On Newer Toyota’s be careful. The vent valves do not seal pressure from a smoke machine well. They seal perfect under negative pressure. It will seep smoke and on a leak gauge like that it will bounce as the pressure slightly opens the valve. Also if you remove the connector for the canister it will seep smoke as well. Both are normal. I’ve seen technicians get burned on those before. Great video and great diag/fix on this Nissan.
@@PhillipBailey no doubt that one was fried. Just looking out! You put out amazing content. I love the channel. Even with liking subscribing and ringing the bell the UA-cam algorithm sometimes buries your channel in my feed. I’m just catching up this am 👍🏼
Hi Phillip my wife’s Nissan Murano it’s a 2016 v6 all wheel drive my check engine light came on and I replaced the gas cap but check engine light still there,I don’t wanna just be buying parts and spending money on the parts that it really doesn’t need.code is po456.should I buy that part on ur video and install it?thanks
Well you have to weigh the cost of the parts and the possibility it may not fix it against the cost of diagnosis steps. If you don't have a scan tool, smoke machine etc and have to pay a hour of labor to diagnose the problem then it might be worth rolling the dice.
Hey Phillip I ended up putting the back selenoid like on ur video and it work that was the problem no more check engine light on yeyyy thanks for ur help 🙏
Thank you for your time and videos. Could this also cause a rough idle? I have a 2011 nissan murano with a p0455 and p0456. And it drives great. But as soon as I come to a stop at a light or whenever it has to idle it drops down to almost as stall, recovers then idles roughly at 500. If I give it a little gas it runs like it's brand new. Thank you so much for your time. Have a great day.
If the purge solenoid at the engine leaks it can affect fuel trims and idle quality and may cause a hard restart after a refueling event. This particular solenoid should not affect idle quality imo.
Just had the same thing as you happen exactly, changed the Vapor Canister Vent Valve / Solenoid that is right under the rear bumper. Took about 2 minutes to replace, cost 30 dollars and my Murano runs and idles like brand new.
Thank you. One more question, I have a 2015 Murano and the other while I was on the Highway the car shut off, I was stepping on the gas and no acceleration so I pull over to the side and after I turn the ignition off , I had to jump it to go again. I'm thinking the alternator might be weak or the fuel pump might need to change. What are your thoughts
@blueaces5690 if by jump it you mean boost it then I'd have the charging system tested. I gather that when it quit it would not crank over. If the fuel pump dies it will crank but not start.
Is this an easy DIY? I’ve got a 2015 rogue. Do you have a video showing the replacement? Or is is it just held in with clips and the o ring Also would this cause the rear to have an off smell?
Thank you just changed this part on my 2015 Murano and no more problems

Good tip. It didn't hold vacuum either so I'm pretty sure that was the issue. The new one held fine.

great diagnostic process.

Hello, is this Selenoid located at the back of the murano?
Yes behind the rear differential on the canister

I showed how to install it starting at 6:50. It's super easy to replace. Define off smell...
@@PhillipBailey like fumes? Hard to describe.
@@PhillipBaileywow totally missed the 90degree part to mentioned. My bad! Should I try replacing the O ring first? Or just replace the whole unit.
@thechileacademy4800 if you mean gasoline fumes then yes possibly
@thechileacademy4800 your call but I'd probably say it's the solenoid. I've done 4 now.
What about the smoke that looked like was coming from the fuel tank?
That was from the vent hose since the vent solenoid wasn't sealing.
Hello so on the 2007 Morano its on the right side back correct? And what's the cost to replace it ?
Solenoid is around $60 CA and labor to replace is like 1/2 hour but that dies not include scanning and diagnosis.
Dye electric greas and that was it of did you have to replace a part?
replaced the vent solenoid as the video shows
Thank You Spasibo
Phillip Bailey Thank You
