Take Your Floral Arrangement From Amateur To Pro By Designing With These Six Elements

- In this video I show you the six elements that will take your floral arrangement from amateur to pro! Foliage creates a natural appearance and an armature for the rest of the arrangement. Add line flowers for height and shape. Every arrangement needs focal flowers for the wow factor. Use filler flowers to fill (obvi) the empty spaces. Select some secondary flowers for support and additional color and texture. Finally, stick in some bits and pieces for a little something to make it special.

Terrific information, Ellen! This will help me when choosing flowers for a design.
Thanks for watching carrie. Sometimes, depending on the season, its hard to get foliage or even focal flowers, but I find that this recipe is pretty reliable for making really interesting arrangements.

I love bits and pieces, like nigella pods, and Orlaya has an interesting green structure element once the petals fade. Thank you for all of your help.
You are so welcome! All the pods and weird little flowers are the best!

thanks for watching! Hope it was helpful! If you have any topic you'd like me to cover in a video, let me know!
@@ellenfrostflowers It WAS helpful! I actually do have a topic that is of interest! Why do florists want long stem flowers, but most attractive arrangements have stems around 12 inches or less (in my personal opinion)? Is it for versatility in arranging? Can you explain and perhaps give a tutorial on how to make an attractive “long stem version” arrangement that has a similar fullness as the one in this video? I just don’t see many FULL long stem arrangements on UA-cam and roses with baby’s breath or gladiolos in a spray are just not good enough for me. 😊💚
@@BBDD. This is such a great question. It's all about versatility! On any given week we may be making bud vases and huge alter urns. We're purchasing flowers to be able to everything on our plate that week. I have one video with a larger/fuller arrangement, but I'll also plan to do a beginners video on how to make a tall/full urn. Here is the one video I have of a taller arrangement. ua-cam.com/video/G-qbQXVsxGw/v-deo.htmlsi=X5QBPZJQrLFKypyO
I might have missed it, but what is the line flower you used? I love the colors you used!
Baptisia! A favorite native this time of year!!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome! I hope this was helpful!
Yes! I tried making a bouquet soon after seeing your video! I got inspired and will keep trying to make a nice bouquet!
@@suravijoshi758 AMAZING! Keep practicing! That's the best way to improve your skills!
Do you ever use ranunculus as a focal?
YES! we were using them as focals after tulips and before peonies!
@@ellenfrostflowers that was my plan. They are just coming on heroínas northeast Pa
