Arc welder (stick) is what they use on I beam to build bridges even when running pipe line they have flux whats the reason using gas welder just curious

Question, why do you cut open the section of frame where the coils sit? The spring pocket area. Is that for access to the coil overs and easy mounting? I’m working on gettin my frame notched up properly, and want to make sure I take each necessary step.
Just something I do for my style and show off that well spent money by being able to see them through the wheels
