I was really surprised how much cutting power (and torque) this saw had out of the box. I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend. This is a Great saw ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.
Appreciate you giving the length of the 724! Haven’t seen that anywhere else
Thanks for the video, I was struggling to decide between these three stands. The video is just what I needed to make a decision (723).
Also I wanted to mention that my A-Trak system will have the miter saw stand will be able to be used and kept in the E track system for easy mobility and Removal off the track system so I’m able to take my miter saw stations wherever I go and they’re up and out-of-the-way they will be up and out of the way
Have 3 sets of mounts, one for sliding miter saw of course, one for a table top that I can use my Dewalt Planer or any other desktop tool I want (it’s pretty universal at 36” L x 20” W, finally I have a 26” L x 20” W board that is specific for my sharpening station of chisels/plane irons.
i just bought a DEWALT DWS780 saw today and got a DWX723 for free at Lowes all for 512.00 including tax
The DeWalt DWX723, DWX724 & DWX725B Heavy Duty Miter Saw Stands use a universal design and works with all brands of miter saws.
Tips and Test:
Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)!
Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade.
Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt.
Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing .
And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft.
It is very important that everything is aligned.
Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade.
Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / HITACHI C12RSH2 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact / Bosch PCM 8 SD.
Second optie: handle horizontal positioned above the saw blade / Evolution R185SMS / Evolution F255SMS / Evolution RAGE3R255 SMS3 .
(This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails).
(If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing.
Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw.
The wood it will remain in place until the test is completed.
Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand or finger on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine.
Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut.
If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing.
(test is completed).
Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade.
Step-5. When you measure the vertical angle square (Digital level box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing.
Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing, it is better not to do that . (the choices are yours).
Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner...
Any model of quality saw will produce great results as long as the operator is knowledgeable and skilled. The handle is a preference, your detailed analysis is overly scientific, fine work can be produced with a horizontal handle as well...
Your answer does not agree with the test it is about torsion . Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing. Read
the test again.
@@judithrob1591 I'm a professional finish carpenter. I can speak from experience- just because you have a horizontal saw (ie Dewalt) does not mean you cannot produce high quality cuts and results. I'm not disagreeing with the 'test', what I'm saying is you can't simply dismiss a saw because it has a side handle. We're not dealing with airplane manufacturing tolerances here, we're cutting and gluing together pieces of wood!!
I understand your answer, but above all it is better that everything is in line. In this case is symmetry better . (the choices are always free).
@@judithrob1591 Your eyes will not be in line, when you cut your head is always tilted to the side. Also it is more natural to grip a horizontal handle. The wrist is put in a very awkward position when gripping a vertical handle and pulling straight down. I would argue it's 'better' to be in a more comfortable position.
Awesome freaking video , the first stand holds up 16ft of material ??
*Bought a few months backs **MyBest.Tools** used to cut some 2x4s to make a hanging swing. Cuts were precise and quick.*
Nice job with that video.
This isn't a review, it's an advertisement. He doesn't say anything critical in the entire video. The legs aren't adjustable, so it can only be used on flat level ground. The farther out you put the wood rests, the more they sag, which mean every time you adjust the length you also have to adjust the height. There are no wheels to move it around a shop while the saw is mounted, which is a standard feature on almost every miter saw stand.
There are many different styles of saw stands, these ones are made to carry the saw and stand separately. The legs do not require perfectly flat ground, they actually have enough flex in the design to adjust for minor variations. If you want to roll the stand around with saw attached you buy a more suitable 'rolling' saw stand. These stands are more handy for storing out of the way when not in use, and putting in the truck. The Dewalt models are very well built and have been used by MANY professional tradesman for years for good reason.
Great video, good information gordy
i use this system daily, but in my opinion, the miter saw brackets are a bad design, the supporting "feet" they sit on when not attached to the stand are too low. when the miter saw has the brackets attached and is being transported in the back of your truck etc , the clips on bottom of the brackets hang down lower then the feet of the bracket. the clips are made of plastic and end up getting damaged
Still. I haven't found a better saw. Mine is 1st gen double bevel. 9 y/o.
Awesome review. Love Gordon.
Super helpful, thanks
Great review. Thanks!
thankyou and make more videos
Hi Gordon. I sent you a couple emails with some questions, but will also post here. I have the DW708 12" saw along with the DW7231 Miter stand. The stand has an extra bolt for different models and mine happens to be one listed, regarding clearance. Also not sure if there is a front or back to this stand and what that butterfly clip in the rails is for.... while I am here...in what order do the bolts and washer/lock washer go when adding the saw to the brackets. NEED HELP....thanks bunches.
you need to use a mic, but the video was very informative. Thank you

Is gordon like the founder of tool king or somthing? He's kinda awsome!
Its rumored that Gordon used to ride with Pancho Villa
Doesnt Dewalt make a vice assesory that clamps directly to the 723 main beam rail?
Dach Extension
hi this table can be used with the saw dw715?
Anybody know if the optional wide supports and the extra leg will fit on the old style 723?
Ive got an extra leg for you
Gordon , camper than a row of pink tents ? Would be better suited presenting knitting ! Bless him
Does anyone have any information on how to fix the sagging extensions? Ive ruined ours overtime by cutting composite decking and now the extensions sag by 2 inches at full extension. I cant seem to find the extension bushings for replacement anywhere.
"Another exciting thing is" lol
You're a Dewalt dealer. Here's how they can improve their great stands. Make the legs height adjustable and have levelers on all 4 legs. so if you want to use more than one together you can level them.
I think there's actually already enough flexibility in these legs to adjust to minor surface level variations.
I love them just the way they are you go to adding more shit. You will run in to more problems!

so i use a coping saw to do my inside corners and for years I used the black and decker $30 fold up stand to set my saw on and allow me the work space to do my coping saw work. I'm worried that if I buy this stand will i loose that working space rendering this whole stand useless?

If you do all the cutting at shop you
dont need to purches that tool.
They should invent the ultimate multi tool.
Grinder, Screwdiver,in one.
And for the grider good fine cuttings for wood.
Less is more !
Bad audio! Can't stand to listen to it. Why not wear a lapel mic?
With all due respect to the DeWalt tools, which I have been using for years, that is the worst design ever!!! I found about dozen flows that would make your life very difficult using DWX723 and I am not surprised that they give it away (at least here Down-Under, as a bonus when you buy DWS780 Miter Saw). The handle at the bottom is the most stupid idea to start with. There are also other problems with material supports that Gordon forgot to mention and cleverly skipped to next feature. Whatever they intended to improve from previously design stands, this one is a total failure.
These stands are awesome, not sure what your gripes are about. No stand will ever be perfect for everyone, we all have different preferences. The handle is on the bottom because you flip it over to fold the legs and carry it!?!
see you action and how you talk like you are gay.Dewalt is good tools has 20v drills, finish nailer .....
