2. Space flower bundles for good air circulation and faster drying.
3. Don't put into direct sunlight. It will bleach the flower color.
4. When flowers are dry, spray with hairspray to preserve them.
So the petals fall as they are drying?
No, they should stay on during the process 😁
