This brings back memories of a embarrassing chain saw demonstration I did back in the day, assembled the new saw the night before started cutting nothing the chain was on the wrong way round just like this one.
Yup. I was like "That isn't going to cut anything", but it was right-way-around in the end. I'm sure most of us have done it.
Sad, I was so impressed until he did not clean the jets in the carb or change the rings. Bearings would have been nice too. THe chain on backwards was a dead give away
I’ve rebuilt chainsaws for years and I must say that’s the biggest load of crap I’ve seen in a long time
China's finest , probably spent more time " ageing " it then restoring it lol
I thought it was funny that since it was missing a nut holding the muffler on he didn't bother putting one on when he restored it. lol
It wasn't as bad as many that are brought to me for repair. Half the time the cylinders are completely encrusted in filth and the recoil starter will barely move for the same reason.
I rebuilt a car once. I totally replaced the body. Then I replaced the chassis and suspension components. I replaced the engine and interior and all related parts. But I used the original gas. It never did start again. HA! Seriously; this was a terrific feat, a wonderful accomplishment and a terrific video! KUDOS!
good thing you were filming when you happened to discover an abandoned chainsaw in the woods. what luck and it makes everything on the channel more trustworthy.
Yes people always leave $500 chainsaws in the woods that look like they were sprayed with gravel dust. I’ve found several
@@samb4678 thank you for clarifying things. That hadn't crossed my mind until you mentioned it.
Great movie thanks you have given me inspiration to get some of my own projects underway.
Chainsaw. My Favorite Power Tool!
👍👍👍
Looks like a medium used chain saw that just needed cleaning. I have several chinese saws that look very similar.
And he dipped the chain in some solution to make it look rusty.
I appreciate the cleaning efforts
Nearly all of the rusty restoration vids on UA-cam have fake rust .
I can't believe all of the people on here telling the guy what he did wrong. If you don't want to watch the video for its pure entertainment value, then don't. This was obviously a lot of time-consuming work that the guy did on video for others to watch. It was pretty cool seeing an old rusted piece of equipment being brought back to life. Nice job buddy.
nice video. no talking. no music. good video
I had no idea you could just soak a scortched piston and scored cylinder in gasoline then just use a tooth brush and wire wheel to bring them back to life. This pro tip will save me thousands of dollars. Thanks for sharing 🥸
tell me how all the screws bolts ect came straight out when i work on a saw that was working the day before and they are all solid and break
Thanks for NOT putting annoying NCS music in the background! The mechanical sounds are WAYYYY better than music! Great restoration!👍👍👍

you did a fine job of cleaning and restoring it i give you an a+-----take a good look at the chain
I was really hoping that i wasnt the only one that noticed that he originally put it on backwards. Too bad he didn’t film himself putting it on the correct way
BISOUS BONJOUR DE LA FRANCE BIENVENUE JADORE CONTINUER MERCI
Seeing teardown stuff makes me appreciate the ingenuity of the person who designed it in the first place!
Bruh it's fake did u notice the screws weren't rusty where the plastic was?
Regardless of where this gentleman found this saw, he managed to disassemble it, clean off the mess and put it back together so it operates. That's the point and the only point. Outstanding job. Five Stars!!!!!!👍
That spray! It's like Majik Eraser!
muito entelijente
Chainsaws are mostly made of magnesium, aluminium, plastic and sometimes chinesium, none of which rust very much!
Brown poster paint and puddle water are fairly easy to remove, the black stuff looks a bit more believable though!
Piston is badly scored too, so I wouldn't expect a lot of compression.
Interesting video though!
It would start easier with fresh rings and not filling the crank bearings full of grease lol
Chain was backwards at first, and amazingly the clutch was mint.
Also if that bar was actually that rusty you would never be able to use it again. That was flash rust and was intentional.
I still can’t understand how all these restaurateurs from UA-cam walk around their land and find chainsaws, scooters, motorcycles and cars in the bushes, no matter how much I searched in the bushes on my land, I didn’t find anything!
NICE DESIGN
What impresses me the most is that they don't randomly find these equipment, they simply put them there to produce images and then go get them
Groovy....Restoration. Ash likes. Wish I had my Sthil 088. That thing was a beast.
Definitely worth the time
I would have positively changed the piston, rings, main bearings, bar, and chain.... otherwise... strong work!
Very good👍
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌. From Brazil.
This is not a Restoration - just complete cleaning. The chain has a wrong install - it must work in other side of blades...
34:00 after all this work you put back in an old piston and put your chain backwards 😪
Yeah I was more intent watching him burn the end of the wood he was cutting.
Good eyes mate.
Right? Seized piston, original bearings, bar that was seized and a shot chain. I'm shocked it ran.
Not only that but the risers look so tall I doubt the teeth would have any contact with the wood and it wouldn't cut haha
Great job, fun watching.
I love you and these videos I hope you post more videos every day ]or week if so.
I sat here and watched the video, and I was thinking that too bad we can't fix people that have been discarded at one time or another and given a new life like you gave to the chainsaw, what a wonderful world this would be if we could !!!!😎
Very skilled person goodjob,, greetings from philippines
I'm pretty confident I could dismantle and deep clean a chainsaw like that.....but reassembly - that's a whole other skill!
Very. Very. Cool 😎. Nice 👍. Work. Love. It. Do. Not. Stop. Lee
I guess the carb doesn't get a look inside for dirt or debris, just clean the outside, it'll be fine.
thats what you get when it was likely a running saw that was planted by him ..lol he does good work but why the deception
@@lancemorgan7422 I didn't see him hone the cylinder or replace the piston rings or use a ring install tool.
Cause he knows it ain't dirty. Like the half of the chainsaw blade protected by the cover and the gearing, it was all perfect. 😂
Who TF he thinks he fooling?
the motor was stuck lock at the scratches on the piston and cylinderwall😩
No new bearings were harmed in the making of this video.
I have an Old McCulloch chainsaw my brother in law was throwing away. Not quite as nasty looking as your one. But you've inspired me to try and restore it.
Great channel.
Amazing!! I’m pretty sure that is a Dolmar chainsaw. I have one that looks very similar, just a different model #.
"Hey look over there ... is that a neglected chainsaw?" ....
capo lo felicito , la dejo impecable
Fantastic chainsaw now
Looks almost like you through dirt on it and an oxidizer to make it look old and abandon because that clutch looked brand new if it was old in in the weather that would be completely rusted out
@@swimrski I agree with the thought of the saw being artificially aged. I repair old saws and one with a bar "rusted" that bad would have a forever hold on the chain. The drive teeth would have rusted solid inside the bar. I just don't see clutches that clean in old saws, with old being 30 years or more old.
yah, the rust was all way too superficial. Actual rusted bolts/fastners don't just come free with a squirt of WD40. The ones around the exhaust & under the saw, those rust the worst. Can take ages to nurse each one out without stripping the fastner heads or breaking them & having to re-tap & thread. Takes a few special tricks... but they all came out like butter for him? Nah.
I have been working on small engines all my life especially lots of chainsaws and I had to laugh a little at the video.
Let me get this straight. You are complaining that ChainSaw is not "Dead Enough" Are you going to say, "I HAVE WORKED ON CHAINSAWS FOR YEARS AND YEARS". Really? Look at his "Likes and Dislikes".
The fact that they got it to working order and all it needed was a clean up is awesome
Good result! Greetings from Germany!
Bravo!
Good job .
I have never seen a saw that looked that bad , come apart so easy. Does not seem to be any missing or broken screws, the the inside of the rope pull was bright white, I have broken and had to drill out many. Does not seem to be any damage to rubber parts, intake boot, fuel lines or motor mounts, Hmmm. Good looking finished product though.
Non credo che sei pratico di meccanica. Questo tizio. A massacrato ancor di piú questa motosega. In primis.
Wow!! Way cool
Rusty Gasoline Chain Saw, very accurate restoration 👍
I once went fishing and came back to find a MiniMac on my truck bumper. A saw under a hedge is not beyond the realm of possibilities. Doubtful, but possible..
AweSome video !!! 😜 I loved watching 😁
Nice job
just out 4 a daily stroll happened to remember where you hid your chainsaw decided to make a youtube video on it how nice
We all know it’s BS about finding it but let’s not forget he broke it down into a million pieces and put it back together, I always have at least two bolts or screws left, well done. 🏴🇬🇧
@@NationalBoners where does it say it was put together well?
Love to do stuff like this
So satisfying to watch! No wonder they are so expensive. So much going on inside. Well done!

Brilliant work ... :) But chain is fitted in the wrong direction ... !

I too keep stumbling over neglected old chainsaws on my forest walks. So I took to urban hikes. Where I kept slipping on neglected watches and tools. Its a curse I tell you.

What about the piston rings .you always replace them
not even realistic you put the chain on backwards and you showed the motor is locked up but when you took the cover off the motor was not locked and you didn't clean the carb. real rust would not come off a steal blade that easily and you did not put 2 stroke gas in it you did not put bar and chain oil in it. the carb was turned down so low it wouldn't run higher than 2500 rpm. due the stuff right or dont post it anymore
p.s. i should know bc im a machanic

@@ni_wink84 Sorry mate, but you are wrong. He said he is a mechanic, not a linguist. You don't even know if English is his mother tongue, nor if he made a typo. I happen to speak and write in 4 languages and i understood him perfectly. Next time try to be a better person, by pointing out and correcting his mistake in a more friendlier approach rather than being a d*ck about it, who also had to edit their own sarcastic comment. PS: English is not my first language. Cheers.

I saw you do all of that and it still looks unreal...
Nice work mate. just one thing I've learnt from experience, never paint the inside of a crank case. Over time the fuel in a two stroke will eat away at the paint and the paint will flake off into the main bearings and what not. Other than that it came up really good, well done.👍

Buen trabajo.
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
