53:06 ok so i have what you can call a history with those type dungeons since the first time saw one of them, was when the friend who recommended me to play souls games was watching me. I think i asked him about some fun builds i should try so he directed me to the dungeon where you get lord of blood's exultation talisman..... you will never guess the build he was about to recommend When i was navigating that thing, my dude got so confused as to why we could not find the path while i was constantly telling him that the dungeon is changing every time i jumped through a window. While it was cool at first (and funny since a newbie like me at the time figured it out instantly while the 500 hour veteran was confused before i showed him everything that changed twice) the problem is that it looks stupid imo and you have to do it like 5 times just to open the path to the stupid enem... oh im sorry "boss". And then i found out that there are more dungeons with the exact same stupid mechanic except they don't give anywhere near a useful item as the above-mentioned talisman so it was a waste of time. The only time you actually see some variety in dungeons is if you go to the consecrated snowfields as the cave where the Golden Order Greatsword is found and the mine where Astel Stars of Darkness resides because the devs did not copy paste the same corridor models used everywhere else in these. On my first playthrough I explored every single Limgrave and Liurnia dungeons, mines and caves alongwith the Leyndell sewers and very few dungeons around Volcano Manor, Altus and Mountaintops but once i completed Liurnia, i got so sick of them that i actively avoided every other dungeon, cave and mine that i came across. And for the most part, they are useless other than some like the Leyndell sewer one that you mention since that's where you get Lord of Blood's Exultation and some others like the one where you find Latenna, the place where you get winged sword insignia talisman, the mines where you find smithing and somber bell bearings (though they are still useful to collect upgrade items), one that is in Radahn's battle arena for early ghost glovewart 6 or 7 idk which one is found there for spirit ashes and the ones where you find the scorpion charms (thank god for most of these you don't have to navigate the entire dungeon so i just intentionally die after collecting them to get out).
This just goes to show that there truly are different strokes for different folks. Many people including you found the trick maze catacombs to be obnoxious, while I found it to be very clever and I was happy that I got tricked. I think it's because I really enjoy going slowly and methodically and observing my surroundings, whereas many people including you are mainly just focused on getting to the next enemy or boss or rare loot and don't want to have to decipher a purposely confusing maze in order to accomplish that. What was your favourite "legacy dungeon" (the big dungeons) in Elden Ring, including DLC?
