Reportedly devestator render files were so big that they had to move each limb individually on different computers cause one computer would break if someone tried the whole thing. Something more humanoid/G1 shape could’ve worked the same if not better and if they didn’t like the G1 colours there was the G2 or diaclone colours
Honestly, monstrous form of Devastator is alright, it is just the "upright" form which doesn't hold up

Here's a fun story, when my brother and I were just kids he absolutely loved Jolt and said he was the coolest thing (mainly because of the electric whips) while I didn't even know who he was talking about. So when the SS of Jolt got revealed I remembered and went running to him to see his reaction so maybe I could give one to him as a present or something like that, imagine my surprise when as soon as I asked if he remembered the character he just answered with a quick and precise "Who?"
Jolt, a character so insignificant that even his greatest fan forgot about him.
That aside, this was such a great rant so please keep it up 🙏🙏

This was a great roast for sure, though I did want hear you roast on the plot or lack thereof. The robot designs in ROTF were atrocious.
These roasts are supposed to be about about the designs of the characters. I drifted into some other stuff this time, but I try to keep it limited. If I was going after the story I'd want to do an actual review.

The cyclops eye is weird but Ravage is a decent design. Though they really liked having Bumblebbe tear Ravage in half, both in the movie and the ride at Universal. Hell, Ravage being torn in half seems to be a common death for him.

To both summarize the problem with having Optimus brutally kill his enemies and to quote another wise, baritone-voiced leader from an animated series:
“To kill in the heat of battle is one thing, but not like this.”

1:46 Damn, shockwave (I think, the comics weren’t really specific) really gave the autobots a real disadvantage if they keep giving them permanent scars like that and if they are that stupid to think they are still suitable for the battlefield.
I always say that if it's not in the movie then it doesn't exist. If they explain they can't go back to normal in a comic, then it doesn't have any bearing on the movie.
But considering they are robots no mater what they should have fixed their bodies.

They just went by color and afterwards slapped some random Fembot names on these abominations. I'm sure that if the blue one was a lighter shade of blue, they'd just say it's Moonracer instead of Chromia. That's BS.

Comics did them better, they all shared the same spark as Arcee, like they were attached twins.
Yeah, the thing about Optimus in the Bay movies that I’ve heard from some people is that they compare his brutal actions to how Sixshot would fight.
And I can totally see it. Sixshot is definitely the type of character would would rip someone’s face in have or rip someone’s spark out from the back and crush it in his hand. That would be cool and badass of Sixshot was doing it.
But ultimately they had Optimus do all these things. The writers of the Bay films never understood what made Optimus special. He wasn’t a generic Hollywood action hero-something Peter Cullen learned not to do when talking to his brother about voicing Optimus Prime-he was strong, inspiring, powerful, and caring. He’s the type who would spare a foe that’s been beaten, or would have let Megatron take the Decepticons back to Cybertron if it meant the end of their war. He’s not a barbarian. He’s a leader. A soldier. A friend. But the Bay movies ignored all that after the first one. Seriously, do they not know the difference between killing an enemy while they are downed and disarmed compared to killing an enemy during combat when the enemy has the means to still fight back?
At least I’m glad that they fixed Optimus’s demeanor in BumbleBee, despite him only being in the movie for so long. Still not cool that Hasbro didn’t go to Peter Cullen first because he joined a voice actors Union.

Yeah, it's so sad what they did to Optimus Prime when the character came from such a benevolent place. He was designed to be the opposite of that and they just made him that.

Considering that the 2010 line was literally called "Hunt For The Deceptions" the whole Decepticon genocide thing was definitely intentional for whatever reason
And the movie had almost no Decepticon hunting outside of the start.
@@PerspectiveEnd What's even more interesting about this, is that the DOTM game followed this concept in a Detroit level and actually showed several decepticons destroying some cities.
I had this idea of an Arcee that's just 3 motorcycles that slam together to form a single robot with 2 legs, like Bayverse Arcee's supposed combined mode, but with a G1 Arcee look, or something that would actually be able to function.
That'd be for sure better than what they did with this movie.

7:28 In the first film, blackout was 33 feet tall, so 5 feet taller than optimus who was 28 feet, but in rotf, Grindor is 55 feet tall, this is because when they recovered megs and the other dead cons from the trench or wherever, they tore apart a construction to fix megs and blackout so it made him taller
Thats also where megs got his treads from
Grindors helicopter mode is a Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion while Blackout was a Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low helicopter. The MH-53 is 88 ft long and the CH-53E is 99ft long so our helicopter buddy had to compensate for his growth spurt and get a new vehicle mode. And yes, i just googled all of that
I enjoyed ROTF as a kid, but now I usually just see as pretty pointless story wise, really you could just skip to dark of the moon and all you’d really miss was how prime got the flight stuff and the matrix
I like the arcee design, just not for an actual design for arcee. Plus I think there was a tie in comic that explained how arcee ended up like that (her old design was a toy for the first film and actually looked like the character)
Also the predators had a head like the fallen, the difference is predators are actually threatening

@@PerspectiveEnd Forest Battle is only thing that I enjoyed from this film nowadays, then it was disgraced when they had that scene where Optimus is being dropped from a helicopter like a he's milk carton and then they have that avengers music like he's been buried or something.
Well actually grindor was meant to be blackout resurrected blackout, original killed by having prime backflip of megatron than rip blackout face in half, but Michael bay insisted on megatron not being hurt but also prime somehow ripping his face in half from the top, so the simple solution of creating a new character, with an extremely inconsistent size, was taken, and yes it was that stupid

I think it’s the nostalgia for me. This was my first exposure to transformers and also your absolutely right about the autobots executing hiding deceptions. Literally all sideways was just running away and sideswipe bisected him. Also about the arcee triplets (arcee,Elita 1, chromia) in the comics they were all normal with two standing feet but shockwave experimented on them thus them having wheel feet this goes for wheeljack and dino(mirage as well) to damaged in battle so they had to improvise

seriously tho, These Autobots have their Shattered Glass personalities. it's kind of incredible how completely evil they are in this movie. no wonder the humans start exterminating them by Movie 3.
I'm pushing for him to be called Leatherface Prime now.
The fact that Ironhide walks in after they beat Demolishor and says Punk Ass Decpticon makes my skin crawl.

Watching this made me realize how perfectly movie optimus prime would be as a slasher movie villian like just imagine a giant 30 foot robot with physcopathic tendencies coming after you that would be the most freaky shit imaginable

I actually like the wheel feet design, my only problem is that if they don't have legs and only wheels then it must be hard for them to like, move around in certain terrain. Wheels can't be going over everything so like, how they get around? They gotta hop around and stuff? That sucks.
Also would be very difficult for them to stand still.

I saw this and dark of the moon when I was little, I wouldn’t have been watching things like this if I hadn’t immediately discovered G1 and Prime after. The timeline where I enjoy the movies is truly a dark one.

When you realize skid’s voice actor is the guy who voices sponge bob and mudflap is voiced by the guy who did 07 jazz (fun fact) but to be fair they didn’t think there voices would be the final voices of them bay told them they would just be stand ins until they found actual voice actors for them

Considering you hate the Cybertronian alt modes (aka nothing vehicles), do you really want to see Bayverse Jetfire's space jet alt mode? Also, loved the comparison between Sideswipe's face and Jim Carrey Grinch's Whos! Also-also, The Fallen's head is supposed to resemble a tribal mask...at least that's how I interpret it.
I think you are right about the Tribal Mask thing, but I don't know why he would look like that. What does it mean? Nothing. It means nothing.

The fallen looks like something out of Bionicle, which honestly makes me want a live action big blockbuster movie about Bionicle.

I think I still have the Devastor toy. I think the designs are terrible for Transformers but could work for a generic “alien robots” movie. They’re all scary and monstrous
They might have worked for that yeah, but that's not what the transformers is supposed to be.
As much as I like the monstrous look they gave Devastator, I would’ve preferred if they kept the individual constructicons still humanoid instead of the cursed looks they got. In fact, Seeing the two Devastators makes me realize why the blocky G1 designs are still the GOAT to fans especially in regards to the combiners. Not only does it make perfect sense for the constructicons to have a uniform color scheme, but seeing those blocks come together or, construct, if you will, a larger whole like pieces of a puzzle is so satisfying.
Absolutely that's what I love about the more simple designs. Not only can I recognize what part is what part, I can see 100% how every part got where it went.

I know that you did this for comedic effect mostly but there is so much truth in what you said that I agree with. This is why I have been getting rid of so many of my movie based figures in the last few years. They just don't do it for me anymore.
While I am trying to be as mean and funny as I can be, I do say much of what I think, so I'm glad it strikes a chord with you.
I honestly unironically have good memories of Movie Jetfire. I had the Legends figure and still do somewhere. I just thought this gangly black monster looking thing with metal spikes covering his mouth like a suit of armor looked sick as a little 8 year old playing with his toys.
Then I saw the movie and the realization that all that was supposed to be a kibble beard has since been the final coffin in completely blocking RotF from my brain.
I was just a little kid who was playing with his toys who had no idea who Jetfire was I swear I'm the victim here.
I'm sorry to hear that, it would be better if I could envision him as lacking facial hair and just being Spiky.
They could've made Devastator yellow and black like real Construction vehicles.
whats worse this movie was the reason we didn't get an animated devastator, after omega supreme was changed to be the first threat of season 3, there next plan was going to be devastator, but they heard this movie might feature him so they had to change it, I bet if they knew how hard he was gonna suck here, they would have put him in animated to show fans what a true devastator looks like.

Getting ripped in half, or at the very least being forcefully crippled and being strapped to a unicycle would actually make for a very cruel, unusual, (and maybe a little bit hilarious) method of punishment for criminals and felons.
Especially since it's reversible. So like 2 years on a Unicycle is a theoretically reasonable punishment.
3:26 Movie Jetfire is actually confirmed to be around 40-60 ft tall, you can just barely see it if you squint during his 'awakening' scene.
I definitely agree with everything else, especially Optimus becoming a cold hearted killer, the very thing Peter Cullen's brother warned him not to portray Optimus as, and the Arcee Sisters. Although, Arcee does have a concept design that shows her as a Biped that was cut from the 2007 film. (Jetfire also did arrive to earth in the cavemen era, but the tie in comics have always been thrown out of canon over and over again.)
I'm relatively new to this channel, and I have to say I adore the fact that you give hard criticism to everything, including things you like. If something is flawed or bad, your not going to sugar coat it. You say how it is and that's that.
The context of that is lost on me when I don't know how tall Optimus or the others are.
Nothing about the movie suggests that he was actually there for the Caveman stuff, I mean in that same scene he showed off the primes killing them selves to hide the Matrix, and he'd been looking for it, so if he actually saw it, he'd know where it was.
And thank you, that is my goal. I always want to give you guys the best most informative information I can.
@@PerspectiveEnd I'll explain the comic extremely briefly. Long story short, Jetfire was The Fallen's seeker servent, and was the first to reach earth where he was promptly betrayed, and stranded on earth for centuries. He was teleported away from the fight with The Fallen and his brothers.
As much as the story is pure bullshit, it wasn't their fault. They had to somehow make sense of the bayfilm's dumpster fire they call lore.
They should not have tried.

I will defend movie Devastator until the day I die. I like G1 Devvie, but the movie design essentially being a walking monstrous superweapon is just incredibly fucking cool to me.
In what way is he a Super Weapon other than being big. He had one attack that wasn't even able to kill one of the shittiest Autobots.
6:46 the video game was nice enough to give Devastator cannons to shoot at the playable Autobot in his bossfight. The video game did a lot of work improving the movie.
I mean a dog turd on the side of the road a baking in the sun would be an improvement on the movie.

This movie is my favourite of the Bay transformers movies! I have such fond memories of it! Devastator and the Constructicons in particular. Their designs are so unique and creative. I'm actually about to complete the SS Constructicons
Yeah the designers weren't scared to show their creativity with them thats for sure. I especially love how the specific construction parts of their vehicle modes are incorporated into their designs, unlike G1 where most of those parts would just be slapped on the back. But especially Devastator with how he's actually formed from the vehicles and doesn't have giant parts appearing out of thin air. It's exactly what a combiner SHOULD be.
@@NexusProductions-rz1sv Actually, I love the G1 design too! I love the look of the G1 Constructicons, Scavenger in particular, and G1 Devastator is a really cool design. Sure, it makes no sense for his combiner bits to appear out of thin air, but that's the fun of it!
I just have a very strong soft spot for this movie and that Devastator, since it came out when I was a kid. Weird I don't feel the same about the 07 movie, though, since I did actually watch it back when it came out.
I think they could have remained incredibly creative without being such an assault on your eyes.

Giant movie monster guy who looks like a bunch of vehicles were slapped together because that's exactly what it is. "Oh the colour schemes not uniform, and it's not humanoid, and it's not all flat panels, and it's not a colour scheme that no actual construction vehicles are!"
That's not saying you want creativity if whenever it's presented you shoot it down. "Oh yeah, you can be creative, as long as you follow so many rules that it stunts what you want to do. You can only be creative if it looks like G1."

I think that reason that people want a new Fallen is because this is the only good version of this character we’ve gotten outside of comics, and because he was voiced by the legendary Tony Todd.

Funny you mention Arcee looking like she was cut in half cause... that's actually what happened. Arcee's mind, body, and spark was torn apart into three beings with barely any body left. So that whole torturous existence thing... it was intended.
You can thank IDW for this. I don't know why, but at the time they had a MASSIVE hate boner for Arcee and took any opportunity to make her life a living hell.

in defence of Sideswipe and the Motrobike Trio, the *concept* of wheel feet is cool looking, and i think if Sideswipe had flip out heels like his toys, like a reverse version of Animated, that issue would be sorted, and for the Motorbike Trio, if they could split the legs like the BM Thrust Toy (Motorcycle Drone one to be specific), I think there'd be alot less issues as it'd mean they could stand on their own with no support, but still do the unicycle stuff for action scenes.
The constructicons are alot harder to defend with the sole exception of the concept of Devastator, instead of being just. A Large Man, having a combiner be alot more monstrous and "Devastating" works. For the individual bots they def need to sort them out alot however, and maybe go full beast mode for a couple like Scavenger instead of a weird trex guy
I sincerely disagree with the assertion that Wheelfdet are EVER cool.
I don't see a giant and thing "Man that's not threatening" Giants have been feared for thousands of years. And Cat devestator looks silly, and is Less Devastating.
In the movie Jetfire was 50 feet tall, standing well above Optimus' 30' height. Don't let the SS toys decieve you, they made Jetfire that small for the sake of combining him onto Prime even though I think it's clear there was a LOT of leftover parts in that combination. Jetfire didn't exactly stand next to anyone, except Mixmaster, who was actually himself taller than Prime.
Also come on, ex seeker turned Autobot who was frozen for a long ass time in stasis, that is at least the bare basics of who Jetfire is.

And even as a toy the thing stands tall above every other Autobot even dispite not being in accurate scale. The only other characters from the movies that compare are the dinobots from AOE who were fucking MASSIVE as well, ranging about 100 feet for Grimlock.

I think devastator has different components than the ones that died since the guy in wheels was domolisher and the other one was rampage then the other ones that were in devastator is scavenger and skipjack for the colors. But still loved this video and waiting for part 2!

Actually I was watching a BTS of ROTF and the developers confirmed it was Michael Bay who wanted the idea of roller derby, skateboard like designs for Sideswipe, Arcee, and Wheelie, also there was going to be an idea where the Arcee bikes would combine into this horrific roller coaster like super form.

On Tuesday I finally got my G2 Ramjet replacement and this thing is a blast. Feels nice and tight and only has one issue and that is the arms like to get stuck in the hinged up position. On Wednesday I got the first of the golden disk collection sets with the Puffer and Road Ranger. Decent set and I love the look of Puffer alot but something doesn't feel right about his alt mode. It just doesn't sit right and doesn't wanna roll. Today I'm getting T Wrecks which will be a great companion piece to the Kingdom Grimlock. And at some point I should be receiving my Kingdom Road Rage. It's hard to find a proper date on when that will arrive but at least it has been shipped.

I had this idea where the autobots explore a abandon cybertronian ship where the hatchlings are presences, perspector study one of the eggs and takes it back for examination till the hatchings evolve out of the eggs and attack the autobots forcing them to escape.

I remember seeing it in the theatre. When I came out of the theatre the first thing I said to my ex was that I didn't like it. In retrospect I liked it a lot better than The Last Knight. My opinion on Transformers 5 was that it was just an incomplete movie.
Of course a main issue with that was how Bay butchered his own timeline. You can’t have it to where the Transformers first arrive on Earth in the first movie with even the comics to support this, only for the fifth movie to reveal that they have been to Earth before back in the past. They also really downscaled Cybertron for that movie.
The only good things to come out of TLK were Cogman and Nitro Zeus. They at least had some proper and fun personalities.
@@jaydonmagan4694 I'm going to be the bad guy here but name dropping "Headmaster" and reworking old designs didn't result in characters I cared for at all. Cogman was a plot device at best and created to dump expositions at worse while Nitro Zeus I barely even remember of which I think he really only spoke once in the entirety of the film. Squeaks had a better character arc and development yet still a character that was worthless in the grand scheme.
@@andrewwhitfield5480 I’m not gonna say I don’t disagree with you. Ultimately the main issue with every Bay Transformers movie is that it focused way too much on humans rather than Transformers. Guys like Nitro Zeus and Cogman have fun personalities but they never have them fleshed out since the movies barley focuses on Transformers.
A main drive for Nitro Zeus is that he despises Optimus for killing Shockwave, but that’s never explained in the movie and left to character bios on Wiki.
Overall, unless their name was Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, or Megatron-even though they were used less as well-Transformers were going to be underused.

Each of the Bay films were weird/strange/bad in different ways, it's honestly baffling to the point of almost being a strange kind of impressive imo.
Oman, that sucks, yeah I almost missed out on the bumblebee movie as well, but I was paying attention to the reviews it because I wanted the movie to fail, because I wanted all the transformers movies to fail.
So I noticed that it was getting really good reviews and decided to give it a chance.
And I don't know you blacked out these designs, or the movie just didn't show them enough for you to retain them all.
@@PerspectiveEnd Both are equally probably to be honest. I do think there's a cool transformer potentially hiding in a Blackbird. Just not Bayfire, nor the Xmen crossover one, for different reasons in both cases. Pity that movie is likely the closest we'll ever get to a Jetfire/Skyfire prime, though. I feel a continuity where he and Starscream rise to leaders of their factions could bring some promising dynamics and all without retconning in a pre-established close relationship, since they already canonically have one.

For the constructicons some people were saying that they like how insectoid some of them look, I understand most of what they're trying to say, but the constructicons are supposed to look like robots, not alien robots. Do that for the insecticons, one actually showed up in the movie for literally a few seconds to die when Sam was hiding with Mikaela in Egypt.
The Fallen doesn't even look like a Transformer, it just looks like an actual alien robot, what does it transform into, i had the toy and at the time I didn't know what he was supposed to be and I still don't know now.

If I had to rewrite revenge of the fallen I would replace skids and mudflap with sideswipe and ironhide or with any other autobot.
Skids, mudflap, wheelie and brains just look like something from sweet home Alabama but they were dropped off into the hood to live out their lives, How TF did MB give these guys the green light. What are your thoughts when people say it's a different adaptation, why can't you accept something new and interesting, not everything has to be G1 look at TFA, unicron trilogy, TFP, because again i am a bayverse fan i grew up with the movies but they should be based on cartoon, and that's where they're based off of. If movies are gonna translate cartoon, videogames into movies make them accurate and try to be faithful with the source material.
Yet that's my question for people who want a new figure of the fallen. Do they just like want a RED figure or something?

You compared the Fallen’s head to a shoe. That’s what I meant by the shoe comparison. Now when I look at SS Fallen’s head, I can’t stop seeing a shoe.
And I was at least expecting him to be as tall as Grimlock, I didn’t know he’d be taller. Pictures didn’t really do him justice on showing how big he is, and video reviews haven’t been helpful since they use other movie Bots for comparisons that I just never found. Even before 2020 distribution was shitty down here.

Yeah movie devastator has several colors and looks like a rainbow m&m. But g1 devastator it is solid lime green with nothing other than purple. And the lime green makes it anoying to green screen as hes the same color of the backdrop.

Side note- When I was younger, this movie used to be my favorite out of the Transformers movies. of course, my opinion has drastically changed, but I still have a small soft spot for it (because it was the first piece of anything Transformers that I ever watched).
