NASCAR would open the door for other forms of racing to race at Indy with F1 coming to Indy 6 years later, sports cars in 2012, Trans Am the following year & even MotoGP racing there from 2008-2015. The fact that racers the likes of Mario Andretti, AJ Foyt, Fernando Alonso, Michael Schumacher, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Marq Marquez & Valentino Rossi to name a few have all raced at Indy is remarkable.
Let’s see. The iconic ABC Sports and Delta Force Intros narrated by the great Paul Page. Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons calling the race. And Jeff Gordon’s epic win. They hyped this race up so much it felt like another Indy 500. What a great day and race this was.
After the 1994 Season, Jeff Gordon would go on to score One of The Greatest Careers in NASCAR History that saw an additional 91 Victories & 4 Championships in 1995, 1997, 1998 & 2001 before The Conclusion of his Driving Career in 2015 from a Full-Time Perspective & in 2016 from an Overall Perspective. As well as being Inducted into The NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2019. He now serves as Vice Chairman of Hendrick Motorsports.
one of the greatest moments in hoosier history. the young gun hoosier wins in his own backyard, can’t imagine anybody was disappointed to see jeff win that day
Paul Page, Bob Jenkins, and Benny Parsons are in the booth 😮 sadly Ned Jarrett wasn't there... as he was working on the MRN Radio broadcast of the race with Mike Joy...
@@OldFuddyDuddy69 it was. The IMS Radio Network were the ones who produced the Brickyard 400 radio feed back then, and early on the crew was primarily made up of TNN people who had the weekend off.

Thank you so much for uploading this! This is probably my favorite NASCAR event.

Tony George was really happy as well and this would be their big money maker out of all the racing that they had there when he was there.

Actually, due to contract reasons... Ned couldn't be on ABC as he had a network agreement with CBS.
Wouldn't the radio broadcast be the Indy Radio Network?

Grew up less than a mile from the track. My dad took me to this race!! I was 13, great day
45:46 for those who want to skip ESPN's pre race and go to the ABC Broadcast.
Terry Labonte deserved at least 1 victory/win at the brickyard 400 before he retired!
What a battle at the end between Jeff and Ernie. Wish his tire would've held.
I was there. Great race heartbreaking for Ernie.
So sad and infuriating how the COT destroyed this race.
I was there...quite the event👍
I was there high in turn two
Does anyone know the name of the song playing during the starting lineup? I swear I've heard that song before
So, in ESPN was a preview show
45:33 for the ABC broadcast
Krusty 55 mph? hold my beer!
This became Jeff Gordon’s dominant track in his early youth years. I still can’t believe he was very famous and popular in Indy
Where was the MILK?
